Adjusting to one eye took more than just ti and patience. Honestly, if Darius hadn’t been by his side, Xion would’ve been a canvas of red and purple blotches by now.

Bruises still marked his knees and arms from bumping into things.

The problem was the dream in which he could see perfectly with his right eye. It gave him a fragile hope.

But reality dropped the bucket of cold water onto that flickering hope the mont he opened his eyes.

All he could see were swirling patterns and blurry shapes.

The only face he could make out was Darius’, who was on the sa pillow as him. Or rather, Xion had been using his muscular chest as his makeshift cushion.

With the fever gone, his mind had cleared enough to notice how haggard the Archduke looked.

The red rims beneath his pale green eyes looked so pitiful. The Archduke seed as if he were in more pain than the patient himself.

Call him a sadist if you must, but looking at Darius’ condition made Xion’s lips tilt up.

Why? Because it ant he had an unshakable place in Darius’ heart.

He’d always sensed the possessiveness, but it was only after losing his sight that he truly saw it. Darius had been taking care of him without any rest.

So he tried harder to adjust to his distorted vision. As much as Darius’ concern ward him, he didn’t want to see that expression on his face ever again.

With a new calm settling over his emotions, he held Darius’ hand while mapping the room at a pace slower than a snail, and yet the Archduke was astonishingly sweet.

Not once did he get angry or show impatience with him. Even if Xion asked for water five tis, Darius would offer it a sixth without waiting to be asked and with the sa gentleness.

Strangely, a part of him was even grateful for the blindness — if only because it revealed just how much his lover cared.

However, when Darius offered to carry him to the bathroom and help bathe him, Xion flushed.

Although there wasn’t anything that hadn’t been seen already, he still couldn’t bring himself to be shaless enough to use the great ruler of the north as his personal attendant.

Helplessly, Darius could only settle for staying right next to the partially closed door.

The warm water leaped at his skin, soothing the tension in his stiff muscles.

His thoughts flew to the ti when he just woke up from his sleep. It was as if a bomb had exploded. Everyone rushed to et him.

It wasn’t just his family but even the ministers and servants insisted on showing their goodwill to him. By that, they ant to send gifts for dealing with the purple plague with such valor.

Xion had no clue what kind of tale Darius had spun, he had sohow beca a hero of sort. It was a bit much to deal with.

So, he’d promptly dumped the gifts on Darius’ head to deal with and escaped to sunbathe in the garden with Noxian.

He could tell that the poor child had been traumatized by the sudden turn of events. So, he allowed him to cling to him.

In the last three days, Noxian had attempted to take Xion to his room more than five tis already. This ti it was no different.

"I can take care of you better, brother. His Grace had his territory to take care of anyway."

Just as Xion was about to joke with Noxian, Darius lifted him straight off the chair

"Mine." That was all Darius said before bringing Xion back into the room.

The mory made Xion curl into himself.

It suddenly hit him that he had now officially married Darius for almost a week! The realization made his eyes widen in utter disbelief.

I forgot the wedding gift!

He sat up with a jolt, causing water to splash everywhere.

The door yanked open, and even without looking, he felt the weight of that familiar gaze on his back.

In just a few heavy steps, Darius was behind him. He didn’t ask what happened, nor did he speak another word.

He rely pulled the thin back against his chest and held him securely in his arms.

It gave the frightened healer the odd sense that if he asked, Darius might just hold him forever.

"Your clothes are wet," Xion murmured, trying to shift away. But the arms around him didn’t budge. The grip on his body didn’t relax even an inch.

Sighing, Xion tilted his head to the side, his gaze falling on the silver eyelashes.

They were lowered, easily hiding whatever emotions were running rampant in those pretty eyes.

It wasn’t just Noxian who was anxious. Darius was too, perhaps even more so than anyone else.

After his outburst, Xion had sohow found a semblance of amusent in this kind of life. It was absurd how easily he had gotten used to his defect.

However, it wasn’t the sa for His Grace.

The way Darius would hold him in his arms every night had clearly shown his inner turmoil. The Archduke was afraid to lose him just as Xion was on that night.

Xion leaned forward and placed a loud smooch on his lover’s cheek, startling him in the process.

When those green eyes finally looked at him, he smiled brightly. "Help dress?"

Darius obeyed. While he patted the body dry with a towel, he kept his gaze fixed on the few bruises.

"I’ll apply ointnt on them."

Xion humd, happily raising his arms to let the shirt slide down his torso.

"Can you call brother Allen?"

The hands tying his belt halted. "Are you in pain anywhere? Is it your head? Or eye?"

Panicking, Darius cradled Xion’s face while carefully observing any signs of discomfort.

Xion, on the other hand, mischievously leaned down and kissed Darius on his lips. Looking at his stunned face, the naughty kitten giggled. "No, silly. I need to ask him sothing."

Darius heaved a sigh of relief before getting back to putting socks on Xion’s delicate feet.

Only after making sure that Xion was warm and comfy did Darius feel satisfied. "I’ll call him now."

Xion watched the Archduke’s straight back leaving him before he slumped back on the bed.

Three days since he had woken up after his terrible fever and three long days since Darius had shown any intimate gestures other than hugging him.

Who would’ve thought that one day he’d end up craving it so much that he’d initiate it himself?

Although Darius hadn’t pushed him away, he hadn’t kissed him back either!
