(According to Miyazaki Hidetaka, when he was working on Dark Souls, he did the content first before the plot, so its very likely that he didnt have a clear and complete ga script himself )
It was just like how many mystery movies had an open ending at the end. Everyone had different views on the ending, and the designer would not tell you which one was absolutely correct.
