Chapter 68: The Confused Angela
After a mont of dizziness, William regained his consciousness.
Perhaps because he had experienced spatial teleportation before, and his body had beco more accustod to it, or maybe because this teleportation covered a shorter distance, William felt much better this ti.
Opening his eyes, he imdiately surveyed his surroundings.
Consistent with the style outside the mansion, the walls were a mix of black and grey, and the floor was covered with dust. The only notable feature was a platform in front of him, engraved with special patterns.
Phew~ He was glad he didn’t rember it wrong and didn’t teleport to the wrong place.
Looking at the familiar surroundings, William breathed a sigh of relief.
This room wasn’t dangerous, in a sense, but he wondered if the situation here was still the sa as in the ga.
Rubbing his wrists, William walked straight to the platform in the center of the room.
The room, or rather the entire mansion’s uniqueness, lay upon the platform in front of him.
If one observed carefully, they would notice that the special patterns engraved on the platform were actually magical runes, extending from the altar to the ground, serving an unknown purpose.
In his past life, as a gar William never bothered to study these runes; his focus was simply on grinding.
But now, beginning to solidify his knowledge and grasp of runes, even if he couldn’t fully understand the runes before him, he recognized the combinations representing “blood,” “nurturing,” and “death.”
However, the runes weren’t the focus here. What mattered more was the item placed on the platform.
A blood-red heart!
It was flawless like a gemstone, resembling an artifact crafted by a skilled artisan, shimring with a jewel-like bloody glow.
It also constantly emitted a strong scent of blood, with the magical rune array on the platform designed to connect to this heart.
Yet, William’s gaze didn’t linger on the heart. Instead, he looked above it.
Yes, there was sothing—or rather, a creature—lying on top of the heart. Incorrect, it should be described as a monster.
A small, snowy white bat lay atop the heart, deeply asleep, with a bubble the size of its body hanging from its tiny nose, bobbing up and down with each breath.
Most of the energy emanating from the heart seed to be absorbed by this bat.
William took a deep breath and carefully reached out to the white bat, intending to awaken it from its slumber.
He had to be careful, given the significant reputation of the creature before him.
This white bat was the only entity within “Azrael’s Dungeon of Death” that possessed normal intelligence and could communicate.
The LV150 vampire, Angela!
From the perspective of past players, upon entering the room, one would imdiately see this sleeping white bat with a red [Extrely Dangerous] warning above its head, highlighting its status as a BOSS.
But now, to William, this white bat seed too cute.
Unlike its dirty, dark counterparts, its snow-white fur revealed pink little ears and paws.
Cuddled up into a ball, sweetly sleeping on the heart, occasionally twitching its little ears.
If Nichole were here, she would have probably rushed to hug and pet it endlessly.
Who could imagine such a cute creature possessed the strength of a Gold-tier BOSS?
If possible, William really didn’t want to disturb this creature, for no amount of cuteness could shake William’s firm belief (allegedly).
But the key to the second thod of raiding the dungeon relied on it.
Carefully, William nudged the little creature with his hand, and surprisingly, it felt quite nice.
Cold, soft, and very comfortable to the touch.
After shaking off his distracting thoughts, William quickly focused on the little bat’s movents.
After a while, he ca to a conclusion.
“This boss is really a heavy sleeper!”
In his past life, he would just bulldoze through, not bothering with small talk, and start with a fireball to the creature’s face.
Who would wake up a BOSS during a raid to politely inquire: “Are you awake? If so, I shall comnce the battle!”
Saving ti for the raid team was part of William’s professional ethics and a competitive advantage for the studio.
That’s why, even though he knew of a second thod to clear the dungeon in his past life, William never tried it, and now he had to carefully explore.
To wake up the creature, William went from gently pushing, to slapping, to shaking, nearly to the point of throwing it on the ground.
Just as he hesitated over whether to try a waking spell, the little bat finally woke from its sweet slumber.
The bubble on its nose burst, and a pair of confused eyes opened, staring blankly at William, who was holding its tiny legs and hanging it upside down.
William felt a bit awkward, given the unflattering position of holding this dignitary, and quickly placed it respectfully back on its red “bed” with both hands.
The little bat’s beady eyes turned towards William, who seed to read in its baffled gaze:
“Who am I, where am I, and what am I doing?”
“Esteed Lady Angela, I apologize for waking you from your dream.”
William spoke respectfully to the bat lying on the heart, even performing a noble bow.
“Oh.”
Angela was clearly still disoriented, given the dullness of the tomb. Since her awakening and inheritance of mory, she hadn’t encountered anyone to communicate with, her only joy being to sleep on this heart day in and day out.
The headless one always drew his sword at the sight of her, the tomb’s master stayed in the Lich Tower without coming out, and there was no need to ntion the other riff-raff.
It took a while for Angela, who learned human language from her inherited mories, to realize the person before her was not one of the tomb’s undead, but rather resembled the food from her mories.
From outside?
The still-sowhat-sleepy Angela suddenly beca alert, her eyes wide open as she clumsily spoke in human language:
“Are you a human? From outside the tomb?”
Seeing Angela trying to prop herself up with her little paws, William felt sowhat relieved.
No violence, communication is possible!
He decided to erase from mory the ungraceful actions just now, and told Angela:
“Yes, I’ve co from outside this tomb. I never expected to et the esteed Lady Angela here.”
“Oh, oh.”
Angela suddenly sensed sothing amiss and questioned:
“How do you know my na? I never told anyone the na I chose for myself. Don’t try to deceive ; I’m very smart!”
Hearing this, William’s expression beca solemn, his gaze filled with reverence and a hint of longing:
“Because, upon entering the tomb, I received a divine oracle from Lord Vlad, instructing to lead you out of this cage!”
