The incident that happened with Tian Chuying in the village eventually ca to Lu Feng’s attention.

It must have been Lu Weihua who told him.

No, it wasn’t Lu Weihua who told him; instead, he went over there and asked about it himself.

Clearly, it was because of himself that he encountered these problems, and yet he beca the target of attack in the end.

That day, Tian Chuying didn’t know how she managed to return ho; she felt as though everyone in the square was mocking and pointing at her. She hid in her room, neither eating nor drinking for three days, and eventually fell ill.

During the two days she lay in the hospital, Tian Chuying had a dream.

She dreamt of a brand-new world, filled with skyscrapers and bustling streets so lively that it was dazzling.

There, she was no longer called Tian Chuying but Tian Ruoning. She was a high-heeled, professionally dressed strong woman, traveling and attending etings daily, discussing business deals she couldn’t believe, living like a spinning top yet confident and composed. Her whole being was radiant and stunning.

Upon waking from the hospital bed, Tian Chuying gazed at the ceiling above her and suddenly ca to a realization.

n were trash, just fleeting clouds.

Won thinking only about marriage were too narrow-minded; she wanted to live her own life, carve her own path.

Tian Chuying finally let go of the obsession in her heart and started studying, preparing for university exams.

Sure enough, efforts do yield rewards. She got into her ideal university, silencing those who wanted to see her make a fool of herself with her own abilities.

She returned to being herself.

However, so things aren’t as easily forgotten as one might say.

So scars, like a poisoned sore, remain in the heart for a lifeti, each reopening a piercing pain.

Regret, her past self truly seed like a fool and an idiot.

Tian Chuying sat half-lying on the bed, sniffing.

At this point, the young man on the opposite bed sighed and said, "Can you stop crying? It’s as if there are no n left in this world. Can’t you see things a bit more openly?"

Tian Chuying froze for a mont, wiped her tears, and smiled, "Alright, I get it. I’m just regretting my past, but I’ve already let go of everything else.

Comrade, thanks just now. Sorry to have disturbed you."

If it hadn’t been for him speaking up, she and Lu Feng probably would’ve started fighting.

Being a woman, she’d certainly be at a disadvantage in a fight.

The young man, hearing her thanks and apology, smiled sowhat bashfully, "It’s okay."

...

The next day, when Tian Xiang woke up, the day was already bright.

She checked the ti; it was after seven.

For it to be this noisy and yet she could still sleep, that’s impressive.

ng Cheng’an had already bought breakfast from the dining car and returned; a few at buns and a bowl of porridge. Paired with so pickles from ho, it wasn’t bad.

"Just got them; they’re still hot. You should freshen up first."

Tian Xiang nodded and asked him, "Didn’t sleep well last night, did you?"

He ca over to cover her with a blanket in the middle of the night; she wasn’t sure if he had slept much in those hours.

ng Cheng’an: "It’s normal not to sleep well outside. I’ll catch up on sleep once we’re ho."

Alright then.

Tian Xiang took the towel and toothbrush. Since she got up late, there was no one at the washbasin, so she didn’t have to squeeze in with others.

After breakfast, ng Cheng’an took out a book to read.

Tian Xiang also picked up an opera script and started singing silently.

However, she soon started chatting with an elderly woman on the upper bunk.

The old lady was working with the Won’s Federation, visiting relatives in Beijing this ti.

The nature of Tian Xiang’s previous work also involved such tasks, so they had a lot in common and kept chatting until they got off the train.

Before leaving, ng Cheng’an had called Mr. ng, who knew when the two would return, and not only arranged for a car but also ca in person.

Seeing his granddaughter-in-law after so long, Mr. ng was particularly pleased and asked Tian Xiang where she wanted to eat.

Tian Xiang: "Grandpa, I want to eat pancakes and lamb vermicelli soup."

"Sure, Grandpa’s treating."

The group went to a specialty restaurant in the city center. Mr. ng and the young guard also hadn’t eaten, and they ordered a few side dishes along with the pancakes and vermicelli soup.

Having finished the al, Tian Xiang headed to the ng Family in the military-political compound.

She still had two days before school started; she ca early mainly to accompany ng Cheng’an, who was returning to school tomorrow and didn’t want to delay his studies.

Tian Xiang stayed in the guest room from last ti; the setup was the sa, as though no one had stayed there since, likely becoming her exclusive room in the future.

Mr. ng still had work to do, so he returned to the military district after dropping them off, saying he had matters to attend to that evening and wouldn’t be back for dinner.

"Shall I have Xiao He co over and cook a few dishes?"

The Xiao He Mr. ng referred to was the young guard specifically taking care of his daily needs.

Tian Xiang: "No, no, we’ll go outside to buy so ingredients, and we’ll just have a casual al tonight."

They weren’t kids, and they would feel embarrassed having a guard take care of things.

Mr. ng nodded, "Alright. Grandpa has sothing going on tonight; I’ll take you out for a feast tomorrow night. The room is already booked, with all your favorite dishes."

"Thank you, Grandpa."

"Good girl."

Mr. ng left soon, accompanied by the guard.

Tian Xiang sorted out her belongings, took a bath and changed her clothes, then went to the market with ng Cheng’an, carrying a vegetable basket.

In the evening, the two made dumplings together.

Whether it was because they made them themselves or not, the dumplings tasted especially good.

After dinner, Mr. ng ca back. Hearing they had made dumplings and put them in the fridge, he said he wasn’t full yet.

This wasn’t about being hungry at all; he obviously wanted to have a taste.

Tian Xiang looked at ng Cheng’an.

ng Cheng’an: "You can only eat five."

Mr. ng pursed his lips, the brat even controlling how many dumplings he could eat.

Tian Xiang went to cook the dumplings and brought out six, also preparing so chili oil for Mr. ng.

Finally, Mr. ng smiled happily.

The next day, ng Cheng’an started school.

Since Tian Xiang was still around, he wasn’t returning to the school dormitory yet; he planned to go back once Tian Xiang joined the school.

Having nothing else to do, Tian Xiang decided to accompany him to school.

The two took a bus from the gate.

ng Cheng’an’s school wasn’t far from here, around ten minutes away.

On the bus, ng Cheng’an said to her, "Why don’t you go to the library for a while, and I’ll co find you after I’ve signed in."

Today was for registration, class etings, and arranging activities for the new students tomorrow, with no classes.

Of course, ng Cheng’an wanted to accompany his fiancée, skipping all those activities.

Tian Xiang: "Alright, I’ll wait for you there."

After getting off the bus, Tian Xiang waited until ng Cheng’an entered the school gates before turning away.

The area library was a bit of a distance from here, taking about twenty minutes by bus.

While waiting at the station, Tian Xiang felt a tap on her shoulder.

She turned her head in confusion to see a middle-aged woman in a light purple dress standing beside her, scrutinizing her with an appraising gaze.

Tian Xiang silently stepped back, putting so distance between them.

"Comrade, is there sothing you need?"

The woman smiled and asked, "You’re Tian Xiang, right?"

Ha, she actually knew who she was.

Tian Xiang nodded, "And who might you be?"

While saying this, her gaze shifted upwards, locking onto the woman’s forehead.
