Chapter 1455: Chapter 514: I’m Coming!
Donnie originally thought he would first receive a call or visit from the Rothschild family.
Instead, another matter brought news to Donnie first.
“Boss, this is a handwritten letter by yer Coffman, handed over to his forr student Cordell Hull at Benning Infantry School, who is now the commander of the 2nd Division’s MP Company in the U.S. Third Army!”
Levin Peters handed the letter he brought to Donnie.
Donnie didn’t look at the letter, he just smiled and said: “How did you find out about this person?”
Levin Peters explained: “Upon receiving your orders, boss, we imdiately conducted a detailed investigation into yer Coffman’s social relationships, and then filtered out the people he contacted most in the last five years. We quickly found Cordell Hull!”
Donnie nodded, acknowledging that although he knew the process wasn’t as smooth as it seed, the important thing was that they got the letter in hand.
Now, they had no further worries regarding yer Coffman!
“How did you get this letter from Cordell Hull?”
Levin Peters smiled and said: “It’s simple, yer Coffman clearly overestimated his relationship with Cordell Hull and also overestimated Cordell Hull’s loyalty to the U.S. Army. In fact, when Cordell Hull received the letter, he was already anxious.
He only kept the letter due to yer Coffman’s promise, thinking MacArthur would truly support him, which gave him the courage to hold on to it.
Upon eting us and learning the situation, Cordell Hull knew what choice to make!”
Donnie nodded and said: “Alright, hand the letter over to Marshall. He’ll know what to do!”
After speaking, Donnie handed the unread letter back to Levin Peters.
Levin Peters accepted the letter with both hands and said: “Understood!”
Donnie continued: “Let your team handle this matter, while you stay in Atlantic City. There are other tasks waiting for you!”
Although it was known that the DuPont and Rothschild families had joined forces, Donnie still needed to understand the specifics of their cooperation.
Entrusting these matters to Levin Peters was the most suitable choice!
.
yer Coffman had been in good spirits lately, although he still felt disgusted at each gathering with Marshall and the others, it didn’t matter, as long as MacArthur would take the position of Chief of Staff of the Army.
Once that happened, these people would completely lose their prospects for developnt in the U.S. Army.
He could help the U.S. Army resolve a small faction while laying the strongest foundation for his own developnt in the Army.
yer Coffman couldn’t think of anything better.
“Kaufman, don’t forget George’s invitation tonight!”
Ridgway found yer Coffman during training intervals, with a smile on his face.
yer Coffman felt a wave of disgust again, each eting of their organization was, in his view, a desecration of his soul. But he had no choice, as long as there were no new instructions from General MacArthur, he’d have to passively accept them.
“Is there still ti before our gathering? Why did George suddenly think of eting today?”
Ridgway shrugged and said indifferently: “Who knows, it’s likely Marshall ca up with so good battle simulations he wants to discuss with us!”
George Marshall knew very well that to go far in the Army, rely having their organization and Donnie’s financial support wasn’t enough.
These people also needed to have real ability!
That’s why at each of their gatherings, they’d simulate and discuss battles that had already taken place.
This was the only aspect of the organization’s etings that yer Coffman looked forward to.
He didn’t mind simulating various battles, personally recognizing George Marshall’s rit-based capability.
At certain tis, yer Coffman would even think that George Marshall might be better served as a purely dedicated military officer.
“I understand. I’ll arrive on ti tonight!”
Ridgway, having received the desired response, left with a smile.
.
In the evening, yer Coffman arrived at George Marshall’s ho as promised, as the others had not yet arrived, everyone sat and chatted casually.
This was yer Coffman’s least favorite part, as during this ti, these people discussed which units they wished to be transferred to after graduation to best develop their talents.
If it wasn’t because of Donnie’s support, achieving these positions purely on their own rit, yer Coffman would be happy for them, as it would display their abilities.
But with Donnie’s backing, even if they reached these positions and showcased their talents, when Donnie needed them, they’d prioritize their and Donnie’s interests over the Army’s and the nation’s.
“yer, I’ve heard many trainees complaining that your training is becoming ever more stringent!”
Upon seeing yer Coffman arrive, George Marshall teased with a smile.
yer Coffman laughed heartily and said: “These people will have to go to the battlefield afterwards, and they are not ordinary soldiers, but officers. If their foolish actions lead to their own deaths, I can accept that, but if their foolishness causes more soldiers to die, that’s unacceptable to !”
