“Kuro, your body still hasn’t recovered from the damage caused by those drugs. In fact, without specialized treatnt, it’s almost impossible for you to recover on your own.”

Aka spoke seriously to Kuro. “I’ve heard that there’s a secret spring within the Empire’s territory that can help restore your body. Co with .”

“Alright, I’ll listen to you, but I want Blayn to co with us too.”

Kuro sat beside Aka, the two sisters leaning against each other. Ever since their relationship had improved, they had been inseparable.

“Blayn? I’ll ask him later.”

Aka had no reason to refuse Kuro’s request.

“I’ve noticed that whenever Blayn overuses his abilities, his body becos extrely weak, and even his eyes start bleeding. If this keeps happening, I’m worried his body might suffer serious problems.”

Kuro voiced her concerns. She had first noticed this back when she and Blayn fought the Super-Class Danger Beast “Death Tagool” in the Seiga Cave. After witnessing the toll it took on him, she couldn’t help but worry—especially since she wasn’t aware that Blayn’s body could recover on its own.

“I see. Let’s go find him and ask him to co with us.”

Aka nodded, understanding how Kuro felt.

“Mm, thank you, sister.”

Kuro smiled.

Before long, Aka and Kuro found Blayn in the royal palace, playing chess with the young Emperor.

Just as they arrived, the ga had reached its conclusion.

“I lost again… That’s ten defeats in a row…”

The young Emperor looked utterly dejected, nearly collapsing onto the chessboard in frustration.

Against Blayn, even if the “Great Han Chess Sage” Liu Qi himself were here, it wouldn’t have made a difference.

“Don’t be discouraged. You’ve improved a lot, Makoto.”

Blayn patted the young Emperor’s head reassuringly.

He was the only one who dared to call the Emperor by na and casually pat his head. Even Esdeath, despite her authority, usually addressed him with a respectful “Your Majesty” in public, as she was mindful of formalities.

“Ugh… I want another match!”

The young Emperor quickly regained his fighting spirit.

“Blayn, Your Majesty, Kuro and I are sorry to interrupt.”

Aka entered and spoke directly.

“Aka, Kuro, do you need sothing from ?”

Despite being interrupted, the young Emperor showed no sign of annoyance. He was naturally kind and simple-minded—besides, Aka and Kuro were Blayn’s companions, and Blayn had helped him eliminate Minister Honest.

“No, Your Majesty, we’re here to find Blayn.”

Aka explained.

“Oh, I see. Then go ahead and talk.”

The young Emperor nodded. “Blayn, make sure to play chess with again soti!”

“No problem.”

Blayn nodded, then followed Aka and Kuro out of the palace.

As they walked through the palace grounds, Aka explained their purpose.

“I was planning to take Kuro to the secret spring I ntioned before to help her recover, but she wants you to co with us too.”

Aka’s tone was as neutral as ever.

“...? Why would I need to go?”

Blayn was confused—he had no reason to visit the spring.

“Blayn, your eyes must be a huge burden on your body, right? I’m worried sothing might happen to you, so I want you to co with us to recover.”

Kuro stared into Blayn’s eyes.

“I appreciate your concern, but my body is perfectly fine. I don’t need any kind of recovery treatnt.”

Blayn smiled. Kuro’s worry touched him, but he genuinely had no issues.

“I don’t believe you! If you don’t co with us, then I’m not going either!”

Kuro suddenly turned stubborn.

“Kuro, don’t be so unreasonable…”

Aka tried to persuade her, feeling anxious when she saw her sister refuse to go.

“…Fine. I’ll go with you. Happy now?”

Blayn sighed in defeat—he had no way to argue with Kuro when she got like this.

“Good, then let’s go.”

Hearing Blayn agree, Kuro instantly dropped her stubborn act and returned to her usual blank expression.

With that, Blayn, Aka, and Kuro boarded a flying Special-Class Danger Beast and set off for the secret spring…
