"Besides that, there's one more thing."

Before Tony could respond, Nick Fury leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees and interlocking his fingers.

"Your father was a hero, Tony. He made sacrifices, contributions that shaped the world we live in."

"And now, the world needs you."

"Are you going to follow in Howard's footsteps, or keep hiding behind the mask of a playboy?"

"It's ti to choose."

With that, Fury stood up slowly, wincing with each step as he limped toward the door alongside Coulson.

"I trust you'll make the right call. And when you do, you'll know how to find ."

True to form, Fury disappeared without giving Tony a chance to respond, vanishing into thin air like a magician exiting the stage.

Tony watched him go with an unimpressed expression.

"What does he think he is, a one-eyed Forrest Gump?" he muttered. "You don't recruit with dramatic pauses."

He glanced at the armor beside him and sighed.

"Just like Malrick said. That hard-boiled egg loves putting on a show."

"Using my dad's things to manipulate ... give a break."

Still, as his eyes settled on the black box left on the table, his expression changed.

There was sothing nostalgic, even reverent, about the item.

"Let's see what the old man left behind."

Malrick had once told him that everything Howard ever wanted to say was inside that box.

---

Half an hour later

Tony stood alone in the lab, unusually quiet.

That silence wasn't the kind that ca from distraction—it was sothing deeper. Sothing personal.

He had gone through the box: dusty tapes, engineering blueprints, and hand-written notes. Nothing groundbreaking.

Except the final tape.

In it, Howard Stark unveiled the conceptual model for what would later beco Stark Industrial Park. A design he claid could change the future.

Tony had already discovered the secret behind it long ago, with a little help from Malrick.

But it wasn't the model that left him speechless.

It was Howard's voice at the end of the recording:

"Tony, you are my greatest creation."

That one sentence held more aning than an entire lifeti of silence.

Stark n were never good at expressing love. Tony had grown up under the weight of his father's indifference.

Never once had Howard said "I love you."

So Tony rebelled—trying every way he could to be seen, heard, and acknowledged.

And when Howard died, that unresolved resentnt beca part of who Tony was.

But hearing those words now, across decades, changed sothing.

For the first ti, he understood. Howard had loved him—he just didn't know how to show it.

After standing there for what felt like ages, Tony finally picked up his phone and made a call.

---

"Hello? Daylight call? You miss already?" Malrick's voice ca through, laced with sarcasm. "I'm not used to not seeing your punchable face every morning."

"Miss you? Ha, no chance," Tony scoffed. "Maybe... a crumb. Like cheese crumbs. Tiny ones."

"Just say it, Tony. I won't laugh—okay, maybe I will—but at least it'll be honest."

Tony exhaled, letting a rare smirk break through.

"Well... I saw what the old man left."

"Fury gave you the package? How do you feel about it?"

"There was a video," Tony said, voice softer now. "He talked. A lot. Didn't ntion you, though. He recorded it way before you showed up."

"No need to explain. You're making it sound like I'm going to cry." Malrick paused. "What do you want from ?"

Tony hesitated for a mont. Then: "When are we moving on Hydra?"

After feeling sothing real from Howard for the first ti... Tony couldn't sit back anymore.

He had enemies. And now he had a reason.

"You seriously don't know?" Malrick replied. "We've already started."

"What?!" Tony shot up. "Why the hell didn't anyone tell ?!"

---

Hydra wasn't sitting idle.

Pierce mobilized S.H.I.E.L.D.'s resources in record ti, greasing every political wheel in a single day.

At the Security Council, every representative voted in favor of S.H.I.E.L.D. leading the global operation to eliminate Hydra.

Agents were on standby.

And the embedded Hydra loyalists among them? Cool, calm, and collected.

To their unknowing colleagues, they seed like fearless warriors, ready to give their lives.

Recruits and veterans alike looked up to them, inspired by their courage.

Even international observers applauded S.H.I.E.L.D.'s readiness.

No one knew that once the operation started, those sa agents would turn their weapons on their allies without hesitation.

Soon, every deploynt request was approved.

Three helicarriers were prepped for launch from the S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

Pierce had pushed all his chips into the pot.

This was going to be the performance of a lifeti.

---

Back in a secret base outside New York, the real Nick Fury was losing his mind.

"Goddammit!" he barked, pacing furiously and kicking the wall with his bandaged foot. "Those Security Council idiots can't see Pierce is setting them up!"

"Didn't you used to trust him?" Maria Hill asked, standing confidently in full combat gear.

Fury's expression darkened.

"I was blind. In Bogota, Pierce fooled with his Boy Scout act."

Back in 1995, Fury had been nothing more than a deputy field officer stationed in Colombia.

During a hostage crisis, Pierce—then a diplomat—had insisted on peaceful negotiation.

But Fury had disobeyed orders, launched a risky strike, and saved everyone—including Pierce's daughter.

It forged what he thought was an unbreakable bond.

But now, to discover Pierce was Hydra?

It felt like betrayal on a biblical scale.

"Any word from Tony Stark?" he asked grimly.

"We've heard nothing," Coulson said, shrugging. "Maybe we forgot to leave contact info?"

"Contact info? He's got an AI assistant, dammit! He doesn't need a damn sticky note!"

Fury gritted his teeth. "Forget waiting. With or without that playboy, we move."

He slamd a fist on the table and pointed to the satellite images of the S.H.I.E.L.D. base.

"We need to infiltrate the helicarriers. If we don't stop this, Hydra wins."

"If we fail... this world is finished."
