“Fuck you! Old Thief, I—!!!”

Jack’s blood-curdling scream of terror echoed instantly throughout the factory!

Old Thief’s conspiracy!

And double-cross was a classic Gu-style chain trick!

God only knows how twisted Sam’s mind was!

First, he laid out a huge safe-looking area in the vast factory to create a creepy, eerie atmosphere for players!

Then, in the least conspicuous, dim corner, he placed a monster lying flat on the ground!

Yes! A monster that avoided normal sightlines, lying flat on the floor!

One careless step and you’d step right on it!

But that wasn’t all!

Behind that prone monster he’d placed even more creatures hidden in silent darkness!

Those things normally looked like stone sculptures in the dark, black, perfectly concealed!

And once you triggered one of them, the others would “wake up” too!

And!

The trigger condition for these monsters was so unexpected, it was practically unheard-of—

Sound!

They seed especially sensitive to footsteps and gunfire. The slightest noise up close would make these things flash and awaken!

No wonder the trailer had that line, “Don’t let them hear you!”

No wonder in this ga, low-recoil, low-noise weapons were the main weapons!

At that mont, Jack finally understood the subtle hint in the ga design—

In this mining facility that extends dozens of ters deep, every move must be made with extre care.

Monsters hidden in the dark are particularly sensitive to abnormal noises nearby.

Once you startle them, you’ll be in a very dangerous situation!

Jack got it.

But it was too late.

Bang—!!!

The enormous blast of gunfire instantly alerted all the monsters!

In an instant, every Sleeper lurking in the dark of the factory erupted!

Split-Mouthed Sleepers crawled and ran at astonishing speed, mouths wide open, lashing out with long tongues tipped with sharp barbs!

Those spiky-headed Sleepers repeatedly fired tracking missiles from their tumor-riddled heads, launching ranged attacks!

“Fxxxxxxxk! Fuck you, Jack!!!”

Pew watched his Health Bar instantly vanish!

All of this happened in the blink of an eye!

From the monster surge to his return fire was only a few seconds; he’d taken at most three or four hits!

And his Health Bar had dropped from 100% straight down to 16%?!

What the hell kind of damage was that?!

“Who the hell told you to fire? Didn’t the trailer warn you?!”

Pew aid the shotgun and pulled the trigger repeatedly, retreating in a panic.

“How the hell was I supposed to know this thing had such sharp hearing!”

Jack also fired frantically, the rifle clattering dak-dak-dak after dak-dak, muzzle flashes everywhere:

“Who designs a ga like this?! Who could’ve thought this?! Shit—save —!!!”

Screams, footsteps, monsters’ howls and intense gunfire overlapped.

For a while, the whole factory was a complete ss.

Viewers in the livestream chat also cried out—

“Holy shit this is terrifying..”

“Damn, that just scared the hell out of ”

“Hahaha what an insane design where noise wakes things up...”

“Too ssed up! Of course it’s you, Old Thief!”

“The worst part is most of those monsters are hiding in the dark, you wouldn’t notice unless you look carefully!”

“That prone monster is evil as hell, you’d probably have a heart attack if you accidentally ran into it.”

“Thrilling!”

“And it’s GW — multiplayer can be terrifying too.”

Indeed, unlike Endless Dark Tide, which boasted horror but wasn’t that scary in practice,

GTFO’s monster design really ssed with your sanity. Those face-up, joint-twisted crawling things are terrifying.

“Dark-crawling.gif”

Compared to other gas, GW’s ga hits a whole different level of the underworld.

Just watching it makes my heart race…

And the difficulty is high too. Two hits and you’re crippled. Surrounded and you’re done for, just drop and sleep…

Young people recover fast, just lie down and you’re out (doge)

“Shit!”

4 minutes 28 seconds!

Jack and Pew wiped instantly!

First round over!

Shocking!!!

Back in the loadout screen, both gasping for breath, they were a ss!

Everything happened so fast.

This might be the fastest cooperative multiplayer failure in their gaming history!

Not even five minutes had passed and they hadn’t even gotten through the first door!

“No way… this is actually pretty hard…”

After half a minute of catching his breath, Jack finally exhaled and cald a little:

“Hold on, I need to change my loadout. This loadout sucks.”

You learn from pain!

After that intense encounter, Jack learned what made this ga different.

In GTFO, firepower is not important; from so perspectives it’s even a liability.

So—

“Think we should rely on this…”

Ayin weighed the Hamr in his hands.

Shark livestream!

Ayin, Tree-ge, Liu Liu, Zhuang Zhuang — the classic “ghost-hunting four” reunited, entering the world of GTFO.

As expected, they encountered the sa fate as Pew.

They wiped even faster than Pew and Jack, taking less than four minutes to get wiped and sent back.

Gradually everyone realized that although GTFO looks similar to Endless Dark Tide in form, its core is completely different.

This is not a ga where the more people the easier it gets.

On the contrary, in GTFO having more people often ans more unexpected events and a more chaotic battlefield.

Fortunately, Ayin and the others were veteran gars.

Although so of GTFO’s design elents were novel and startling,

with a little exploration the four found so approaches.

First, for support equipnt the team must divide roles clearly.

A bio-tracker is essential; it helps the team preview monster distribution ahead, preventing walking face-first into a swarm unbeknownst to them.

A foam-solidifier gun is also a must; it can glue monsters in place and reinforce tal doors.

The remaining two people can bring damage-dealing but tactical weapons, like a machine-gun turret and a tripwire mine launcher.

Second, when facing monsters, don’t panic. Don’t rush in blindly, don’t bolt, and don’t constantly shine your headlamp on them.

After all, their last wipe had happened because Tree-ge was startled by a Sleeper right in his face and accidentally lit it up.

That’s right.

Besides being highly sensitive to sound, abnormal light exposure also wakes these creatures.

Lastly, don’t fire unless absolutely necessary.

Since Old Thief provided a variety of cold weapons, that ans those cold weapons each have their use and are likely the team’s main ans of killing monsters — no exceptions!

So!

After reorganizing their gear, the four returned to the underground factory.

“If we’re right, we need to creep up beside those things and kill them with lee, keeping noise to a minimum,” Ayin analyzed.

“Although lee also makes so noise in theory, this is still a ga; Old Thief has to give players so way out…”

“Mm—”

Hearing that, Tree-ge looked at the wolf-tooth club in his hands and wholeheartedly agreed with his leader:

“Makes sense. Let’s try it.”

They didn’t know if it would work, but it was worth a shot.

Besides, they couldn’t shoot willy-nilly, because even the smallest-caliber handgun sounded deafening in the enclosed factory.

As their discussion progressed—

Rumble!

The elevator reached the designated position — A1 level, “slightly” dangerous.

But no sooner had it stopped!

Ayin had just jumped off and was about to confidently head toward the first door when—

Suddenly!

From behind, Tree-ge uttered a suppressed cry:

“Don’t move! Don’t move, boss! Whatever you do, don’t…”

Imdiately!

From around the corner ahead, Ayin clearly heard a series of agitated heartbeat-like thumps—

Thump—thump—thump—!

Shit!

In an instant Ayin felt sweat on his palms!

This is ssed up.

Are the monsters in this ga...random?!

This was totally different from Endless Dark Tide!

Monsters in Endless Dark Tide spawn at fixed points.

Players can morize patterns and prepare in advance.

But in GTFO, monster layouts are randomly spawned each run!

That ans they couldn’t know monster positions by morizing the map.

Every mining run was a harsh test of adaptability and team coordination!

“Don’t move…don’t move…”

Holding the bio-tracker, Tree-ge exhaled cautiously:

“Good thing I brought this tracker, or we’d be screwed.”

“How’s my scouting? Holding up the building, saving the team from disaster,”

“Hey, moved by that, boss?”

After a short silence, Ayin whispered nervously into the comms:

“Can’t move, cinema — if anyone moves, I sure as hell won’t...”
