Hoover rushed to Atlantic City imdiately after receiving Donnie’s call.
Hoover had been paying close attention to the Teapot Do oil field scandal, and recently, his Bureau of Investigation had also dispatched people to probe the matter.
However, this investigation wasn’t authorized from above, so Hoover could only conduct it in secret!
Now that Donnie had called to tell him that Albert Fall was ready to confess everything he knew, Hoover’s heart was imnsely stirred.
This scandal was destined to beco a scandal recorded in the annals of history, and it surely involved a significant number of people, especially White House officials and the President.
Additionally, coming to Atlantic City with Hoover were Rhode Granger and Olden.
Externally, both were Hoover’s trusted confidants.
Donnie t with Hoover in his own office. Hoover, now the director of the Bureau of Investigation, carried an air of authority.
However, Donnie was not fazed by this presence, and with a smile, he said, “Albert Fall is in the next room. He has promised that he will tell you everything about the Teapot Do oil field scandal!”
Hoover spoke modestly, “Donnie, thank you for this occasion. Without you, the Bureau of Investigation would not have been able to obtain such crucial information!”
Donnie waved his hand, “It’s the least I could do. However, after you have questioned him, I need a duplicate of the report, and my na as well as Pandora Oil must not appear in that docunt!”
Hoover nodded, stating earnestly, “Of course!”
Then Donnie, without saying much more, had Steve Cotting lead the three of them to the room where Albert Fall was.
A few hours later, Hoover, along with Rhode Granger and Olden, returned to Donnie’s office, and from the smile on Hoover’s face, one could tell that this trip had been very rewarding.
Hoover certainly wouldn’t make these docunts public; instead, they were to be archived at the Bureau of Investigation. These materials might also possibly beco a ans for Hoover to manipulate a high-ranking official in the future.
“Donnie, your power is truly growing, but I’ve heard sothing that could be useful to you!”
At this mont, Hoover couldn’t help but marvel at Donnie’s rapid rise. In just a few years, Donnie had actually ford the New Jersey Consortium, becoming the ninth largest in the nation, a top-tier existence.
This made Hoover feel very fortunate about his own initial decision. Without Donnie’s support, he would not have been able to secure the position as director of the Bureau of Investigation.
Nor would he have the power he held now.

“Oh, what’s that?” Donnie asked with a smile.
Hoover replied, “The Bureau of Investigation’s people have discovered that, with President Harding beginning his nationwide speaking tours, his relationship with the Cleveland Syndicate has undergone so subtle changes. Moreover, the Bureau’s people have found that the Cleveland Syndicate attributes this change in their relationship to you. Although we have not yet detected any actions from the Cleveland side, if Harding’s relationship with them truly breaks down, I believe the Cleveland Syndicate will definitely take so action.”
Upon hearing this, Donnie frowned slightly, feeling sowhat resentful towards Harding. Despite Donnie’s previous advice to Harding to ease the relationship with the Cleveland Syndicate during this period, the situation had not been handled perfectly.
But Donnie also understood that he was currently fully invested in the planning against the Kuhn, Loeb & Co. consortium, and it was not suitable to have any conflict with the Cleveland Syndicate at this ti.
It seems it’s ti to write a letter to Harding soon!
Donnie thought to himself, then smilingly said to Hoover, “Thanks for the notification, I will pay attention to it!”
Hoover nodded, then further inquired, “Donnie, what do you think about the upcoming election?”
This was Hoover’s greatest concern at the mont. Whether from his own desires or from a rational standpoint, Hoover hoped for Harding’s reelection as President.
If Harding were reelected, there likely wouldn’t be major changes in the Cabinet mbers, hence Hoover’s position would remain secure.
But if Harding were unsuccessful in the election, replaced by the Democratic Party’s John Davis as the President of the United States, whether Hoover could continue to serve as the director of the Bureau of Investigation was uncertain!
Donnie was aware of Hoover’s concerns. At this ti, Hoover had not yet reached the peak of his power, and even the President dared not dismiss him as the director of the Bureau of Investigation.
“I am quite optimistic about the Republican Party!” Donnie first offered his assessnt. In the current strife between the two major Arican parties, the Republican Party still held the advantage, which was very important for the Presidential election.
“As you can see, public sentint towards Harding is beginning to shift following Harding’s announcent of his plans to deal with Albert Fall, and Harding’s recent speeches have been quite successful. Polls show a very high possibility for Harding’s reelection!”
