...

"I’m back, anybody ho?"

Wang Hao opened the door to his room, set down his luggage, and rubbed his sore arms.

The living room was very clean; obviously, his cousin had co back for the weekend and tidied up.

A girl in pink slippers bounded down the stairs: "Here I am, did you miss ?"

Wang Hao almost cried with emotion upon seeing the vibrant and lovely human soul.

After spending a half month with a bunch of old n where even a sow would seem like Diaochan, Han Xiaoyue, already quite pretty, inexplicably triggered in him a mysterious appetite, secreting saliva, mouth watering.

This girl would surely taste even better than the fish from Heavenly Pool!

At the thought, Wang Hao got such a fright he promptly pulled himself together and cast aside his wild thoughts: "How’s school life, still getting used to it?"

"Oh, right, hurry and buy so tofu, green onions, ginger, garlic, and so vegetables. Let’s take advantage of the fresh ingredients and I’ll cook myself today!"

"Alright, going now." Humming a tune, Han Xiaoyue rode her electric scooter to the supermarket.

Wang Hao critically reflected on the evil thought he just had about wanting to eat a person.

"Could it be I’m becoming a pervert? Is it really humans I want to eat or do I want to do orthopedics? Neither are right, but if I had to choose... obviously, I’d choose neither."

His ntal state was still sowhat in disarray.

He cramd his full haul of victuals into the fridge.

Then he rembered tomorrow was October 1st, the grand birthday of our motherland, riting celebration.

From his luggage, Wang Hao solemnly extracted a three-pound Frozen fish, ticulously prepped it, and placed the fish head into a stew pot.

"Let’s start with a tofu fish head, save the rest for tomorrow."

He swallowed his saliva, took out the seasoning, and shook a half-spoonful of slightly yellowed coarse salt into the pot.

This salt, known as "Tibetan salt", was the only hand sun-dried salt currently available and was priced much higher than the usual table salt.

The taste was actually the sa; it was simply hand-crafted hype. Ordinarily, Wang Hao would never buy such a frilly item.

But these were seasonings given to him by friends; he couldn’t simply refuse them.

He also carefully took out so delicious fungi from a special little bottle; these were the real top-quality goods.

He added a bit of fresh bamboo shoots, turned on a low fla, and slowly started simring.

Soon, the fragrance of fish oil filled the kitchen.

"We’ll add the tofu once Xiaoyue’s bought it."

"Let’s have a chicken too!"

He rummaged through a box and pulled out a chicken, a "mountain chicken" raised by a farr, feathers already plucked.

Wang Hao planned to use the chicken for two dishes: stir-fried chicken slices and use the bones for soup later.

After separating the bones and at, he sliced it and seasoned it with the right amount of salt, soy sauce, cooking wine, chicken stock, and oil, marinating it for 20 minutes. With a hot pan, he fried ginger and garlic before pouring in the marinated chicken, stir-fried it quickly, and when the chicken turned all white, he added hot chili and bell peppers.

"Whoosh—", the pan caught fire.

Wang Hao was very confident in this technique, as only skilled chefs like him could master such fiery stir-frying. Otherwise, it was easy for dishes to end up slling of kitchen fus and wasting high-quality ingredients.

Just then, Han Xiaoyue ca in with the groceries and excitedly said, "Slls amazing!"

"Hmph, you’re in for a treat today; don’t rush, it’s not ready yet."

Next was the most important step. He poured the prepared cornstarch, soy sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar into the wok, giving the chicken slices a dazzling glaze.

"It looks like I’ve still got it, my cooking skills are ever more refined," Wang Hao proudly looked at the contents of the pot. "If I opened a food stall next to the café, business would definitely be better than an internet bar, right?"

"But you’re super lazy, you hardly ever cook."

"If I cook, the whole neighborhood can sll it and the old folks won’t stop salivating, all longing for a taste. It would be indecent; we must be low-key."

"Look at you, flattering yourself!"

"I’m just asking if you’ll eat, dig in, help yourself, do you want to or not?"

Wang Hao wasn’t just bragging.

Because the stray dogs and cats had already slled the aroma and were waiting in the yard!

Those little animals would be happy even with so fish bones or chicken bones.

...

While Han Xiaoyue chatted, she also chopped so green onion on the side.

She couldn’t figure out why, but she always felt... there was sothing slightly dangerous about her older cousin.

Of course, the rich aroma from the stew pot aroused her desire; these were top-tier ingredients her cousin had "hunted" in the wild, beyond comparison with the mundane offerings of a supermarket!

Those grains of "Tibetan salt" were like shimring gems!

And the fish from Heavenly Pool?

What Heavenly Pool? Clearly, it was from the deep layers of the Etheric Abyss!

She couldn’t recognize what kind of fish it was, but judging by its sharp teeth, it might be so kind of aggressive carnivore. Carnivorous fish usually have bigger bones and the at is more resilient...

It could even be so kind of unknown monstrosity...

Han Xiaoyue didn’t dare think further; after all, it’s good as long as it’s edible!

And what about that Monkey Wine, which tasted like fruit juice but packed a punch? Did Monkey Wine really exist in this world? She didn’t quite understand; wasn’t that sothing out of legends? Could you really drink it?

"Is there sothing special to celebrate today, or is it so terrible event that only self-help can redy?"

Once the braised mountain chicken was done, the at dishes were almost ready.

The fish soup was just right, steaming hot, and perfectly flavored.

He scooped a spoonful and savored a mouthful, and those wild thoughts of eating human flesh finally completely subsided...

"What’s so good about human flesh? It’s a crazy idea."

Wang Hao quickly stir-fried a few vegetables.

He was exhausted.

He took out three food boxes and cups, divided so of the dishes and fish soup into these three insulated containers.

"Take this food over to the clients at the internet café, let them have a taste of the boss’s cooking."

"Then co back for us to eat together!"

"Okay!"

Xiaoyue packed the food boxes into plastic bags and dashed out the door.
