Poochi was excited when his master and mistress agreed to his request. He eagerly positioned himself at the door, ready to go downstairs.

Little Mia saw Poochi leave with her sister Ele and wanted to join the fun. However, Elena gently declined, saying, "We don’t know the doctor yet, so it’s best to be cautious."

"But why is Poochi allowed?" Little Mia asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.

"Because Poochi probably knows the doctor," Elena explained gently. "How about you join us next ti, okay?"

Little Mia was upset by her sister Ele’s firm decision and pouted sadly.

Elena glanced at her, almost tempted to change her mind, but Ethan quickly intervened.

"Little Mia is a good girl; she always listens to her sister Ele."

Though Little Mia felt disappointed, she reluctantly agreed and settled back onto the sofa to watch her favorite cartoon.

Noticing her sadness, Elena knelt beside her and offered comforting words before heading downstairs to check on the doctor.

As they approached, Elena spotted a man standing in front of the door. A wave of confusion washed over her; she didn’t recognize him.

But Poochi, sensing familiarity, dashed forward with excitent to greet the doctor.

"Stop running! We’ll open the door," Elena warned, recalling the electric gate’s danger.

"Aw~aw~aw," Poochi barked excitedly, recognizing the man.

’Mistress, it’s really my doctor.’

"Just calm down," Elena instructed as she ordered Oslo to turn off the live wire.

"It’s really you, Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell! I thought I was mistaken—it’s been a while," Dr. Paige exclaid, finally confirming their identities.

He was one of the few residents who had gone downstairs earlier to hear updates from the rescuers.

When he saw the Caldwells, Dr. Paige had wanted to greet them imdiately, but he hesitated. Their reputation preceded them, and he feared that if he openly acknowledged them, the other residents might assu they were close and start pressuring him for information.

"And you are?" Ethan asked, smiling proudly at the man who addressed them as Mr. and Mrs. Caldwell.

He tried to recall the figure before him; the doctor appeared haggard yet kept a neat appearance.

It was evident he recognized them, especially Poochi, who was wagging his tail excitedly.

"It’s , Dr. Paige—Poochi’s vet. I took care of him back at your previous apartnt," Dr Paige explained, gently petting Poochi, who responded with joyful yips.

Poochi had been a good patient—smart and energetic—which had helped them bond during his recovery.

Ethan’s eyes lit up with recognition.

"Dr. Paige! So you live around here too?"

"Yes, I bought a unit here a while back but rarely used it. When the earthquake occurred, my previous apartnt was destroyed, so I moved here," Dr. Paige replied.

They quickly caught up, discussing the recent disasters and how residents had been surviving by drinking rainwater.

Dr Paige was anxious about how his unit had almost been raided after he foolishly ntioned he had stocked up on food.

Now, people were knocking on his door from ti to ti, asking for food supplies or dicine.

"I’ll be frank with you," he said, concern etched on his face. "My older sister has a fever, and I don’t have any dicine on hand. I’d like to borrow or buy so if you have any."

Ethan glanced at his wife, gauging her reaction. Seeing her nod, he agreed.

"We have paracetamol here," he said, then went to ask Elena for the item.

Returning, he handed the dicine to Dr. Paige.

"Here, take it. It was thanks to you that our Poochi recovered so quickly," Ethan added with a grateful smile.

"Then I won’t stand on ceremony. Thank you! If you need anything, you can find in unit 1501," Dr. Paige replied gratefully, eager to leave so her sister could take the dicine.

"Sure! I’ll definitely reach out for your expertise in pet care," Ethan replied.

"Aw~ aw~aw!" Poochi barked, bidding farewell to Dr. Paige.

"Take care, Poochi. I’ll see you around. Thanks again," Dr. Paige said with a smile before heading back to her unit.

As he left, the other residents—who had overheard the conversation—grew curious about the people living on the upper floor.

"Are you acquainted with them?" one resident asked.

"Not really. They just hired a while ago to take care of their dog," Dr. Paige replied, sensing their curiosity.

The residents exchanged calculative glances, eager to befriend the upper-floor occupants. Based on what the manager had said, they believed the newcors had supplies and dicine.

"Why did you go there?" another resident pressed.

"Madam, that’s none of your business. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way," Dr. Paige said curtly.

With that, he quickly walked off, leaving the residents frustrated. They had hoped to ask him for dicine, but he always managed to dodge their request.

"This guy from unit 1501 is so hard to talk to," one of them muttered. "He always has so excuse when we ask to borrow food or supplies. We all live in the sa building—we should be helping each other."

"Yeah, in tis of disaster, everyone should forget about status and stand united."

Their bold words hid their true intentions, as they exchanged calculating glances with one another.

Monts later, they returned to their units—already thinking of ways to befriend the people on the upper floor.

anwhile, Elena and Ethan were talking about Dr. Paige.

"This guy seems promising," Elena said. "But we should get to know him first, see if he’s really a good fit for our group."

"If we can win him over, we’ll have a vet in our team," Ethan replied.

"Let’s wait until we really know what kind of person he is."

"Agreed."

As they headed back upstairs, Elena suddenly felt hungry. Out of nowhere, she craved chocolate.

She was confused—she rarely ate chocolate, but now she was suddenly craving it.

"Let’s have so snacks first," Elena said.

Ethan raised his brows. They had just eaten lunch not too long ago, and now she wanted to eat again.

"Wife, you’ve been eating a lot these past few days. Are you really that hungry?"

Elena shot him a glare. "Do you think I need to slim down because I look fat?"

"Of course not," Ethan replied quickly. "I’m just worried that when you gain weight, you’ll bla for not reminding you. But honestly, seeing you chubby is kind of cute."

He smiled, gazing at his wife with affection. Elena rolled her eyes, unimpressed by his sweet excuse but secretly amused.

"But I’m hungry! Can you really bla ?" she huffed, crossing her arms. "If you don’t want to eat, then don’t."

Elena excitedly entered Grandpa Callwell’s unit and found moody Little Mia scolding Poochi for being insensitive to her feelings.

"Why are you bwagging that you went downstaiws?" she pouted.

"Aw~aw~aw," Poochi barked in protest.

’I just wanted to tell you I saw my doctor earlier. Why are you mad?’

Elena watched the standoff between the two with amusent, chuckling as neither of them seed willing to back down.

To ease the mood, she stepped in with a smile.

"Alright, that’s enough. Who wants to eat chocolate cake?"

The mont she ntioned chocolate, Little Mia’s frustration vanished. Her eyes lit up with excitent.

"! Sister Ele, I want to eat chocolates!"

"Then eat only a small portion, or your teeth might get damaged from the sweets," Elena reminded gently.

"I’ll listen to Sis Ewe," Little Mia nodded obediently.

"Where’s your brother Koby?"

"He’s in Paradise, helping Grandpa."

"Let’s call them over," Elena suggested.

"Okay!" Little Mia agreed and hurried to enter the space to fetch them.

While waiting, Elena began setting the table with the chocolate cake.

Just seeing the dessert made her want to dig in right away.

She paused, puzzled. ’Why am I eating so much lately? she wondered. ’And I keep getting drowsy even though I sleep enough.’

’Is my ability awakening early?’

The thought lingered in her mind. Just like the typhoon that ca ahead of schedule, maybe her awakening was happening sooner than expected too.

She felt a ripple of worry—changes like this could lead to unexpected and complicated situations.

’Well... one step at a ti’, she told herself, taking a deep breath.

Elena was deep in thought when Lydia suddenly appeared in front of her, wearing a worried expression.

"Why are you frowning?" Elena asked quickly.

Lydia shared her concern. "I haven’t heard any news about my parents. Now that the signal’s down, it’ll be hard to know how they’re doing."

Elena understood her situation and gently offered reassurance. "Once the typhoon eases a little bit, we plan to go out. We’re heading to the museum, and that’s the sa route as the Marine Institute."

"Then I’ll join you," Lydia said without hesitation.

"Alright," Elena smiled. "But for now, co join and have so dessert."

Lydia blinked in surprise. They had just finished lunch, and now Elena was eating again.

She couldn’t help but wonder how Elena still had room for more.
