534: Chapter 240: Sobody?
Nobody?
Old Mo disappeared.
Lin Yi confird several tis before he finally accepted the fact.
No wonder he had felt sothing was off on the way; it turned out Old Mo had disappeared!
When Old Mo was around, even though there was an unnerving feeling, the entire Student Passage was relatively normal, but now that Old Mo was gone, changes had manifested for Lin Yi.
This change might not be detectable by most people, and even Tian Bufan seed oblivious, but Lin Yi felt it.
It was an indescribable change, yet one that always felt sowhat awkward.
It’s like the tree outside your window that was blooming, but after a sudden rainstorm when the flowers had all fallen, at first glance, you wouldn’t find the tree odd, but once you rember the flowers had been there, the now bare tree would look awkward no matter how you looked at it.
There was no ti to ponder Old Mo’s situation or what the ghostly appearance behind the plastic curtain after Wei Liang lifted it ant, as so changes in the Student Cafeteria imdiately caught Lin Yi’s attention.
First was the issue with lighting.
The range of the incandescent lights in the cafeteria had noticeably shrunken, and out of the 5 al windows, only the middle three were open, leaving window 1 and window 5 on the far left and far right, respectively, shrouded in shadow.
Despite this, there were queues in front of all 5 al windows.
However, Lin Yi could now sense the “breath” of those in line, whether it was at al window 1 or al window 5, all those lined up were not “people,” but Pseudo-Humans.
If he focused more carefully, he could classify them between “Newborn Pseudo-Human Experiencees” and “Pseudo-Human Sculptures.”
“Right!
If one had to say, those who were deceived by the Pseudo-human art teacher and Art Students, they seem to have a ‘scent’ similar to them.” Lin Yi’s eyes twitched, “Could those ‘people’ be the Units desperately lacking ‘Identity Credentials’?”
The Art Student Rules ntioned that if you find a Student ID card while staying overnight in the Teaching Building classrooms, you should keep them and then take them to the Art Teacher…
And these people in line seem not to really be eating, but rather…
hunting.
Lin Yi didn’t know if his guess was accurate because when he used his card earlier, he could clearly sense so “malice” and “negative emotions” coming from the darker areas around him; perhaps these emotions were emanating from them.
Beyond the two queues and the issue with the lighting in the cafeteria, Lin Yi also noticed several chefs in blue aprons seed to have left the al windows and moved into the range of the Student Cafeteria.
Yes, chefs in blue aprons, not the ones in green aprons.
Strikingly, as of now, he had not seen any chefs in green aprons, but the behavior of those in blue aprons oddly resembled the green-aproned ones.
They moved through the cafeteria like ghosts; even though their bodies were obscured by others, normal people’s movents tend to have swaying or a bobbing motion, but those blue-aproned chefs had none.
Their movent was like floating, akin to the abbot from the “Food God.”
And whether it was an illusion or sothing else, in Lin Yi’s heart there was this fuzzy feeling as if those blue-aproned chefs kept glancing over at him now and then.
This feeling was like soone whispering in his ear – ah, you’ve offended the abbot, you’re dood!
“Old Lin…” Wei Liang rubbed his arms, calling out softly, “Do you guys feel that, the cafeteria is kind of spooky today…
there’s hardly anyone around here!”
“It is indeed a bit eerie,” Lin Yi nodded.
Wei Liang then continued, “Especially at al windows 1 and 5, there’s actually no queue, what do you think, Old Lin?”
“Hmm, yes…
wait, hold on?!” Lin Yi was cautiously observing the surroundings when he heard Wei Liang and Tian Bufan’s words and was just about to agree when he suddenly shivered uncontrollably with dread, “No, no one?!”
He swallowed hard, not daring to twist his neck too much, he only allowed his eyeballs to move left and right, looking back at al window 1 and al window 5.
This ti, however, he couldn’t help but discover all the people lined up at both al window 1 and al window 5 had turned into those Newborn Pseudo-Human Experiencees he had seen sculpted by the streetlamp…
The sculpted students with their limbs and bodies terribly maid, heads caked with soil and grass, had eyeballs so pale one couldn’t tell if they were flesh or stone; all of them turned around, expressionless, facing Lin Yi.
Like two rows of humanoid tombstones.
It made Lin Yi feel like he was encircled by a Heretical Choir all over again.
Gradually, distortions started appearing on the edges of his peripheral vision, and the humanoid tombstones began to sway minutely, like seaweed fluttering with the wind…
“Damn it!”
Lin Yi felt a chill run down his spine; he blinked fiercely and shook his head, causing those eerie presences to quickly collapse in silence.
“Huff, huff, huff…” he panted after the scare, then took another look at those shadowy areas.
This ti, the distorted human-shaped tombstones had indeed disappeared, but the Pseudo-Humans were still there, and he could still see the Pseudo-Humans queuing up…
