Sunshine did not respond. She leaned against the hamr, with an amused smile on her face. Greg and his friends had really miscalculated if they thought that a few suits and dragonoids were all it was going to take to bring down Fortress four.

Even if she died here, Hades would simply lock down every town, aside from Ferry Island. These people should have been more patient.

Greg lay on the ground, his exo-suit sparking and hissing from the impact of the hamr. He groaned, trying to push himself up. His face was twisted with a mix of pain and pure arrogance.

"You think a little hit like that stops this suit?" Greg pulled back his helt and spat, a bit of blood trickling from his lip. "I always wondered how you were able to make that thing crash anything except for this suit. Once I figure out the technology behind the hamr and the suit, Walden’s army will be unstoppable."

Sunshine looked bored. She reached up to her ear and scratched it with a small smirk. "Hey, System? You there?"

[Yes, Host.] The digital voice rang out, clear as a bell.

"Be a sweetheart and disengage Greg’s suit, would you? Him and all the other suits on the wrong bodies. Pull back their helts so that Elio can put a bullet between their eyes."

[Processing... Manual override confird. Disengaging exo-suit power now.]

Suddenly, the glowing blue lights on Greg’s suit flickered once, twice, and then went pitch black. The loud hiss of the hydraulic pistons died into a pathetic wheeze. It was not just him but the two rcenaries by his side as well.

They had been flying with ease, and suddenly, they crashed to the ground.

Greg froze. He tried to move his arm, but the suit was now just three hundred pounds of dead tal pinning him to the dirt.

"What... what happened? What did you do?" Greg stamred, his eyes wide with sudden terror.

"Oh Greg, there was one tiny Chapter I left out of the suit manuals I gave out." Sunshine said, stepping closer. "I have the master control for every piece of tech I build. You didn’t think I’d give you a tank without keeping the keys, did you?"

She pulled a dart rifle from her belt. Greg laughed nervously, looking back at the rcenaries who had collapsed behind him. "She’s kidding! It’s a bluff! This thing will be up and running in no ti."

Phut!

Sunshine didn’t hesitate. She squeezed the trigger. The dart hissed through the air and punched straight through the side of Greg’s neck. His eyes rolled back into his head, and he started losing motor function, pinned inside a tal coffin of his own choosing.

Elio walked to the two rcenaries and shot them dead.

Then, everything around them went silent for a mont. Even the Fortress Four troops were staring at Sunshine with their mouths open.

"So," Major Elio whispered, looking down at his own armored sleeves. "You can just... turn us off?"

More rcenaries poured out from the building. Now that Greg was dead, soone else had to speak for the Walden’s.

Nimo stepped forward, her tallic claws sliding out from her fingertips. She didn’t seem bothered at all; she was just hungry for the fight.

"Who’s next?" she shouted, her eyes darting between the rcenaries. "I’ve been itching for a reason to use these!"

The rcenaries shifted, their hands tightening on their weapons. One of the high-ranking n_ a tall, scarred soldier with a cold gaze_ held up a hand, signaling his n to stand down for a mont. He took two slow steps forward, his boots crunching on the gravel.

"We can talk about this," he said, his voice deep and calm. "I am Commander Telami. I actually represent Mr. Walden, unlike Greg who was a traitor to your fortress."

"Talk fast, we have a lot of itchy fingers over here." Sunshine warned.

Telami ignored the threat. "Mr. Walden is a fair man. He has no desire to hurt the residents of Ferry Island or the entire fortress four. He is perfectly happy to maintain the status quo. There is only one small change required, he will be the supre leader of this region. You, your fortress, and your people will simply be under his command. It’s the safest way for everyone to survive these dark tis. No one has to get hurt."

The Fortress Four squads burst out laughing.

O’Toole actually doubled over, slapping his knee. "Under him? That is gross."

"Supre leader my ass." Nimo said.

Sunshine didn’t laugh, though. She was curious. Why would a man with such a small territory think he could demand the surrender of the most powerful fortress in the region? Did he have a hidden ace?

"We can’t do that," Sunshine said, her voice dropping the humor. "Go back and tell Mark Walden that his offer is insulting. And while you’re at it, get off my land. The only reason I haven’t turned this place into a graveyard is because my people were found alive. Consider this your one and only rcy."

Commander Telami didn’t move. He didn’t even blink. "We cannot do that. And more importantly, we cannot let you leave."

Behind Telami, the rcenaries began to change. These weren’t just hired guns, they were superhumans. And they were powerful. Those who had been hiding inside in exo suits had long pulled themselves out of them.

One man’s hands began to glow with a violent red light, and the air around him started to shimr with heat. A woman stepped forward, and a miniature cyclone began to swirl around her feet, picking up rocks and debris. A third man’s skin turned to a dull, tallic grey, his muscles bulging until they threatened to rip his uniform.

[Warning, Host,] the System sent an alert [Enemy abilities are being amplified by a Pri Core signature. Their power levels are 40% higher than standard superhuman ratings.]

Sunshine’s eyes narrowed. "I see, that is a lot of pri core."

So that was it. The Walden’s had found a way to tap into the Pri Core, just like she had. No wonder they were so arrogant. They thought they had the ultimate cheat code.

"Will you surrender?" Telami asked, as a wall of fire erupted behind him.

"We will take option B," Sunshine replied. She didn’t wait for them to throw the first fireball. She knew that in a fair fight, the Pri Core powers would cause too much damage to the buildings and the civilians hiding inside. Her people had small pri core stones, these ones seed to have more than a small pearl. She needed a ssy, unfair win.

And, she needed every bit of pri core they had on their bodies.

"Leah! Now! Spread the dust bombs!" Sunshine scread.
