Chapter 177: Chapter 163: The Man Living on the Deserted Island

Today’s shoot was in the afternoon, no need for a lighting technician, but Zhang Ruoi brought Chen Wan Ying over anyway, evidently to do makeup and styling on the boat.

Chu Mingcheng started the fishing boat and set off, and Jiang Luoluo was also pulled into the bedroom for makeup, planning to change clothes afterward.

By the ti he anchored the boat opposite the lone island’s beach, her styling was just finished, and she ca out of the bedroom.

The beige traditional Chinese dress, with a wine jug in one hand and an ancient book in the other, added a touch of boldness to the already stunning Jiang Luoluo.

“Does it look good?”

Chu Mingcheng gave a thumbs up. If she weren’t attractive, would he have fallen for this girl?

Everyone is a sucker for good looks, no exceptions!

He wasn’t idle himself either and went to the bedroom to change into a diving suit.

The inflatable boat had been filled with air by the girls on the way, so it could be directly put into water now.

Pulling on the rope, he let them board the inflatable boat and sit down first. Afterward, Chu Mingcheng, carrying a small motor, also boarded and set it up before starting it to leave.

Finally, with the help of the waves, he pushed the rubber boat onto the beach, so Jiang Luoluo wouldn’t get her clothes wet when she disembarked.

Letting the three won shoot on the beach by themselves, Chu Mingcheng pushed the inflatable boat back into the water.

He returned to the fishing boat to move the folding table, barbecue grill, charcoal, and two loudspeakers onto the inflatable boat; the speakers were for playing music.

Jiang Luoluo would need quite so ti to shoot the video. By the ti she finished, it would probably be dark, and a seafood barbecue would be perfect then.

Not to ntion Chen Wan Ying, Zhang Ruoi had been owed a grand seafood feast all along, which was also why Chu Mingcheng had put on a diving suit.

The water conditions were still not very good today, but it was barely possible to hunt so fish and collect shells and sea urchins.

Moreover, he was well prepared, with ten floats and so shrimp and crab traps on the boat, hoping to catch so good stuff.

As Chu Mingcheng was setting shrimp and crab traps from the boat, hooking bait on the floats, music soon started playing from the beach.

What those present did not know was that due to the noise of the music, a highly secluded person erged from a cave in the mountain.

From his vantage point, he imdiately saw the three won and a man on the beach.

And he was also familiar with this fishing boat.

He had noticed it the first day it had arrived near the lone island.

But at that ti, there were several n on the boat, so he did not act rashly.

In the subsequent visits, it was always just Chu Mingcheng by himself, but as he was constantly fishing, the boat, though near the lone island, had not co too close.

The hundreds of ters in between had prevented him from swimming over to board it, and since Chu Mingcheng hadn’t gone to rest in the bedroom, he dared not approach.

Chu Mingcheng had no idea that in these few days when he was fishing here, he had been cursed several tis for not providing an opportunity.

However, judging by the actions of the person on the mountain, he clearly did not have good intentions.

After Chu Mingcheng had thrown all ten floats into the water, he took his diving equipnt once again to the inflatable boat and pushed it to a part of the beach out of sight of Jiang Luoluo’s filming.

He then found a large rock and tied the rope to it.

Chu Mingcheng did not go to watch Jiang Luoluo’s filming but instead opted for shore diving.

He lay down and slowly swam towards the reef area next to the beach. In the broad daylight, looking for prey on the beach was like dreaming, but it was possible to find fish hiding in the nearby reef area.

However, his direction and actions made soone on the mountain extrely nervous.

Because for survival on the lone island, the majority of his food ca from the sea.

He had just set three traps near this reef area in the morning to catch fish, and if Chu Mingcheng discovered them, he would certainly beco suspicious, which might lead to his tracks being found.

In his anxiety, he paced back and forth, and then seemingly struck by an idea, he hurried back into the cave. Inside the pocket of a worn-out, heavy coat, he found a black plastic bag.

Inside it were things that could help him.

As expected, Chu Mingcheng discovered three bamboo traps not long after reaching the bottom of the reef.

He looked at these traps curiously, which felt similar to the ones used by people in survival docuntaries. A few small fish inside were scared away by him.

As for the bait, it was so smashed sea snail shells.

There was also a rope on the traps, and Chu Mingcheng looked up and suspected it was tied to a rock on the shore.

‘Are there people on the island?’

This was Chu Mingcheng’s first thought. However, while he had been on the beach, he had not noticed any traces of human activity, not even a footprint.

Could it be traps set by passing fishing boats?

But why would they bother with such traps that can only catch a few small fish, when they have much more convenient shrimp and crab traps?

Unsure what the situation was, Chu Mingcheng left the traps as they were.

There was quite a commotion from Jiang Luoluo’s side, and if there really were people on the island, they might be lured down later, right?

Now it seems so YouTubers specialize in creating survival videos on lone islands to attract viewers; maybe there was one here too?

Chu Mingcheng surfaced to observe the beach and the mountain for a while but didn’t notice anything abnormal.

Forget it; there’s no need to fuss for now.

If he encounters soone, he’ll find out what’s going on; if not, it’s naturally for the best.

Later, Chu Mingcheng set the matter aside and started to hunt.

The visibility was poor, maybe just five or six ters, so he had to move slowly while looking for fish to avoid startling any nearby.

After a short while, Chu Mingcheng finally found a precious sea red spot hiding under a rock.

It was rare to encounter a sea red spot, which pleased him, though the fish was quite small, probably just over a pound.

But it was enough for everyone to have a taste. He released the spear gun so it floated in the water by itself.

Then he took down the spear from his back, approached the sea red spot, and aid.

“Pffft~”

“Bang~”

The sound of the spear piercing flesh and hitting the rocks almost happened simultaneously, as the sea red spot thrashed its tail frantically, as swift as an electric motorboat.

But with the blood gushing out, its strength quickly depleted.

To keep the fish at sweet and fresh, Chu Mingcheng used a diving knife to bleed it thoroughly, then hung it on the live fish hook.

After that, he hit two Black Sea Bream and one Yellowfin Snapper, all between one and two pounds. It looked like they had caught enough fish for now.

Therefore, Chu Mingcheng began to swim toward the area where he had found many scallops and sea urchins.

He had gotten the recipe for a secret garlic sauce from Brother Haiwang, which claid to make even flip-flops taste delicious.

Anyone who has bought flip-flops would understand; there was no need for Chu Mingcheng to experint further. That night, he planned to cook so scallops with garlic sauce and pry off so oysters with the diving knife as well.

It didn’t matter if it was greasy; the key point was that grilled oysters were delicious.

Once he collected enough for dinner, Chu Mingcheng returned to the beach with his catch, first placing it on the table.

Jiang Luoluo had just finished filming a dance sequence and, seeing his bulging net, temporarily set aside her filming to co over.

“What did you catch?”

“I was lucky today, I ran into a sea red spot. We’re in for a treat tonight,” Chu Mingcheng said with a smile as he lifted the sea red spot.

“That’s impressive; this fish is quite expensive! I once asked at the seafood market, a re five or six ounces cost three hundred yuan. It scared off from buying it!” Chen Wan Ying also ca over, exclaiming upon seeing the sea red spot.

“Five or six ounces for three hundred? It’s good you didn’t buy it, or you would have been ripped off.”

Jiang Luoluo, thanks to Chu Mingcheng, had quickly beco quite knowledgeable about seafood, and by now, was quite familiar with the market rates.

“Ha, seems like you’ve undergone quite a change recently!” Chen Wan Ying remarked with a teasing tone that had an underlying aning.

“Of course. Who knows when I might turn into soone else’s shape.” Zhang Ruoi joined in the teasing, being the only married woman present, she had a knack for delivering such punchlines.

Jiang Luoluo normally maintained her composure in the face of Chen Wan Ying’s teasing, but Zhang Ruoi’s words caught her off-guard.

“You shaless old woman, what nonsense are you spouting!”

She imdiately went forward to use physical force to subdue a certain unruly lady.

Chu Mingcheng was a bit embarrassed by their words and took the opportunity to sneak away and get clean, bathing and changing his clothes on the fishing boat while they were busy squabbling.

anwhile, up in the mountains, the man living in the cave took a quick bath and put on his cleanest set of clothes to increase the credibility of his plan.

He had to portray a man who, for special reasons, was living alone on a deserted island.

Once ready, he touched the items in his inner pocket, took his dagger, and began to walk down the mountain.

By this ti, the sun was already slanting westward, and it wouldn’t be long before it set.

On the beach, Chu Mingcheng had already started processing the ingredients. In a little while, he would be ready to prepare dinner.

The three sea breams they had brought were gone, replaced by a five-pound tiger spot.

Chu Mingcheng had caught the tiger spot while collecting floating markers; he had been quite lucky, catching a total of four Groupers that day.

There were even two tiger spots. The other one, bigger and weighing seven to eight pounds, was currently being kept alive in a water tank.

Therefore, Chu Mingcheng, who had specially brought Jiang Luoluo to shoot a video that day, had incidentally earned back the fuel costs.

Two groupers would be used for a hot pot and stir-frying, with grilled fish heads, grilled scallops and oysters, and sea urchin sashimi—dinner that night was of considerable value.

While Chu Mingcheng was busy with the fish, he occasionally looked up at Jiang Luoluo’s dance, feeling quite content.

Zhang Ruoi was seriously filming, and only Chen Wan Ying seed a bit idle.

It was at that mont that Zhang Ruoi suddenly noticed a strange silhouette appearing in her cara lens.

She thought her eyes were playing tricks on her, so she blinked, looked again, and indeed, there was a figure!

“Oh my~”

The next instant, she almost leaped out of her skin, screaming involuntarily before instinctively running toward Chu Mingcheng.

But after only two steps, she hurried back to grab the bewildered Jiang Luoluo and Chen Wan Ying, running together toward him.

The sudden scream had startled Chu Mingcheng so much that his hands shook, narrowly missing slicing his own fingers with the knife.

Turning back, he saw Zhang Ruoi, panic-stricken, dragging the confused won towards him.

They quickly hid behind him, shivering for a mont before pointing with terror at the place where she had seen the shadow, “There… there’s a ghost…”

For a woman, suddenly catching an unidentified figure on cara on a deserted island and having the presence of mind to pull Jiang Luoluo and Chen Wan Ying to safety was quite comndable.

Being scared was a natural response, especially in the current environnt.

Chu Mingcheng, hearing about the ghost, also felt his skin crawl instantly.

Even though Jiang Luoluo and Chen Wan Ying were sowhat skeptical about the presence of a ghost, they couldn’t help feeling a bit scared as well.

Chu Mingcheng looked in the direction Zhang Ruoi was pointing and actually saw a person walking toward him. But under the sunlight, the figure had a shadow, which imdiately relieved him.

“Don’t be afraid, it’s a person, he has a shadow,” he reassured them.

Hearing that, the three won behind him also peeked out, and after seeing the figure for themselves, they too breathed a sigh of relief.

Yet they continued to watch the approaching figure with a wary expression.

Chu Mingcheng wasn’t entirely at ease either. He picked up the spear gun, ready to load it, and kept a close eye on the stranger.

As the only man present, he had to protect the three won behind him.

The man opposite had been secretly observing, but when he was unexpectedly caught on cara, he had no choice but to co forward.

Seeing Chu Mingcheng’s spear gun, a flash of wariness crossed his face.

Then, seeing the faces of the won, especially Jiang Luoluo’s, he suddenly felt an intense desire and greed.

However, he didn’t speak and didn’t show any expression; he didn’t even look at Chu Mingcheng’s side again.
