Riven and Sofia were fighting a Demonized together. Riven leaped into the air and stabbed down at the Demonized, but suddenly, it vanished, leaving no trace.

He landed on the ground and looked at Sofia. She was also confused, not knowing what had happened.

"Did sothing go wrong?" he asked.

"I don’t know," she responded. They looked around, wondering if this was a special ability of the Demonized—possibly it was a mutated one—but it wasn’t.

"We should head back to the cabin to be safe," Riven said. They were about to head out, but then they heard screaming.

Curious, they headed in that direction, running fast through the forest, and then they spotted so of their classmates running. But not only them—there was a mix of second years, the ones that had co to help in the exam as well.

Riven beca confused; he could see the dread on their faces. He stretched out his hand and grabbed one of them, pulling him to the side.

"What the hell is happening?" he asked the boy, but he was far too shaken from fear. He tried to speak, but his words ca out as stamrs.

But Riven didn’t have to wait anymore as he saw what was coming—tendrils ripping through the forest, tearing trees apart. One tendril wrapped around a girl, and before anyone could do anything, it squeezed her and snapped her in two before draining the life out of her right there.

When Riven saw this, he knew that the situation was no longer a simulation. Sothing had gone wrong. He let go of the boy, and he imdiately scurried away.

"We have to run, we don’t know what that thing is yet," Sofia said, urging him. He nodded and was about to run as well, but the next second, all that changed.

"RIVEEEEEEEEN!" Luke roared his na. It reached Riven’s ears. He turned in shock, and that’s when he saw Luke’s face.

He froze, recalling who he was. Oh no, he could already tell that this situation had sothing to do with him—he could feel it.

[The one loved by chaos has been activated]

[Urgent Mission: A Creation of Your Decision]

[Defeat the creature that your decision made. Lives are at stake, and every mont you waste, soone dies because of you]

[Rewards: Unknown]

Riven read the mission. It confird his thoughts—Luke had co for him.

"Sofia, run," Riven said.

"What do you an run? We are running together," she said.

"No, you have to find an instructor and bring them here. I’ll hold off those creatures," Riven said.

"I’m not doing that," she said bluntly. He wanted to argue, but she slowly shook her head. "I can’t allow you to die. I need you," she said, not offering any more context. She left Riven stunned.

After a few seconds, he cracked a smile. "Alright then," he said, gripping his sword tight. The flas ignited, and as if that was the signal, Luke looked his way. Their eyes t.

Luke stopped attacking. He stared at Riven—the object of his hatred, the cause of his loss, and the one he would never forgive.

"Riven," he muttered, his voice hoarse and heavy. He was more of a shell than anything else.

"You want , right? You ca all this way for . Leave the rest out of it. I can already imagine what it is that made you so angry—you feel I took your spot in the academy.

But the others have nothing to do with it. It’s all , so fight ," Riven said.

"Your words an nothing. I just want you dead," Luke said. He pointed his hand, and a tendril shot at Riven. It was fast—very fast.

Riven barely reacted in ti and blocked it, but he was pushed back imdiately. Luke followed with another attack, but there was no way Riven would block that.

Sofia cast a spell as quickly as possible, shooting a stream of pressured water. It slamd into the tendril and knocked it aside.

Luke looked at her in rage and attacked, slamming her with a brutal tendril and sending her into a tree a few tens of ters away.

"Sofia!" Riven shouted.

"Focus on !" Luke roared and attacked. Two tendrils ripped through the air. They slamd into Riven’s chest and sent him flying through several trees before rolling to a stop, his body bruised badly.

He vomited blood and slowly got to his feet.

’This power... how could he get this strong? He’s far stronger than the Demonized—what did he do?’ Riven began thinking, but Luke wasn’t giving him ti. Four tendrils hurled toward him again.

Riven gritted his teeth and blocked the first one. He used the recoil to his advantage and blocked the second and third. He tried to parry the fourth, but he barely managed—it brushed the side of his stomach and ripped into it, drawing blood and leaving a nasty wound.

Riven felt the pain rush all over his body. He wanted to cry out, but there wasn’t ti. He gritted his teeth even harder and used Fla Blast.

Luke used tendrils to block Fla Blast. The attack destroyed the tendrils, but Luke was safe.

"Fuck," Riven cursed. He leaped backward and put so distance between them. He noticed a boy hiding behind a tree—the boy’s leg was broken and he couldn’t run anymore. He must have tripped while running.

The boy stood there, shivering in fear, his body drenched in sweat.

’If I keep going back, he’s going to be caught in the crossfire. I have to push the battle away from here,’ Riven resolved in his mind. But before he could do that, he was attacked with three tendrils—fast and sharp.

He made a quick fla wall, and it managed to block the attack for a few seconds before they ripped through with force. There was nowhere else to go. He was forced to take a few steps back, allowing Luke to co into a range where he could see the boy.

Luke locked eyes with the boy.
