"Did that shaless woman co back?" Geneva asked,

"Yes, ma’am,"

Geneva looked around and sighed, mumbling under her breath, "It’s a pity that such a useless person gave birth to those beautiful children. I still don’t understand how soone with a black heart like that stupid Clara woman could birth those two adorable siblings..... hmmm... sotis, the apple does fall very far from the tree.... And I am so glad that it did!"

"Would you like to replay the security feed?"

Geneva waved her hands, signalling that she did not want to. It was a serious waste of her ti.

"Continue with the arrangents in place and don’t bother with the likes of her."

The maid bowed and retreated to the side of the inner quarters of the older couple. This had been their confines for the past months after the incident. On this day, the room was bathed in the soft glow of the daylight, casting warmth over the plush cushions that Alex and Geneva occupied.

A faint scent of flower and maybe wine lingered in the air, mingling with the subtle crackle of the fire in the corner. It was a haven of comfort, a space carefully cultivated to bring peace, which had given them just that, since Aliya’s infestation.

"Are they here yet?" Alex asked,

"Yes, sir," The maid quickly moved to open the door, letting in the three children. The light and cheerful conversations that once filled the air were absent. It wasn’t just the group; especially Gabriel’s voice was notably missing.

Beneath the surface of this calm, an invisible thread of unease wove itself through the air and their hearts. It was in the way hands lingered on teacups just a mont too long, the way eyes flickered toward the door when a distant sound echoed down the hall.

No one spoke of it; perhaps that was why it felt all the more present. A silent question hung between the older generation, unvoiced but deeply felt: How long could this peace last?

"Co here..." Alex beckoned to Gabriel, hoisting him onto his lap. This was Alex and Geneva’s favorite ti... when the children ca to visit them in the absence of Aliya. Even this was done under wraps, so most of the workers did not know of this.

As they continued to talk, the maid walked out of the door and closed it behind her.

Just after that, Currey appeared in the room.

At this ti, they were all very used to him and there was no flinching.

"Exactly how long is this supposed to go on? When can I see my son? What of Shelby? Is there really no news about her?" Geneva bit her lip the mont the words slipped out, regret washing over her like a cold wave. The room, that had been filled with soft murmurs from Alex’s interaction with the kids, fell into an eerie silence.

They did not need to say anything for Geneva to know their thoughts.

Geneva swallowed hard, cursing her own thoughtlessness. The ache in their faces was too much to bear. Had she just added to their suffering? Had she rekindled the very fear they were all trying to suppress?

"I ..." she started, but there was no way to take it back. The damage had been done.

Wide, hopeful eyes turned to Currey, searching for answers he did not seem to have. The thing was that Currey did not want to give false hope, but he had finally gotten so info from his brother, the second ti he had been able to make contact.

Ingrid, the usually reserved one, gripped the hem of Samantha’s sleeve, knuckles turning white. Samantha bit her lip and patted Ingrid’s arm, then guided her to the nearest seat. They had all noticed that Ingrid was only this expressive with matters relating to Shelby.

Geneva sighed and signalled Currey to go on, but after only a mont, they all realized that there was no update.

"So, do you expect us to stay cooped up and let that twerp gallivant in our ho like this?"

Currey sighed as well. He had never thought it would last this long as well. However, he was only looking at this from the positive side. He was happy that no harm had befallen any of them in this ti. Currey failed to ntion that the ti in the human world ran differently from that of the Fae-land, where Murray had told them that they were.

Given the amount of ti that had passed, Currey estimated that only a few days would have passed for Murray and the mistress.

He was so happy to know that the mistress was alive, but should he tell them?

He had only received the info not long ago, but then it remained to see how they were to use that piece of info.

"Never mind, I know that you have your own ways, but bear in mind that my patience is limited. I do not want to sacrifice the whole household!"

"I understand..."

"If you understand, then why are you letting that creep harm the woman of the household as well?"

Currey sighed again. He knew what was going on and he had been shocked that Aliya had taken to the opposite sex as well. That went against everything that the specie did. He had a hunch of what could be going on, but Currey could not be hasty.

"I’ll visit that maid and do what I can do, but for no-"

"Mum, Dad! The cat is out of the bag!" Brad rushed in, with no care of what they had been talking about. In the few months since Ian and Shelby’s incident, Brad had indeed beco a different version of himself.... A more responsible version. He had stepped up and handled the company so efficiently that they had averted major crises.

"What do you an?" Alex asked, while he rubbed slow circles on Gabriel’s back to soothe him.

"Soone found out about that Ian’s issue, and I think Sally and Molly want to make a fuss about it!"

He did not have to elaborate it for them to understand.

"Soone’s also been making trouble in the back. I think they wanted to do a takeover now that Ian is indisposed, but they are hesitating for so reason. I don’t think that the phase will last long before they launch a full attack. I know that they are after the company."

"You can handle them, can’t you?"

Brad’s mouth dropped open, "Bu-"

"It’s settled then. Let us know if you need more help. However, that issue must not hit the dia under any circumstances!"

"I think that so of the smaller stations have started picking up the story....."

"So, what are you waiting for? Go deal with it."

Brad stord out of the room, making phone calls as he did.

"I thought you said that Katie couldn’t say anything!"

"She shouldn’t have... unless, she had so help!"

"You an that this Aliya person could have done this? What kind of witchcraft is this?" Geneva fud.

"Errrr..."

"What is it, Samantha?"

"Aliya went to see uncle Rocky and Aunt Ava."

"Say what?"

"What?"

"Why are you now saying this?"

Currey bowed to the older couple and then disappeared from the room.

The room beca too stagnant for anyone to breathe as they digested this information.

"I hope that she does not touch my grandchild..." Geneva muttered, but there was no one to answer the question.

After Aliya left Ava’s room, she was disconcerted, but not too much.

’I need to feed!’ She thought. She just did not have the ti to deal with those in the room.

’That Rocky boy, slled so good! I’ll co back and finish him as well as that fetus off!’

Aliya noticed that she was not satisfied when she was fed on the essence of individuals. She had thought that it was because she was feeding off females that she did not like, but deep down, Aliya knew that sothing else was up.

’Maybe, I need to go back into the ocean for a while?’ She contemplated,

"No, it should be sothing else...." She sighed, knowing that Ian was there to satisfy her hunger. She quickened her footsteps.

However , her steps faltered at the doorway, the eager hunger in her stomach twisting into sothing else ... sothing cold and unsettling. The bed was empty. The machines that had once surrounded him, beeping steadily in a rhythmic reassurance of life, now stood silent.

Aliya’s breath hitched. For a mont, she thought she was imagining things. Maybe she had walked into the wrong room. Maybe the exhaustion was playing tricks on her. But no .... the na on the chart, the familiar scent of antiseptic mixed with the faint trace of his cologne... This was his room.

This was Ian’s room!

Her heart pounded violently against her ribs. She took a step forward, her heels clicking sharply against the floor. No. No, this wasn’t right. She had been here just yesterday, sitting beside him, watching over him like a devoted wife should. He had been there. Unmoving. Helpless. Just as he should have been.

And now ... nothing.

The blanket was thrown aside, the IV stand tipped slightly, as if soone had yanked it free in a hurry. A terrible thought clawed at the edges of her mind; one she didn’t want to acknowledge.

Where the hell was he?

Her fingers clenched at her sides. The shock quickly gave way to sothing else ... rage. How dare he? How dare he leave without her knowing? How dare he disrupt the perfect order she had so carefully maintained?

With a trembling breath, she spun on her heels, storming out of the room. Soone would give her answers. And if not... well, she had ways of getting them.

Unfortunately, the first nurse she t was the unfortunate one. Aliya slapped the unsuspecting nurse so hard that the poor thing fell flat on her side,

"I asked you a question! WHERE THE HELL IS HE?"
