Chapter 491: Chapter 257: The Dilemma David Faces_4

So just a few minutes later, he arrived at the front door of David’s residence. Seeing the door was not closed, he simply pushed it open and walked in, then casually shut it behind him.

Inside, David was standing in front of the refrigerator, retrieving two bottles of draft beer. As David approached, he tossed one over, and Nisen caught it.

“Psst…”

The two sat down, popped the tabs, and took a sip before David said, “Do you know what Deputy Director Donald talked to about today?”

“What?”

Nisen was actually quite eager to know, but sotis if David didn’t volunteer the information, as a subordinate, it wasn’t his place to ask.

“Bellamy Hattie and Brown Soros were suddenly transferred to the head office, and it was actually arranged by the Freemasonry Group…”

After hearing what had been said, Nisen was stunned.

He knew that the transfers of Bellamy Hattie and Brown Soros to the head office must have involved so powers behind the scenes, but he hadn’t expected it would be the legendary behemoth, Freemasonry.

What made his scalp tingle even more was that even David was being targeted by Freemasonry, specifically barred from the head office. That was pretty ruthless!

“Damn it, the damned Freemasonry, the damned Morgan Family!”

For soone in the tax bureau system, nearly everyone dread of one day making it into the head office, and Nisen was no exception.

He had originally thought that with David’s rise, and as his trusted lieutenant, it was a sure thing that he would follow him into the head office in the future.

But who could have foreseen Freemasonry stepping in suddenly and throwing a wrench into things? Given Freemasonry’s well-known influence, to say his dreams were shattered might be an overstatent, but they were certainly on shaky ground.

“And just now, Selina ca to talk to and so of what she said… I think there’s so truth to it. She said…”

David conveyed the conversation and ideas he had discussed with Selina.

After listening, Nisen’s expression also grew heavy, and he said thoughtfully, “She does make so valid points. Given your current situation as director, breaking through Freemasonry’s obstacles to ascend to the head office ans you must handle the tax work with flying colors.”

“But to make the tax work look good, we will inevitably have to touch the interests of the Jewish People, the Ansa Group, or other major families, which is also very dangerous.”

David took a swig of his beer and asked, “So what do you think I should do?”

“Hiss…”

Nisen’s face showed a mont of conflict, then slowly resolved into determination, and he said, “The successful passage of the Black Tax Act owes much to your efforts, director, and now the public supports you so much, it really wouldn’t be right to back down…”

“So you an… I should accept the Kennedy Family’s alliance?”

Having lived a second life, David was indeed not content to be thwarted by anyone and have his rising light extinguished.

As the saying goes, a soldier who doesn’t want to be a general is not a good soldier.

Now that he was part of the tax bureau system, aiming for the ultimate position of head of the head office was naturally his ultimate goal.

Even though the road was fraught with difficulty and danger, he had no desire to give up.

His reason for calling Nisen over was, in part, to seek so psychological comfort and support, so he wouldn’t feel like he was fighting alone.

“The only reason you’ve been reluctant to get too close to the Kennedy Family is because you fear being targeted by Freemasonry, but now that Freemasonry has co after you personally, what’s there to worry about?”

Nisen’s words suddenly cleared David’s mind.

Shit!

Yes!

Now that Freemasonry was already coming after him, worrying about that problem would be superfluous, wouldn’t it?

So looking at it that way, allying with the Kennedy Family seed to be more advantageous than harmful.

“Although the Kennedy Family has been suppressed by Freemasonry over the years, they are still one of Arica’s four great families, and they still have power. Given the current situation, allying with them seems like a good choice.”
