Capítulo 1642: Chapter 607: The Election Approaches (Part 2)

Without a doubt, many of the views from both sides are actually quite similar.

When Franklin Roosevelt took office, he received the support of the Supre Court.

But as Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal began to increasingly attack more businessn, conservative forces began to erge in the Supre Court and started to resist Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal.

Last year, the Supre Court overturned two departnts established by Franklin Roosevelt for the New Deal, the NRA and AAA.

At the sa ti, the Supre Court also voted in favor of the ‘Farm Mortgage Extension Act’ and several other asures that Franklin Roosevelt opposed.

Many policies of the Roosevelt New Deal ultimately fell before the Supre Court.

During this period, the Supre Court only supported two asures from the Roosevelt New Deal.

This caused Franklin Roosevelt to deeply detest the current Supre Court.

He had said to Donnie more than once that he wanted to strip the Supre Court of its power.

In fact, during that ti, Franklin Roosevelt’s approval rating was declining.

The declining approval rating constantly stimulated Franklin Roosevelt’s nerves.

But recently, an event occurred that made people wonder if Lady Luck was beginning to favor Franklin Roosevelt!

Though in a sarcastic way.

Because, just as seasoned Republicans were packing to head to Cleveland for the convention, the Supre Court did sothing bizarre.

Previously, it had already repealed the federal legislation on wages and working hours.

Now, it broke free from its constraints, acting alone, and vetoed New York State’s minimum wage laws for won, thereby overturning wage and working hours legislation in various states.

The result was astonishing: no one could legislate wages and working hours.

Even the Republican leaders couldn’t swallow this bitter fruit without showing bitter smiles.

As a result, Republicans announced in their platform that they would pass state laws to protect won and children in terms of maximum working hours, maximum wages, and working conditions, then weakly added: “We believe that under current circumstances, we can achieve this within the frawork of the Constitution.”

Governor Alf Landon felt it necessary to inform the convention that he would seek a constitutional andnt to make this possible.

Sohow, this matter weakened the Supre Court’s support for Republicans.

The nine black-robed gentlen inadvertently gave the struggling president a point.

Republicans thought Lady Luck had favored Franklin Roosevelt, but in reality, if it weren’t for Donnie’s diation, this matter couldn’t have succeeded.

After all, in Donnie’s view at this ti, Franklin Roosevelt continuing as president was in their best interest.

Of course, aside from Donnie, Franklin Roosevelt, and Ferdinand Pecora, no one knew Donnie had participated in this matter.

Aside from these, Franklin Roosevelt had so small strokes of luck.

William Hearst was one of the earliest talents to discover Alf Landon, but by 1936, Hearst’s support was certainly no asset anymore.

Initially, William Hearst was a newspaper magnate in the United States, and his papers engaged in dia battles with “The World Newspaper.”

But as his extre rhetoric increased, the public began to lose faith in this person.

Earlier this year, Franklin Roosevelt’s forr friend and ntor Alfred Smith threatened to “walk” and urged other Democrats to leave the ranks of New Deal supporters with him.

But he issued this threat at a dinner party of the Freedom League, a body so filled with millionaire industrialists that it beca a political liability for Republicans.

Even in Republican political activities, millionaires usually stayed behind the scenes, letting small business owners and “ordinary people” form a convincing front line.

Democratic strategists swiftly seized this rare opportunity, making their election campaign seem like they were only up against the Freedom League of millionaires, rather than the Republicans.

The Democratic convention in Philadelphia was rely a rubber stamp, dragged out for five days by the Roosevelt-controlled delegation, bringing joy to Philadelphia’s rchants and hotel owners, and filling the ears of radio listeners with exhilarating New Deal speeches.

When the convention adjourned, Franklin Roosevelt went to Franklin Field to accept the nomination for reelection and delivered a powerful speech.

In this speech, Franklin Roosevelt labeled the Republicans as ‘economic royalists.’

Criticizing them, when they complained about Democrats trying to overturn the U.S. system, they were actually lanting that we took away their power!

anwhile, nature was also supporting Franklin Roosevelt.

This sumr, a drought erupted in the Great Plains of the United States, and Franklin Roosevelt went to inspect it; as soon as Franklin Roosevelt arrived in the disaster area, it started to pour rain!

A series of actions caused Alf Landon, who should have held the advantage, to start trailing Franklin Roosevelt in support.

At this ti, Alf Landon thought of their Republican bigwig, Donnie Bruck.

Coming to Atlantic City this ti was actually to seek Donnie Bruck’s support.

“Mr. Block, ever since Roosevelt took office four years ago, the persecution against us Republicans has never ceased.

You are the most respected person in our Republican Party; if you could stand up, I believe it would be very beneficial for both us Republicans and the Arican people!”

Alf Landon sat opposite Donnie, with a sincere expression on his face.

Donnie waved his hand, with a faint smile on his face: “Mr. Landon, you’re overestimating ; I’m just an ordinary businessman, where do I have such high prestige?

What’s more, Venus Bank has been quite supportive of you; recently, your voice has been all over ABC radio!

We deliberately reduced the voice of President Roosevelt!”

Donnie certainly wouldn’t support Alf Landon; although both are Republicans, Alf Landon’s policies are actually closer to farrs.

Previously, Donnie’s farms faced multiple refusals from those farrs in acquisitions, and among them was Alf Landon’s shadow.

It’s not that Alf Landon deliberately opposed Donnie, but rather Alf Landon’s interests are aligned with those of these people.

Regardless of who it is, they will face Alf Landon’s refusal.

Additionally, Pandora Oil and Alf Landon’s oil company have so competition.

If Alf Landon ca to power, it would be more harmful than beneficial for Donnie.

However, since both are part of the Republican Party, and Donnie is a party bigwig, in the future when Caron Block enters the White House, he’ll also need Republican support.

So overtly, Donnie will still support Alf Landon!

Alf Landon pondered: “Mr. Block’s support for I certainly rember, but you can see the current situation, if Roosevelt is allowed to be reelected, it will be devastating for our Republican Party!”

Donnie thought for a mont and said: “Alright, I’ll personally donate five hundred thousand US dollars to your campaign fund.”

“Thank you, Mr. Block!” Alf Landon surely didn’t co just for the half a million.

So after thanking Donnie, he continued: “Next, I will start a nationwide tour speech, and I sincerely invite you, Mr. Block, to co along with !”
