The fallen blood elf never expected to be killed by a human in such a strange way.

"Victor... won’t forgive you..." With those words, her body turned into ashes and disappeared completely.

At the sa ti, all the monsters she had controlled stopped moving and stood like statues.

Suddenly, a bunch of blood-colored worms crawled out of the monsters’ bodies. They struggled and trembled, and disappeared with the blood elf.

Logan looked at the blood worms and imdiately thought of the blood elf’s skill, [Parasitic Blood Worms].

"That’s why she could control such a big monster army." Logan said, bending down to pick up the blood elf’s soul crystals and tossing them into his familiar space. "But she just ntioned Victor... what does that an?"

He frowned deeply. "I hope I’m just imagining things. I just hope this Victor is just so random person with the sa na."

anwhile, at the front gate of CEM38 base.

Colonel Owen, Colonel Izumi, and Colonel Schreiber watched with their mouths open as Logan reached out 500 ters through thin air and cut down the monster leader with one swing.

At that mont, all three of them were completely shocked.

Schreiber rubbed his eyes, confused. "What kind of power is this? Do we even need to protect him? The duke is really making fun of ."

Izumi kept her eyes fixed on Logan, her expression dark. "Don’t you find it strange? There’s never been any ntion of Logan having this kind of battle style. He didn’t use anything like this during the first round of the Genius Training Camp. So, could he have been controlled by the monsters too?"

Owen caught the hint of insult in Izumi’s words and said coldly: "Colonel Izumi, Logan has the right to use different tactics against different enemies. Your guess without any proof is just trying to damage our Twilight City students."

After saying that, Colonel Owen pulled out a dagger from his leg and waved it at Colonel Izumi. "If you keep targeting our people from Twilight City, don’t say I didn’t warn you."

At that mont, Schreiber stood beside Owen, his eyes fixed on Izumi’s throat. "I back Owen up. If you don’t behave, I’ll break your neck."

Being pushed around like that, Colonel Izumi muttered under his breath:"Damn it!"

But knowing the strength of Schreiber and Owen, he could only turn and walk back toward the camp.

Two kiloters away from the group.

Logan was collecting monster corpses while moving toward the camp gate.

At that mont, the Black Ant Queen was working hard to lay eggs.

To prepare for the next big battle, Logan needed more black ant warriors.

So he kept collecting the monster bodies, throwing them all into his familiar space as food for the Black Ant Queen.

Just then, Tracy and Jessica arrived with the surviving group.

Along the way, they only t a few scattered monsters. So eager familiar tars even complained because they hadn’t gotten to fight much.

But when they saw the huge pile of thousands of monster corpses on the ground, they all fell silent, their throats dry and no words coming out.

Logan felt the eyes on him and turned around to look at his tired friends. He smiled and said: "You guys got lucky. CEM38 base is still standing."

When the group heard that, they all looked toward the distance.

After seeing the human soldiers on the walls of CEM38 base, the survivors all started to tear up.

Especially when they saw the tall walls of the camp, a strong sense of safety ca from deep inside them.

"Great! With this base’s defenses, we can finally get a good night’s sleep!"

"Old people and kids can rest properly. And we strong ones can finally fight without holding back!"

"Exactly! Let’s go et them and have a real fight with those damn monsters!"

The survivors were full of energy and made their way to the front gate of CEM38 base.

Colonel Owen stood there, stunned by the sight of a group of nearly 200 people.

Although they looked really ragged, their ntal state was surprisingly good. They didn’t look like people who had just survived a beast tide.

Even so kids were running around, playing with sticks, with no fear at all on their faces.

Schreiber, seeing this, slapped his forehead and muttered, "What the hell?"

But Colonel Izumi was polite. He stepped forward and greeted the survivors: "You all had a hard ti. I’m Colonel Izumi from the Edo Castle City Guard. I ca here to save you."

He then approached an old man, trying to help him into the camp.

But the old man didn’t even look at him and walked straight into the base.

Izumi didn’t get angry. He changed his target and went to a little boy instead. "Hey little brother, are you tired? Let carry you in. I’m an elite warrior from Edo Castle."

Before he could even touch the boy, the boy’s father quickly picked him up.

"Sorry, sir. We’re too dirty. We don’t want to trouble you." The man looked coldly at Colonel Izumi, his voice emotionless.

Izumi was completely stunned. He looked around and saw that everyone was treating him with complete indifference.

"Did you all misunderstand ?" he asked gently, trying to explain.

At that mont, Tracy stepped out of the crowd and slapped Izumi’s shoulder, leaving a dirty mark. "Sir, after this beast tide lasted so long, your clothes are still clean and sll nice. Did you even kill any monsters?"

Her voice was full of mockery. She stepped closer, sniffed Izumi, and laughed: "That’s the sll of gardenia. Your taste is really special. Next ti, I’ll introduce my sisters to you. You two can go shopping together."

After saying that, Tracy laughed loudly and walked straight into the camp, leaving Colonel Izumi standing alone, his face dark and angry.

Just as he was about to lose his temper and shout, a small figure walked up to him, looking nervous. "Umm... umm..."

Colonel Izumi, finally feeling noticed, quickly cald down his anger and put on what he thought was a cool and friendly smile. "Madam, I’m Colonel Izumi from Edo Castle City Guard. It’s my pleasure to help you!"

The girl, seeing his kind expression, finally found the courage to step forward and asked, "So... what kind of perfu do you use? It slls really nice. I want to recomnd it to my grandma..."

As soon as she finished speaking, her face turned red like an apple.

But what she said sounded completely different to Colonel Izumi.

How could soone like , a strong familiar tar, be asked not for help but for a perfu brand?

Even worse, she wanted to recomnd it to her grandma? I’m a high-ranking officer, a master-stage familiar tar. My taste in perfu is so old-fashioned?

At that mont, Colonel Izumi was about to break down.

anwhile, Schreiber and Owen, who were nearby, were already laughing so hard they bent over.

Hearing their laughter, Izumi turned around and gave them a deadly look.

"Sorry, I couldn’t hold it in! Hahaha..." Schreiber didn’t care about Izumi’s death glare and kept laughing.

"I, I’m laughing so hard my stomach hurts. Are you even over thirty? Using old lady perfu, hahaha..." Colonel Owen held his stomach, completely ignoring his officer image.

Because their laughter was too loud, nearby survivors turned their heads and started to glance at Colonel Izumi, and a few even chuckled quietly.

Colonel Izumi stood there, trembling all over, and finally exploded in anger: "You guys... you bastards! I’m so angry I could scream!"

...

The survivors’ resettlent went smoothly.

CEM38 base had survived the monster attack, but it had also taken heavy losses.

The empty dorms, weapons, food, and dicine in the base were just what the survivors needed.

Especially, nearly 200 survivors included about 80 familiar tars, which perfectly filled the gap in the base’s fighting power.

Bell Major spent half the day organizing these new familiar tars into his team.

At the sa ti, Logan had finished cleaning up the battlefield and had done a full check around the camp.

He landed on the camp wall, sitting on the back of his horned hawk, Red Feather.

When Bell Major saw the young man who had saved so many people, he stood up imdiately, and the tired look on his face disappeared in an instant.

"Young man, thanks for saving all these people," Bell said, reaching out his hand to greet Logan.

Logan gently shook the middle-aged man’s hand, but he noticed that the man’s hand was soft and weak.

At the sa ti, Logan also saw the prison uniform on Bell’s body.

He frowned slightly but said nothing, just nodded and replied: "Major Bell, Colonel Owen told your story. Thank you for holding the line for humanity."

Logan spoke with real sincerity. Without CEM38 base, he would have had to lead the survivors through the wild, living in hardship.

Now, the wild was full of crazy monsters. Even Logan couldn’t promise to clear every one of them.

And just a mont ago, he had already received the latest satellite map from Natalia.

The map clearly showed that, after the first small wave of beast tides, only CEM38 and CEM27 bases were still standing outside Saint Heart City.

Because of that, Logan truly respected Major Bell.

How could soone under arrest lead humans to hold back a beast tide?

This achievent and skill proved that he was not the cowardly general people had said he was.

Bell could tell Logan was being sincere. For a mont, the tired man smiled slightly. "You’re still looking for more survivors around here, right? Let give you so advice..."
