Logan wasn’t a professional military leader. He was very open and talked with Major Bell about his ideas.
But even Bell, who had a lot of experience, was shocked by what Logan really wanted to do.
"Are you planning to take everyone back to Saint Heart City?" Bell stared at Logan, his face full of surprise and worry. "Do you know how many survivors are still out there? I’m telling you, there are at least five thousand people, maybe more."
CEM38 was a small camp near the border between the lost world and Saint Heart City. It was 400 kiloters away from the WF101 checkpoint of Saint Heart City.
That was a long way, and along the way, there were lots of monsters. Even the elite team had to be careful all the ti. They could be surrounded by a beast tide at any mont.
But Logan was talking about leading five thousand survivors through that dangerous path back ho. It seed impossible.
Logan saw Bell’s worry and said confidently, "I can clear the monsters along the way. There are still many military vehicles in the camp, right? We can drive back. It would take no more than four hours to get there."
Bell was shocked when he heard that. "You actually want to drive? Are you crazy? What if the beast tide hears the noise and surrounds us?"
Logan smiled: "Don’t worry. Where I go, there won’t be more than five monsters gathered."
Pfft!
A soldier nearby was drinking water when he heard Logan talking so confidently. He just spit the water all over the place and said: "Man, I finally t soone even more full of hot air than Major Bell!"
Major Bell didn’t get angry at the soldier’s joke. Instead, he handed him a towel.
Then, Bell looked up again and fixed his eyes on Logan, trying to read sothing in his eyes. "So, how are you going to gather all the survivors? They’re spread out over hundreds of kiloters. Finding them all would be a huge job."
Logan could tell that Bell was actually interested, so he said honestly: "Give a few strong engineers, and I’ll fix all the communication stationss around here. Then, Colonel Owen and his team can go rescue the survivors within 100 kiloters. As for those outside that area, I’ll go get them myself."
When Bell heard Logan’s plan, he quickly grabbed a piece of paper and started calculating.
At first, he thought Logan was just talking nonsense, and there was no way it would work.
But if Logan really could fix all the nearby communication stationss, he could use the military network to collect video footage from all the areas. By comparing the videos with satellite maps, he could almost instantly find all the survivors. Then, all that would be left was sending people to bring them back.
After thinking this through, Bell looked up at Logan and said seriously: "There are 400 military towers around here. It would take too long for you to go one by one. I’ll ask Colonel Owen to send 12 engineers to help you. They’ll protect you while you fix the towers. All you need to do is clear the monsters along the way, just like you said."
Then, Bell still looked unsure and added: "But are you sure you can do it? Clearing all those monsters over such a big area isn’t sothing even a Master-stage familiar tar can handle."
Even though Logan’s performance during the day had impressed Bell, he still didn’t think Logan had Legend-stage power.
He could see clearly—Logan had killed that Fallen Blood Elf using a strange fighting style and a perfect timing mont.
To put it plainly, Logan used the information gap in battle tactics and his sharp mind to trick and kill the Fallen Blood Elf.
If the Fallen Blood Elf was brought back to life and they fought again, Logan wouldn’t be able to use the sa trick to kill him.
Logan noticed that Bell Major was testing him, so he stepped forward and stood in front of the Major, locking eyes with him. His eyes flashed with a strong wave of power.
The soldiers nearby all widened their eyes.
"Man, quick! Co see! Soone’s about to challenge our Major in ntal Power!"
"That kid is so bold. Our Major just lost his familiar, but he’s still a Legend!"
"This is going to be good! Who has a good phone, hurry and record it! A Master-stage kid challenging a Legend Major—this is fire!"
As the soldiers started shouting, many survivors in the camp ca out of their tents.
City Guards from Twilight City, Edo Castle, and Storm Wind City also gathered around.
When Owen Colonel heard that Logan was about to challenge Bell Major, he was shocked. "He’s crazy! A Master-stage guy challenging a Legend?"
Right after he ran out of the camp, he saw Izumi Colonel carrying a cara.
Schreiber stood a bit away, already holding his phone and pointing it toward the wall.
Owen looked through their caras and saw the air above the wall trembling. "Damn it, they’re really doing it!"
Schreiber heard Owen’s shout and shook his head with a smile, telling Owen to stay quiet.
The base of a familiar tar’s strength cos from ntal Power.
Whether it’s controlling a familiar in battle, using a familiar’s body, or opening a familiar space, all of it is about ntal Power.
So the easiest way to compare two familiar tars is to fight with their eyes—by matching ntal Power.
But in real combat, there are so many other things to consider—like familiars, battle tactics, and strategies. So not many people really believe the results of a ntal Power match.
However, if you just want to test a familiar tar’s strength, there’s no better way than a ntal Power battle.
On the city wall, Bell Major locked eyes with Logan’s fierce gaze. His own eyes also burned with a fierce fire. "You know, for commanders like us, it’s really frustrating to just watch soldiers fight and not be able to join in ourselves, right?"
With that, Bell Major imdiately pushed his ntal Power and entered the ntal space with Logan.
At that mont, ti and space outside stopped. There was no material world—just two minds clashing.
Logan and Bell Major’s ntal Power flowed like two winds, colliding, mixing, separating, and then colliding again and again.
After countless battles, Bell Major’s ntal Power began to compress and shape into a new body—identical to himself.
Logan saw this and stopped attacking. He also ford his own mindl body.
They both looked at each other and smiled at the sa ti, saying in unison: "You have sothing to say to ?"
When they realized the other had guessed their thoughts, both Bell Major and Logan laughed out loud and sat down together.
Bell Major didn’t waste ti with small talk. He started with a warning: "Logan, you’re too showy. With your current strength, you’re easy to get into trouble."
Then Bell Major started telling his story. "The people in the Federation call the ’Running General,’ but has anyone ever cared about the real story of what I’ve gone through?"
He looked at Logan with a big smile on his face. "You probably don’t know this, but the human federation only controls less than 5% of the world’s land, right?"
When Logan heard this, he was completely stunned.
But Bell Major didn’t care about Logan’s feelings. He just kept telling his story.
It turned out that even though the Human Federation had taken back so land from the Lost World, new Blood Cultivation Realms kept appearing deep inside the Lost World.
These realms were too far and too dangerous for humans to control, so they would eventually go out of control and rge with reality.
A huge number of creatures from other worlds, lands, forests, oceans, and even cities would appear out of nowhere and beco part of this world.
After all these years, the whole world has grown by so much more than before.
Humans have used satellite images to compare and roughly estimate their territory. It’s less than 5% of the whole world.
"It’s kind of ironic, right? The forr rulers of the world, now pushed into the corners of it," Bell Major said with a self-deprecating smile, then beca serious. "Logan, this is the highest secret of the Federation. Only the mbers of the Federation Council, the City Lords of the main cities, and nobles of duke rank or higher are allowed to know. After you leave, don’t go around talking about it."
Then Bell Major sighed deeply and started to tell his story.
It turned out that the Human Federation never gave up trying to take back their position as the world’s rulers.
To do this, they not only took back a lot of land and built cities, but so of the strongest humans even left the human territories and went deep into the Lost World to build cities of their own.
Those cities were at least tens of thousands of kiloters away from human territory. The people who lived there kept fighting against the monsters from the other world.
At the sa ti, they slowly adapted to the rules of the other world and gained powers that were way beyond the limits of the Federation’s familiar tars.
"The first Saint-stage warrior in human history was born in those cities," Bell said with another self-deprecating smile. "But unfortunately, so of those Saint-stage warriors betrayed the Federation and declared independence. To fight them, the Federation sent out expedition armies every few years to attack the rebels. And I was the commander of the vanguard in the last expedition."
When Logan heard this, he was stunned for a mont. "Then why did you run away without fighting them? They’re traitors, right?"
When Logan asked the question, Bell let out a sarcastic smile. "Traitors? When it cos to survival, who betrayed whom is still unclear."
It turned out that Bell had discovered that the independent city was actually holding back the monsters all by itself, fighting alone.
Thanks to that city, the Saint Heart City in the northern part of the Federation could keep developing without being disturbed by monsters.
"So, if soone was protecting you and keeping the dangers away, would you stab them in the back?" Bell’s voice got more and more excited. "At that ti, the Federation’s commander saw that the city was weak after fighting a big beast attack, and that’s why he sent to finish them off."
