Boom
Sword and flaming fist collided. Richard was imdiately thrown a few ters back, and Luke was sent flying through the air.
Richard skidded along the sand and finally ca to a stop. He looked up at Luke and saw him getting up as well.
"He withstood my attack. He withstood the attack of a sixth circle battle mage? Who is this person?" Richard asked.
He knew his strength, and despite the fact that he was not the top of this kingdom, he was still one of the best battle mages. Standing at a solid sixth circle, his strength was not to be trifled with.
In this world, mages and battle mages were categorized into circles, starting from the first circle all the way to the ninth. Each circle was a level of growth that had to do with the spirit zone.
The spirit zone was a sort of pseudo dinsion that everyone had. One layer of the spirit zone ant that the person was in the first circle. And in that stage, all that mattered was pushing the size and strength of your spirit zone.
Until it finally reached your max, and then you could attempt a breakthrough to create the second layer of the spirit zone, making you a second circle.
Richard was a prodigy in his own right, reaching the sixth circle before the age of thirty. Though he couldn’t be compared to soone like Quin, he wasn’t weak as well.
Richard stood straight and pointed his sword at Luke. "I don’t know what you are or who you are, but frankly, I’m tired of you already. I should be resting now, not indulging in this fight.
So, I’ll make this attack my last and get rid of you," Richard said. Bolts of lightning as thick as an arm began gathering from his body, striking the ground and blasting the sand to form small craters.
He channeled the lightning into the sword that he held. It buzzed with fury, shined like a small silver sun, ready to destroy all that stood in its way.
Luke looked at the sword and looked at Richard. He could feel the imnse power that was coming from him, and even in this form, he felt terrified.
But he wasn’t going to back down—no, he wanted his vengeance, and he would do anything for it. He lunged forward, tendrils and flas ajar, all out to attack Richard.
Richard let out a calm smirk, took one step forward, and vanished. Luke imdiately started looking around for Richard but couldn’t see him.
Crackle.
Then, a sound as if the sky had been torn filled the air. Bolts of lightning struck every direction as Richard ca from above, sword in hand, ready to end it all.
Luke was filled with fear, unable to move or do anything. The attack landed.
Boom
A massive explosion of light followed. The air was charged up, and a massive crater was ford. Luke lay in the middle, roasted to the core, no longer moving or breathing.
Richard was about to confirm his death, when suddenly, he heard a call.
"Sir Richard," a student called out, standing at the edge of the crater. Richard looked up, and on seeing the student, he walked out and saw all the rest that had been inside the ship. He had forgotten about them while he was fighting.
"Sir Richard, what’s going on?"
"Sir Richard, what was that sound?"
...
They started asking questions all around—so scared, so curious. They were inside the ship when it was getting ripped apart, so they knew that sothing was going on.
"It was nothing, just a little issue. You don’t need to worry about anything," Richard said, assuring them. But then suddenly, a shadow passed over his head. Richard looked up and saw that it was a tendril.
He thought it was for him and got ready to fight it off, but it went past and grabbed a student—a girl—and pulled her into the crater while she scread. The other students saw the scene and imdiately ran away, not wanting to be next.
Richard looked into the crater and saw Luke standing there, burnt skin slowly healing, his face barely recognizable.
The girl scread in the tendril, kicking and struggling, tears pouring down her eyes, but she couldn’t get out.
"You didn’t die? What are you?" Richard asked.
Luke didn’t respond. He simply raised the girl above his mouth like he was going to eat her. She scread and scread.
Richard dashed forward the mont he saw that, lightning crackling from his feet as he ran, arms stretched out to save her.
But suddenly, the tendril threw her far away with force. Richard’s eyes widened in shock. He bit his lower lip, lightning crackled all over his body as his speed increased into a flash. He got to the girl in a second and caught her, but as he did that, he had let his guard down.
From behind, two tendrils ca—STAB. They penetrated his body. Blood spilled, pouring on the girl’s face. She scread as she saw the tendrils in Richard.
Richard staggered. He dropped the girl on the ground, blood spilling from his mouth.
"Hahaha, hahahaha! No one—no one will stop !" Luke roared, and used the tendrils to throw Richard deep into the water. He was so filled with rage he didn’t even bother to eat him.
The students watched from a distance, and when they saw that Richard lost, they ran—ran with everything they had in them into the forest.
Now that Richard was gone, no one was controlling the island. Quin had wanted to use Yue’s automated mode, but since Richard was here, it was left to him.
Without Richard, the simulation would stop altogether, but it would also an that anyone Luke killed now would die truly.
"I’m coming for you, Riven and Noel," he said and started walking toward the forest, his body still healing up from the attack Richard had landed.
[Note: A more proper and fine-tuned power and magic scaling system will be used here on out. I’ll try my best to integrate it properly.]
