Chapter 492: Chapter 258: Have you heard of Lolita Island?

David nodded slightly, indicating his agreent with the statent.

“However,” Nisen continued, “forming an alliance with them is just one option. The midterm elections are coming, and all the forces in Arica are competing for seats in Congress. I think we might need to get involved as well. As long as we have influence in Congress, we won’t have to look at anyone’s face in the future, not even those high-ups at the headquarters!”

“You’re right!”

David slapped his thigh vigorously.

Freemasonry had already nad him as soone not to be let into headquarters. He definitely couldn’t get in for the ti being, so it would be better to ddle in the shuffle for congressional seats before the midterm elections.

As long as he could control so power in Congress, the likes of Bellamy Hattie, Brown Soros, and even the higher-ups at headquarters wouldn’t be a concern!

Now that he thought about it, he seed to have relied too heavily on the IRS before. This made him very passive, as he could only silently accept whenever the higher-ups made a decision against him.

If he developed his own connections or influence, as Nisen was saying now—having a certain authority in Congress—then the higher-ups at headquarters wouldn’t dare to treat him just as a subordinate anymore.

It was ti to develop so allied forces of his own!

With this thought, David’s eyes gradually sharpened, and then he looked up at Nisen and said, “It seems that you’re going to walk this path with !”

“Although this path has certain risks, as the saying goes, the greater the storm, the more valuable the fish!”

Nisen was well aware of the principle of seeking wealth amidst danger, and what he knew even better was that his relationship with David was one of shared honor and shared loss.

If David fell, so would he.

And if David rose, or even took control of the IRS one day, then he would undoubtedly be the one who ranked just below one person but above thousands. Naturally, he was willing to take a gamble.

“What a phrase, ‘the greater the storm, the more valuable the fish,’ cheers!”

The two n raised their beer bottles together and downed them in one go…

While the two n were having their secret conversation, at the sa ti, in the Broadway Theatre in the center of the City of Los Angeles.

This was a movie palace that could accommodate 2,000 people with a luxurious interior design, especially the Baroque-style grand hall, which was a popular photo spot on Instagram.

In 1979, the theatre was listed in Arica’s National Register of Historic Places and designated as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monunt.

At that mont, inside the theatre, a group of ballet dancers were performing their beautiful dance moves to an enraptured audience.

But what no one noticed was that, in a corner to the west side of the audience seating, a man was letting out a cold sneer.

This man was none other than David’s old acquaintance, Elvis, the CIA Bear Country Station Manager.

“Listen, once the performance ends, act as she gets offstage, but don’t make a ss of things for . I want her alive!”

Elvis muttered to himself.

The stage performance continued until the curtain fell ten minutes later. The ballet dancers elegantly bowed to the audience before slowly making their way to the backstage doors.

As the fifth ballet dancer passed through the curtain, two sudden shadows made her hair stand on end, but before she could react, a numbing sensation from her body made her collapse to the ground.

“The stun gun from the equipnt departnt really works, even well-trained spies can’t withstand a single shot,” one of them remarked.

The two figures who popped out were Jero and Brod, two CIA agents. After their comnt, they imdiately dragged the unconscious woman from the back door and left, finally getting into a Chevrolet that had been parked there earlier and driving away.

Half an hour later, in the industrial park of the Long Beach District, the Chevrolet that had left Broadway made its way there, navigating a series of turns before stopping in a container-like shed.

The car doors opened, and Jero and Brod stepped out, opened the trunk, and carried the bound and unconscious ballet dancer out.

At the door of the shed, Brod pressed a button, and a specialized tal fra popped out. After facial recognition, the door of the container clicked open.

This was a CIA safe house, stocked with ergency equipnt, weapons, surveillance, interrogation tools, and other equipnt.

Jero and Brod dragged the ballet dancer to a chair in the interrogation room and secured her.

By that ti, Elvis had also arrived at the site and said, “Wake her up.”

Brod imdiately picked up a bucket, unscrewed the lid, and poured it over the face of the ballet dancer.

“Cough, cough, cough…”

Seven or eight seconds later, the overwhelming sensation of suffocation woke the dancer. After looking at the people in front of her and the surrounding environnt, she frantically said, “Who are you… Why have you brought here?”

Elvis revealed a sinister smile and mocked, “Playing innocent at this point, Lady Canary!”

Indeed, the person they had brought back was none other than the spy codenad Canary, the one who had destroyed their CIA Bear Country Station and whom they had been desperately searching for.

Of course, to David, she also had a familiar na—Maggie!

“What Canary? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m just a ballet dancer, you’ve got the wrong person,” she said.
