“I don’t care! Even if you’re just stepping out for a stroll, you must take with you. I don’t want to be alone in the hotel. It would be so boring,” Luna firmly clung onto Luo Feng’s arm, causing him to feel sowhat helpless. However, since he was only going for a quick reconnaissance, taking her along wouldn’t hurt.
“Alright, alright, let’s go.”
Once they stepped outside, Luo Feng led Luna straight to their destination. After a journey of over twenty minutes, he was surprised to find that their destination was a Chinatown.
Seeing familiar items that could only be found in the capital city, Luo Feng felt a touch of nostalgia.
“What’s that? It looks beautiful!” Luna pointed to a candy-coated hawthorn stick being sold by the roadside.
It did indeed look appealing, and Luo Feng guessed that Luna had never tried such a treat in her life. He bought two sticks and handed them to her.
“Try it. It’s delicious,” he encouraged.
Luna examined the candy-coated fruit before cautiously taking a bite. The mont she swallowed, her entire expression transford, and she beca visibly excited.
“This is amazing! What is this?”
In no ti, Luna had devoured both sticks of candy-coated hawthorn and eyed the vendor’s display with evident longing.
“You can’t eat too many of these; they’ll rot your teeth,” warned Luo Feng, pulling Luna along.
She made a face of disdain. “Please, I’m not a child. Do you really think I’ll get cavities?”
Though she verbally protested, Luna didn’t press Luo Feng further, and the two continued walking. Along the way, they encountered many unfamiliar snacks, and Luo Feng generously let Luna sample each one. By the ti they reached their actual destination, Luna was so full she could barely walk, her legs feeling weak.
“I can’t move anymore! I’m stuffed!” Luna complained, leaning onto a bench for support. anwhile, Luo Feng’s attention was captured by a mansion ahead.
It was hard to imagine that soone had built such a mansion in a comrcial district like Chinatown. Though not particularly large, the land in a comrcial area was extrely valuable. Building a mansion here would cost an unimaginable sum.
As Luo Feng pondered how to approach the mansion, a group of arrogant-looking n erged from it, barely glancing at the other people on the street.
“Out of the way! Move, kid! Don’t block the path!” they shouted. Spotting Luo Feng near the entrance, they approached him aggressively, shoving him.
But even with their efforts, Luo Feng remained unyielding.
“You’re looking for trouble here?” one man sneered as they surrounded Luo Feng.
“I don’t believe I’m standing on your territory. And with such a spacious street, do you really need to pass precisely where I stand?” Luo Feng queried, genuinely puzzled by their audacity.
“It’s been a while since anyone dared to speak to us this way here,” a voice chid in from the back of the group.
Erging was a man who appeared to be the leader. From his appearance and attire, it was evident he hailed from Beijing.
Luo Feng hoped that their shared origins might ease the tension. But before he could express his goodwill, he was t with hostility.
“Don’t think that just because you see soone who looks like you in Chinatown, you can get familiar with them,” the man sneered. “And don’t get wrong. While I might look like you, I’m an Arican now. We’re worlds apart.”
Luo Feng was taken aback, struggling to understand the man’s overconfidence.
“I’m not trying to ingratiate myself. I ca here today because…”
“I don’t care about your reasons. All you need to do is leave my sight imdiately. Otherwise, I won’t be joking around with you,” the man threatened.
The man laughed heartily, as if no one had ever dared to challenge him like this.
“It’s been a long ti since soone provoked like this..”
