After a few hours, Lucia woke up early since she couldn’t sleep well and felt discomfort for the whole night. That made her highly fatigued by the morning.

"Ugh, this sucks," Lucia whispered as she groaned while looking at the ceiling. She felt her body was thrown in the ocean and swept against the rocks.

Lucia sat up and forced herself to walk toward the mirror plastered on the wall. She could see dark circles under her eyes and how her skin sulked on her cheeks.

"Oh my god!" Lucia exclaid while touching her face. "Am I that dehydrated?"

Lucia looked around for a water supply but found none in her room. She sighed as she put on a cloak she saw in her closet and went outside.

The sun barely ca out, yet Lucia was tiptoeing toward the kitchen. However, a mory from the past kept hunting her.

That was the day when Lucia saw the dead human bodies being cut into pieces like animals.

"Ugh!" Lucia put a hand over her mouth as she had the urge to vomit. "I hate this."

Lucia closed her eyes and swallowed the upcoming vomit. She breathed deeply to compose herself and continued toward the kitchen, her steps tentative and her heart racing.

The corridor was eerily silent. The faint light of dawn seeped through the cracks in the shutters, casting long shadows on the stone walls.

"Tsk, he’s so rich, but the mansion looks like a haunted house," Lucia murmured as she referred to Daniel’s tacky taste.

When Lucia reached the kitchen, she found it empty. The fire in the hearth had long since died out, and the lingering scent of herbs and roasted at was now faint, almost nonexistent.

’Not even a servant is awake at this hour,’ Lucia thought as she looked around. She went to pour herself a glass of water while leaning against the counter.

There were lights lit on the corner, but it was still an eerie atmosphere.

’I should hurry back to the room,’ Lucia thought, but when she was about to leave, an idea appeared on her head.

Lucia glanced around and focused on her surroundings to ensure she was alone.

’Maybe I should use this ti to investigate,’ Lucia thought as she returned to the kitchen and decided to explore the area further.

"There should be a door here," Lucia muttered, rembering the events in the past. She didn’t want to light more lights, which might cause attention, so she used her hand to touch her surroundings.

That was when Lucia touched a knob. A small door at the back of the kitchen.

’This might be it?’ Lucia thought as she gripped it fearlessly. The door creaked as she pushed it open, revealing a narrow staircase that descended into darkness. A cold draft hit her face, carrying a faint tallic sll that made her stomach churn.

"What is this place?" Lucia whispered to herself as she descended the stairs, her hand gripping the railing tightly. The further she went, the stronger the sll beca.

At the bottom of the stairs, Lucia found herself in a dimly lit cellar. Barrels and crates were stacked against the walls, but what caught her attention was a faint trail of sothing dark and sticky on the floor.

Lucia’s breath hitched. Her mind flashed back to the horrifying mory of dismbered bodies. "Oh my god!" she whispered as she covered her nose.

She forced herself to follow the trail, which led to a large wooden crate in the corner. Lucia lifted the lid with trembling hands, only to find it empty. But the inside was stained—a dark, ominous stain that made her step back in alarm.

"No... no," Lucia muttered as she panicked, not ntally prepared for her discovery. She hurried upstairs and closed the door as she went for another glass of water.

Lucia breathed heavily as cold sweat ford on her forehead.

"What are you doing here?" a voice suddenly bood behind Lucia.

Lucia spun around, her heart leaping to her throat. It was Daniel, standing in his pajamas. His face was a mask of confusion with concern.

"I... I was looking for water," Lucia stamred, her voice barely above a whisper. She could feel her pulse pounding in her ears. She raised her glass to show Daniel.

"Oh, you should have lit more lights around here," Daniel said, lighting a candle nearby.

"It’s okay. I can see decently," Lucia chuckled awkwardly as she finished her glass. "What are you doing around this hour?" she asked.

Daniel’s body paused for a quick second before he gave Lucia a smile. "Ah, I just need to attend sothing. Business matters," he replied.

"Isn’t it a bit too early?" Lucia asked, frowning.

Daniel moved closer and grabbed Lucia’s arm, not too harshly but with enough force. "I’m a busy man," he replied, staring into her eyes. "You should not wander around for a while. There are so areas... that need repairs. I don’t want you to get hurt."

"Repairs?" Lucia asked cautiously. She didn’t see anything that was in an ongoing restoration.

"Yes, so go back to your room. I’ll et with you later at lunch," Daniel patted Lucia’s head and caressed her cheek for a second before he stepped back. "I need to go sowhere."

"Where?" Lucia asked. She wanted to use the opportunity to get sothing from Daniel.

"Business matters," Daniel kept his answer simple. He gave Lucia a flying kiss before he left the kitchen.

By then, Lucia released a heavy breath that she kept. "That was close," she murmured, steadying herself by the counter.

Lucia thought that if she didn’t return back to the kitchen, Daniel would have caught her in the act.

As she made her way back to her room, Lucia couldn’t shake the feeling that she had stumbled upon sothing far bigger than she could have ever imagined.

"I need to get down there again," Lucia stated with determination and ensured herself to get prepared for the worst.
