Chapter 45: Trade Emma for the antivirus serum
Everyone brandished their weapons.
So had knives, so had crossbows.
But there were no firearms.
Obviously, this team’s strength was relatively weak.
No wonder they always sold information. The biggest reason was that they didn’t have the ability to hold their ground.
Alex drew his katana.
He didn’t pull out a pistol; instead, he opted for close combat.
He wanted to test his physical fitness since leveling up, to see where he stood among survivors.
He hadn’t had the chance before, so he couldn’t afford to miss it this ti.
Everyone thought this would be a one-sided slaughter.
And indeed, that was the expectation.
But the result was unexpected.
Alex single-handedly took down three people in an instant, frightening the others from advancing.
Even Alex was surprised.
He had thought that at most, his physical fitness would be slightly better than other survivors’.
But he hadn’t expected to be this ridiculously strong.
His speed was so fast that Emma’s teammates couldn’t even aim their crossbows.
Blood dripped from his katana, and in a flash, he killed three ard survivors.
“Stop, we surrender!”
Isaac Robinson quickly called a halt.
If Alex were allowed to continue, none of them would likely survive.
“May I ask for your na, sir? As long as you release Emma, I, Isaac, will do my utmost to fulfill any condition!”
Alex nodded and said, “My na is Alex. I don’t ask for much, just give the blueprint for the katana.”
“And also, I’m very interested in why Emma wasn’t infected after being bitten by a zombie.”
“The katana blueprint is not a problem, it’s in Emma’s backpack. Mr. Alex, as long as you let Emma open her backpack, you can take it!”
Isaac readily agreed, but then hesitated.
“As for why Emma wasn’t infected…”
Alex squinted his eyes.
Walking up to Emma, he hung the katana by Emma’s neck and said coldly, “It seems, Mr. Isaac, you’re not really concerned about your daughter’s life, are you? Even at this point, you’re still hiding things!”
Isaac beca anxious.
Seeing his beloved daughter possibly in mortal danger, he hastily said, “Stop, stop, stop! Mr. Alex, don’t act impulsively!”
Isaac’s right-hand man was standing by.
Upon hearing Isaac’s compromise, he quickly interjected, “Boss, this won’t do! That thing is the foundation of our team. Revealing it now will invite disaster!”
But Isaac, at this mont, wouldn’t listen to anyone’s advice.
He just wanted his daughter to be safe from harm.
“The reason why Emma wasn’t infected by the zombie bite is entirely because we obtained an antivirus serum.”
Suddenly, Alex understood.
That was why Emma was different from others.
Knowing that Emma had been injected with an antivirus serum, which made her immune to zombie infection, Alex couldn’t help but feel a bit envious.
If he and Mia could both be injected with this serum, it would be a significant safety asure.
After all, the greatest threat in the post-apocalyptic world was still zombies.
If one could be immune to infection, then, with so caution, one could survive until the end by simply hiding in a secluded place.
He must obtain the antivirus serum! This was the first ti he felt such a strong desire.
“I can spare your daughter, and even all of you, I can let you leave unhard. But, I must have the antivirus serum in exchange!”
Isaac frowned.
Finally, he gritted his teeth and agreed.
“Fine, I agree.”
However, the second in command of the team loudly objected, “Boss, this won’t do!”
“Handing over the antivirus serum ans we lose everything! We rely on the antivirus serum to make our fortune. If you hand it over now, you’re cutting off our future!”
Isaac’s face darkened, and he sternly rebuked, “Jack! You must understand, in this team, I am the leader, and what I say goes!”
In the midst of the argunt, the air seed to thicken.
The teammates around the two began to confront each other, seemingly dividing into two factions in the shadows.
Isaac stared at Jack and slowly said, “Jack, if you want to go solo, I won’t stop you. But as long as you’re still in this team, I’m the leader. Do you have any objections to my decisions?”
After a mont of standoff, Jack finally pursed his lips and nodded.
“Okay, okay, you’re the boss! Everyone, you have to listen to the boss!”
Alex watched Isaac and Jack argue from the sidelines, his brow furrowing slightly.
He didn’t care about these internal power struggles.
He only cared about the antivirus serum! Alex impatiently said, “Hand over the antivirus serum quickly, and I’ll release the person. It’s just a matter of a mont, Mr. Isaac doesn’t need to dilly-dally, does he?”
Isaac smiled as he explained, “Mr. Alex, you don’t know, the quantity of antivirus serum is extrely limited. For safety reasons, we didn’t bring it with us, but instead, we’ve assigned soone to guard it.”
“We have to go back to get the antivirus serum before we can trade with Mr. Alex.”
Alex nodded, accepting this explanation.
Then he proposed a condition, “So, it’ll be troubleso, three days from now at noon, bring twenty bottles of antivirus serum to the old spot. We’ll exchange the person for the goods.”
Upon hearing this bold condition, Isaac beca anxious.
“Mr. Alex, we can’t produce twenty bottles of antivirus serum!!”
Alex’s face imdiately turned cold upon hearing this.
He gently brought the tip of the knife closer to Emma’s neck, sneering.
“I made a sincere offer, but I didn’t expect you to be so petty! It’s just twenty bottles of antivirus serum, and you’re saying you can’t produce them?”
Isaac explained sowhat helplessly, “Mr. Alex, it’s not that I’m not sincere enough. Emma’s life is in your hands, how could I not be honest?”
“It’s just that we don’t have as many bottles of antivirus serum as you think!”
After a mont of consideration, Alex understood.
Indeed, if sothing as valuable as antivirus serum were readily available, it wouldn’t make sense.
The threat of the zombies would decrease significantly.
So, Alex changed his tone.
“Alright, I won’t push you. Ten bottles of antivirus serum, that’s the minimum.”
However, Isaac still shook his head, saying, “Mr. Alex, eight bottles!”
“This is all the antivirus serum we have. Initially, we found nine bottles in the supply crate, one of which was unfortunately used by Emma, who was bitten by a zombie. We’ve kept the rest.”
“The remaining ones are all for Mr. Alex!”
Alex carefully observed Isaac’s expression and felt that he wasn’t lying.
“Alright, eight bottles it is!”
“Next, Miss Emma will stay at my villa for three days. Three days later, according to the agreent, we’ll et here, exchange goods for the person.”
