Chapter 748: 399 Sudden Attack_2
Fang Yuyang disguised himself as a second-level Wind Superpower User, occasionally lifting his hand to release small Wind Blades. Fang Yuxin was posing as a second-level Wood Elent Superpower User, holding a blade in her hand, hiding behind Fang Yuyang, ready to take action if any zombies got close. Bai Ye stood on her other side, masquerading as a second-level Gold Elent Superpower User, occasionally sending Flying Knives at the zombies.
Originally, the battle had been proceeding in an orderly fashion when suddenly, a zombie burst forth from the group, lunging at the team leader! Among these people, it was actually the trio of Fang Yuyang, Fang Yuxin, and Bai Ye who were the strongest; however, they all were in disguise, their energy fluctuations deliberately weakened, making the second-level peak Superpower User team leader a pri target for the zombie.
Its speed was incredibly fast, completely unlike that of a Level 2 Zombie—it was clearly a Level 3 Speed Zombie! In the blink of an eye, the zombie had surged towards the team leader, extending its sharp claws towards the leader’s head and chest.
The others wanted to intervene but were too slow. So scread in terror, instinctively closing their eyes, not daring to see what would happen next. Just as the Level 3 Speed Zombie was about to strike, Wind Blades and Flying Knives struck at its hands and head. Subsequently, Fang Yuxin shot out a green vine from her hands, taking advantage of the brief pause of the Speed Zombie to tie it up securely!
The team leader was quick to seize the opportunity. Battle-hardened with a wealth of experience, she had been caught off-guard by the Speed Zombie’s rapid attack, but she managed to retreat desperately to avoid it. As soon as the zombie’s attack was blocked by the Wind Blades and Flying Knives, she imdiately raised her hand and unleashed a fireball at the zombie’s head.
Fang Yuxin, being a “Second-level Wood Elent Superpower User,” naturally couldn’t entrap the Level 3 Speed Zombie for long, so after a short while, the vine that held it snapped. However, the delay bought by the vine allowed the people to surround the Speed Zombie. These people wasted no words and directly used their most powerful attacks. Speed Zombies were difficult to deal with, especially high-level Speed Zombies, who were notoriously unpredictable!
They had all assud that the Corpse Hunting Team was dealing only with Level 2 Zombies, but the presence of a Level 3 Speed Zombie had caught them off guard! Reflecting back on the scene, everyone from the Corpse Hunting Team felt a chilling relief—if not for the intervention of Fang Yuxin and her companions, their leader would likely have been in grave danger.
There was only one Level 3 Speed Zombie in the zombie squad, trapped by five mbers of the Corpse Hunting Team, including the leader. The remaining twenty-five mbers of the team, along with Fang Yuxin and her two associates, were responsible for handling the rest of the zombies.
The trio had disguised themselves as Superpower Users who had just entered level two, and therefore couldn’t afford to hunt zombies too heroically. So they could only watch as other people collected the sparkling Crystal Cores, feigning helplessness.
After a struggle, the five finally dispatched the Level 3 Speed Zombie. However, due to its incredible speed, all of them unavoidably suffered injuries. Fang Yuxin, as a “Wood Elent Superpower User,” was compelled to heal them. But she wasn’t a true second-level Wood Elent Superpower User, and using True Yuan to heal these people would certainly give her away.
So she extracted so Wood Energy directly from the air around her to treat their wounds. This Wood Energy hadn’t been refined, and Fang Yuxin had intentionally manipulated it, so it wasn’t capable of truly healing them but only managed to restrain the Zombie Virus from further invading their bodies. To receive proper treatnt, they would have to wait until reaching Beishi Base and spend a large number of Crystal Cores to seek out a Level 3 Wood Elent Superpower User’s help.
Fang Yuxin felt guilt laden; she was capable of healing, yet for the sake of infiltrating Beishi Base, she had to pretend to be powerless, watching these people suffer. Worryingly, she asked, “They were scratched by that Level 3 Speed Zombie and infected with the Zombie Virus. Will they be alright?”
With five people wounded in one encounter, including the leader, the rest were visibly agitated. One of them said, “Don’t worry, they’ll be fine!”
Fang Yuxin said no more and, once the zombies’ corpses had been dealt with, went with the people to Beishi Base. The gate was heavily guarded, probably extra vigilant since high-level zombies had previously disguised as humans. Therefore, all three underwent careful questioning. Even the mbers of the Corpse Hunting Team were called in for questioning.
Bai Ye had prepared a story early on and had aligned it with Fang Yuxin and Fang Yuyang, so no matter how they were interrogated, they revealed no discrepancies. Furthermore, a blood test showed they were not infected, and after registering their identities and receiving their ID Cards, they were allowed to enter.
The five infected mbers of the Corpse Hunting Team were taken to the Base hospital. The remaining team mbers were split into two groups—one accompanied the injured to the hospital, and the others, still reasonably polite, helped Fang Yuxin and her companions find sowhere to settle. Given Fang Yuxin’s trio were posing as distressed second-level Superpower Users with few Crystal Cores and resources, they couldn’t afford very luxurious accommodations. Fortunately, a mber of the Corpse Hunting Team had so connections and managed to find them a small compartnt to stay in. (To be continued.
