Dark and Oliver stood at the front of the forest, after clearing out the demonized, but getting into the forest would still take so more effort. The knights were weak, and so were the adventurers. Though losses had greatly reduced, it was still very hard to push forward.

"The n are weak. We might have to push forward ourselves," Dark said.

"They gave their all, but n have their limits," Oliver said.

"Don’t be too quick to enter. Seems you have so backup," a male voice ca from behind them. They turned around to see a lean, shirtless man with a long beard and red hair. He staggered from side to side with a jar in hand.

He was the drunkard, their friend who drank so much his na was lost in wine. Now he was called drunkard.

"Drunkard, I thought you were helping Lady Emily with the injured at the back," Dark said.

"She can handle it, and I also ca to tell you that we have so backup," he said in a slur and pointed to the distance, showing hundreds of horses riding toward them, raising a banner of a sword and a spear crossed on a skull.

"Seems your son called on his brother and sister, the Black Skull rcenaries," Drunkard said.

"Hmm, he put up with his brother and sister for the town. He has indeed grown," Oliver said. He turned back, looking at his son that stood in the distance helping the injured. He gave him a nod, and his son nodded back.

"Since we have backup now, we can finally take down the gate," Dark said. He took a strong step forward, but then suddenly, there was a wave. It spread far and wide like a pulse, striking uncontrollable fear into the hearts of everyone that was around, all the way to the people in the town.

Dark, Oliver, and Drunkard looked at the forest. They could see the demonized coming, but beyond the demonized, sothing else had co out of that gate.

Oliver turned around. He opened his mouth, screaming to those at the back to run, but it seed ti had gone into a standstill there.

A still and calm voice sounded. "Demon Art, Oga Beam."

For a mont, everywhere went silent, no, not silent, all sound was stolen. And then all color was stolen. It was as if everyone was frozen; they couldn’t move at all.

A ball of light ford inside the forest. It got bigger and bigger, then it compressed. All the trees around it were obliterated just by being near.

There was a hand behind the beam, and then that hand flicked it. The sound of a bomb dropping, like a whistle, tore through the silence, and the beam was fired.

It ripped through the group, tore the sky, destroyed the forest. It covered over twenty ters wide and twenty ters tall, a massive beam. It slamd through the walls of the town, destroyed every house in its path, and tore through the other side of the town. The blast continued for several hundred ters before stopping.

After the blast, there was a cold and painful silence, followed by screams so horrendous they filled the skies. People had been evaporated in only seconds, loved ones, families, all gone in an instant.

A figure walked, using the path that his attack had created. He was tall, lean, and ripped. His entire body was covered in red patterns. There were two bat-like wings on his back. His eyes glowed crimson red.

He stood at the edge of the forest, gaze cold as ice. "Hmm, I wanted to make it to their capital. Why was I dropped here?" he spoke calmly. He twisted his neck and cracked it.

"Master will surely be vexed if he discovers that I ca out here, but whatever, it’s ti I had so fun," he muttered. He stretched his hands to the back and tied his long black hair into a ponytail.

He took one step forward. He sensed sothing coming. He pulled back fast, and several tal spikes shot into the place where he had just been standing.

He looked up and saw Dark rushing at him, black sword covered in fla and rage in his eyes.

"DEMONNNNN!" Dark roared. He slashed. The sword extended in length. The demon looked at the sword, and then threw a punch.

BOOM

The sword was stopped right there. The demon’s hand suffered not one single bruise. Dark was stunned, but he wasn’t scared. He pulled the sword back and attacked again. He went into a frenzy of attacks, left, right, stab, and slash.

The demon blocked and dodged the attacks with finesse. He looked at Dark with a smile. "You are a fun human. Please, show more," he said before grabbing the sword and pulling Dark in. He spun around and sent a kick right into Dark’s chest, sending Dark flying.

But as soon as Dark was thrown back, Oliver leaped into the air, coming out of nowhere. He slashed down, his sword crackled with lightning.

"Hmm? Another one? Interesting," the demon said before throwing a terrifying punch, shattering Oliver’s sword, hitting his chest, and sending him flying.

With this happening, the demonized were still rushing toward the town. Riven’s father and the boys had managed to escape that initial blast. He rose to his feet and looked at the demonized rushing toward them. His body trembled in fear.

His breathing was erratic and all over the place. His eyes were red. He looked forward and collapsed to his knees. Nearly all the n that stood with them had been killed, so had half of their bodies vaporized, and so were completely gone.

He looked to his side and saw the head of a young adventurer, the sa adventurer that had co here to fight and ensure his mother and sister were safe.

His head lay in the dirt, eyes open, an expression of fear frozen on his face. Riven’s father stretched out his hands slowly. He touched the face, his hands shaking, as he closed the eyes of the boy.
