Jimmy Chandler said teasingly, "I follow God’s guidance. I believe God will let us et again!"
After saying this, Jimmy Chandler didn’t leave any contact information and turned to leave.
Joan Harrison clutched her chest and returned to the car, the engine started, and they drove back to their estate.
In the car, Joan Harrison cald herself down and said to the driver, "Porter, I hope Mr. Block doesn’t find out about what just happened, do you understand?"
Driver Porter nodded without looking sideways, "Understood, Miss!"
Joan Harrison nodded with satisfaction.
After Joan Harrison left the tavern on her ride, in the foul-slling alley behind the tavern, Jimmy Chandler was giving money to a few punks who had just provoked them.
"Hey, I say you were too rough just now, 30 US Dollars is barely enough for our dical expenses!"
Jimmy Chandler generously took out 20 more US Dollars and handed it to them. Only then did they leave contentedly with their buddies.
The car soon returned to the estate where Joan Harrison and Caron Block lived. When Joan Harrison got back, she saw Caron Block sitting on the sofa making a phone call.
"Hmm, I understand, first check the situation of the other party!"
Sitting on the sofa, Caron Block smiled and waved at Joan Harrison with the other hand, and Joan Harrison returned the smile.
"Alright, let’s leave it at that for now!" Caron Block hung up the phone.
Joan Harrison didn’t know who Caron Block was calling. Actually, she wasn’t interested, because she had seen such calls many tis with her father and grandfather.
It was simply for their dull political careers.
"Where did you go?"
Caron Block asked Joan Harrison with a smile.
Joan Harrison sat on the sofa, crossed her legs, swinging them casually, then laughed, "I was a bit bored at ho, so I went to the tavern!"
Caron Block nodded, "It’s my fault. After returning from Atlantic City, I’ve been busy handling previous work and forgot to care for your feelings. Next ti, if you want to go, I can accompany you!"
"No need, I was just wandering, and I can’t delay your work, can I?" Joan Harrison laughed, speaking to Caron Block.
Caron Block’s eyes flashed with a hint of malice, unnoticed by Joan Harrison. Caron Block continued with a smile, "Although the security in Los Angeles is quite good, taverns are places where trouble occurs... By the way, did you encounter any problem in the tavern?"
Joan Harrison shook her head, "No, just a few people trying to make conversation, but after I told them I’m about to get engaged, they left!"
Caron Block nodded, "Good, if there’s any trouble, call right away!"
"Hmm!" Joan Harrison got up and smiled, "By the way, I’m going to take a bath!"
"Hmm, I still have so work to do."
Joan Harrison went upstairs, while Caron Block returned to his study.
.
Two days later, Joan Harrison took a car to the Lowe Bookstore in Los Angeles. She wanted to buy so books there. Just as she was fully engrossed in her selection, a familiar yet foreign voice ca to her ear.
The voice made her delighted!
"It seems God heard my call!"
Joan Harrison quickly turned her head, and saw Jimmy Chandler standing beside her, she didn’t know when he got there.
"What are you doing here?"
Joan Harrison asked with joy.
Jimmy Chandler slightly bowed his head, wearing a faint smile, but with a hint of regret in his tone, "I’m looking for a novel nad ’Rock,’ but unfortunately, I’ve searched many bookstores in Los Angeles and still haven’t found it!"
Joan Harrison beca more delighted, even a bit excited as she asked, "You know the novel ’Rock’?"
"Of course, it’s by the UK author Charlie Allen. Indeed, this author is sowhat obscure in the UK, and actually, not many people even in the UK know this novel!"
When he said this, Jimmy Chandler seed endlessly regretful.
Joan Harrison grew increasingly delighted; Jimmy Chandler truly knew Charlie Allen, one of her favorite UK novelists, though few knew this person or his works, which had greatly disappointed Joan Harrison.
"I have this novel!"
"Really?" Jimmy Chandler opened his arms, and said with excitent, "You truly are sent by God to rescue ."
"But the novel isn’t in Los Angeles now; it’s in Boris. I need to call ho to have them send it here!"
Joan Harrison looked worriedly at Jimmy Chandler.
"No worries, it ans I can see you more often!"
Joan Harrison felt secretly happy but still said, "I’m about to get engaged!"
Jimmy Chandler looked disappointed and pained, but soon forced a smile: "Knowing you is already God’s greatest blessing to , I shouldn’t ask for more, but if I must, I hope to treat you to a cup of coffee."
Joan Harrison nodded.
The two went to a cafe near the bookstore, sitting in the warm sun, and started discussing Charlie Allen, his novel ’Rock,’ as well as ’You Shouldn’t Disappear,’ ’Island’."
