Noah was far better at speaking compared to the other two, which told Andrew two things. His going to the Christmas party had not been a mistake. He was probably used to being in the public eye before he’d manifested as a true alpha. The other thing that it told Andrew was that he was valued in the family.

He had gotten training, like Ben, Kim, Will and Maxwell had gotten. It was obvious in the way that Noah was able to carry himself. The smile on his face, in his eyes that didn’t shift like it had for the other two.

Andrew was a little surprised that the man he had spoken to at the Christmas party was gone. He wondered, briefly, if it had been an illusion, but Noah cleared up his confusion later in their conversation.

"Thank you for making ti to talk to ." Noah said after they’d been chatting for a minute, drinks in front of them. Andrew wasn’t touching his that much simply because he’d already had two today, and was feeling a little full.

"Of course!" Andrew said, smiling at him. "Why wouldn’t I make ti for you, Noah?" Andrew asked and watched as Noah scanned him, taking in Andrew’s relaxed seating position, the way his shoulders’ were flat, and the fact that he didn’t have deep circles under his eyes. Noah made a small noise, a cross between a laugh and a scoff.

"Being soone’s fiancé looks good on you, Andrew. I an it as a complent as well. I...can’t say the sa." Noah smiled tightly, his eyes full of sothing that Andrew couldn’t quite place. Regret? Desire? Wanting?

Andrew wasn’t sure why he would look at Andrew that way, but it still didn’t leave Andrew with a good feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"Are you not happy with your fiancé?" Andrew asked and Noah gave a short, harsh laugh. A sound that did not, in his opinion, fit the man sitting before him. Noah sat back in his chair, shaking his head as he turned to look out the window next to him. He looked like he should be on the cover of a magazine.

Noah was, at the very least, a very attractive man. That was the one thing that Andrew could say that their father gave them all. They were all handso, beautiful people. He liked to think that the other half of their father’s partners also played a large role in it, but if he wasn’t at least attractive he doubted that others would let him touch them.

His insides were far too rotten.

"Andrew, I know that sotis we get people who are a good match for us, but...I just can’t get along with my fiancé." Noah said softly. "They...they aren’t to my liking, and they are marrying so that their family na is raised up higher. Even if I don’t like the Abraham family, and neither do you, I can’t deny that the na of my family holds weight. The Abraham’s have been around for a while, making a na for themselves for centuries." Noah gave a soft sigh, raising his coffee up to his lips and taking a sip. He shook his head as he put it down on the small table between them again. "They aren’t like Maxwell." Noah said and Andrew furrowed his brows.

"Would you want soone like Maxwell?" Andrew asked and Noah made a soft noise.

"I...don’t think I want soone exactly like Maxwell, no. I’m too scared for my own safety, honestly." Noah joked, before the smile fell from his face. "No. I guess I just want soone...loyal." Noah said softly, staring out the window again before eventually turning his gaze to Andrew. He looked...resigned. "They brought up how many other wives they would accept." Noah told Andrew.

Andrew felt his heart squeeze at that.

"Do you want more wives? Husbands?" Andrew asked and Noah looked back out towards the parking lot and the traffic.

"I...I know this would sound strange to you but I want...I want to create my own family with my own friends. I think I’d want two partners, but I’d also want them to be partners. I don’t want the cold, detached way that everyone else goes about being a true alpha." Noah said. "I would mark them if they wanted too, but I don’t really care if their ogas, betas, or even alphas. I just...want to feel like I have sowhere I belong." Noah told him.

Andrew had to sit and process the words he’d said for a mont. For one, that was a pretty big thing to admit to Andrew. Noah would have to know Andrew’s opinion on this. While Andrew didn’t judge others easily, he’d told his Mom’s story and publicly. The fact that Noah still told him?

That had to an that Noah had either thought about this a lot, or was looking for Andrew to tell him that he was being an idiot. Andrew wasn’t quite sure what the man was looking for from him. Andrew stared at him, and Noah continued to stare out the window.

"How long have you had these thoughts? Have you acted on these thoughts before?" Andrew asked and Noah flushed. He had been playing it cool up until this mont, but now he was getting flustered and embarrassed. He cleared his throat.

"I, uh, I’ve always thought this way. I think part of it started from being in the family that I grew up in, but I also think it is sothing I believe in. It got worse when I beca a true alpha." Noah admitted, swallowing. "I had to work through that a lot." Noah said. He fell silent for a mont, but Andrew didn’t force him to speak.

This was...a complicated conversation. Part of it was because Noah was fighting against the stereotypes that true alphas fell into, while also...wanting so of that lifestyle. That took balls.

Andrew was a one person kind of man, so he couldn’t understand completely where Noah was coming from, but he could have sympathy for the struggle he was facing.

Noah eventually spoke up, and Andrew listened intently to the quiet words of his brother.

"I had two partners in high school. We had to be quiet about it, because my family would have never approved of their backgrounds. We were together until recently. They...they couldn’t be with an actual true alpha." Noah was smiling, but it only looked painful. Andrew’s heart broke for the man.

He reached across the table, gripping onto Noah’s hand and giving it a squeeze. Noah seed surprised by the action but he didn’t throw Andrew’s hand off.

"They both broke up with you?" Andrew asked and Noah nodded. He looked down at his drink, swallowing thickly.

"They got engaged and then married after as well. I’ve...I’ve been a true alpha for a while, but my Mom hid it from the rest of the family for a while. I faked it too. Used so of the sprays that Maxwell makes. I got caught eventually, of course, and they used my Mom against so that I would listen to them and do what they said." Noah said it casually, like it wasn’t a terrible or horrifying thing that he was saying.

Then again, it probably wasn’t. There was a reason that Jenny had snapped the way that she had, and why Andrew’s own Mom was so terrified of Andrew manifesting when he was younger.

"Noah, I’m sorry to hear that." Andrew told the other man softly and Noah gave a wet laugh.

"It’s okay. It’s ages ago now, I just realised that I just don’t feel as fulfilled in a one person relationship, but I also...want to like the people I’m in a relationship with. I don’t like my fiancé. I don’t want to marry them, but I don’t really have a say in it." Andrew’s jaw tightened.

"That’s fucked up. It’s your marriage, Noah. You should have a say in it." Andrew’s voice was hard, firm, and Noah smiled. He looked up, eting Andrew’s gaze. There was sothing there. Pity maybe, or so kind of fervent wishing.

"I might have had that choice if I hadn’t put my foot in my mouth." Andrew’s jaw dropped.

"Please Noah, don’t say it’s because you spoke up for ." Andrew asked, horrified and Noah gave him another smile, this one was pained.

"I really didn’t think that our conversation would turn in this direction. Don’t feel bad about it. I did it of my own free will, and these are the consequences. Please, Andrew, don’t look like that." Noah begged softly and Andrew closed his mouth, his heart racing in his ears.

Angry. He was so angry. He could not believe that they would retaliate this way.

"I want to punch their faces in." Andrew told Noah quietly, and watched as Noah’s eyes widened before he tilted his head back and laughed. The sound washed over him, soothing Andrew in a way that he didn’t expect.

Noah reached out, squeezing Andrew’s shoulder, his grip firm. His shoulders shook, and he could tell that several people, n and won, were looking at Noah with interest.

"Thank you for getting angry for my sake. However, if you got embroiled in another true alpha family scandal, I think the Beckett family as a whole would beat up and throw into a body of water." Noah joked, and Andrew took a deep breath. He was fighting his instinct to spread his pheromones. He didn’t want to bother Noah in that way, or the other people who were coming through the building, drinking their coffees, minding their own business.

"They wouldn’t, not if they knew the reason. Hell, Jenny would show up with a brass bat this ti." Andrew muttered and Noah laughed again.

"Please, I really don’t want to get her involved either." Noah said and Andrew let out a harsh breath.

"She would probably want to get involved just as much as with the Proctors. She was my babysitter for a long ti, Noah." Andrew said and Noah’s expression brightened.

"I didn’t know. I knew that they were close to your Mom, but I didn’t know how. That’s lovely." Noah said and Andrew stared at the man sitting across from him. He was glad that he hadn’t given him an end ti. It felt like they had a lot that they needed to speak about.

Noah’s preferences, his family situation, and everything else that was going on. Andrew felt like shit because he felt like he was making Noah the scapegoat for everything else he was getting away with that the others couldn’t. It was a twisting pain in his gut. A knowledge that Noah was refusing to let Andrew speak about.

Andrew picked up his latte, taking a sip and letting the sugar run down his throat. He was going to have to tell Maxwell to warm up food for dinner since Andrew was not going to get ho any sooner.
