Yarin's POV:

Aunt Carolyn?

Spil was looking at Aunt Carolyn? They didn't even know each other!

I thought I must have been mistaken. When I turned back, the spot where Spil had been standing was already empty.

"What are you looking at?" Cynthia tugged at my sleeve and said, "Aunt Carolyn is calling out to you."

Only then did I realize that everyone had walked away while I was lost in thought. Cynthia ran back to pull , and not far away, Carolyn was waving at .

"Nothing, just spaced out for a mont." I shook my head, forgetting these trivial matters, and quickly walked forward.

Carolyn brought many suitcases this ti, including gifts for the three of us.

Cynthia got a tablet-like electronic device, which Carolyn said was specially for reading literary works and had been popular in the human world for so ti. "I bought you a ten- year mbership, and by the ti it expires, it might be outdated," she said.

Cynthia was thrilled, and I could already foresee that her romance novel bookshelf, occupying the front wall of her room, would be temporarily neglected.

For Heller, Carolyn brought a delicate and understated black hairpin. Such cute accessories were usually given to girls, but Heller's hairpin was clearly in a masculine style, and it was said to have a calming effect. "Do you still have nightmares like you did when you were a child? I got this hairpin from a dwarf living in Jasper. It can soothe your spirit and dispel nightmares." Heller blushed as he accepted it.

Then it was my turn, and I eagerly looked at the bag from which gifts kept erging, my heart pounding with excitent.

"This is for you, Yarin." Carolyn handed a palm-sized box. "Perhaps it's a bit early to give you this now, but I think His Majesty should have started training you already, right? This is more suitable for you than those crude teaching tools used by adults. The mont I saw it, I knew it belonged to you."

Her words piqued my curiosity even more, and I couldn't wait to open the box covered with soft black velvet.

What I found inside left wide-eyed in astonishnt.

It was a small and deadly pistol.

A real and functional pistol.

I carefully took it out of the box; it wasn't big and fit perfectly in my hand. The brass-colored tal casing was engraved with a blooming lily flower, and the flower was now in the palm of my hand, giving a cold touch.

"I found it in an antique shop. The owner said it was a lady's pistol made in the last century. Its owner lived a safe and smooth life, never firing a gun, so her descendants treated it as an amulet for peace. But a weapon, if it lies in a silk-covered box for its entire life, loses its true purpose of existence.

"I'm giving it to you, Yarin, hoping you'll have a safe and smooth life and also hoping you'll fulfill your own desires and value."

Feeling the weight in my palm, I was montarily speechless, not knowing what to say. It was incredibly sincere, straightforward, and heartwarming well-wishing.

Finally, I firmly said, "Thank you, Aunt Carolyn. I will."

When guests co from afar, a banquet is indispensable. It was a family banquet with no one else invited. "There are plenty of social events," my mom said. She didn't really like being surrounded by pretentious social gatherings, but it was a responsibility she had to bear.

"Once the Southern Duke arrives tomorrow, invitations will fly in like snowflakes, so rest well today," she told Aunt Carolyn.

After a long journey, Carolyn was exhausted and rested after lunch.

The rest of us played with our newly acquired gifts. My dad especially reminded , "Lock the gun's safety, kid. If it accidentally goes off, you know your mom won't spare it just because it was a gift."

I mumbled, "There are no bullets..."

But I obediently checked if the bolt was securely locked.

Cynthia was completely absorbed in her literary ocean and paid no attention to us.

Heller was flipping through the latest fashion magazines, preparing to change his hairstyle to wear the hairpin without looking odd.

"You know that vintage gentleman's hairstyle is popular now, right?" I suggested. "It's about growing your hair long, curling the ends, and tying it into a very low ponytail."

Heller seed a bit hesitant. "That's certainly stylish, but growing long hair takes so ti..."

Just then, the black wolf quietly opened the door to the ga room and walked in.

"Hey, good afternoon, Spil." We greeted him one after another, and I said, "You should have joined the lunch; you would have loved the pepper roasted chicken!"

Spil stayed with us for a while - most of the ti, he closed his eyes, pretending to nap. When Cynthia and Heller left for various reasons, leaving only one person in the ga room, he asked , "That lady nad Carolyn, who... who is she?"

He sounded sowhat hesitant.
