“Using their own thod against them, I like this ending.”

anwhile, across the ocean.

On the 32nd floor of the IDC office building in the United States, the Chief Departnt Supervisor’s office of the Public Utilities Division.

Chief Supervisor Jimmy Lawrence was slacking off, watching Pew’s live stream.

Having just survived a life-or-death escape, Pew had now evaded the doctor's pursuit!

Not only did he escape, but he also counterattacked and killed the doctor!

Just monts ago, Pew grabbed the key in the duty room and dashed off wildly.

He managed to get into the elevator before the doctor caught up to him.

Originally, it was thought that this thrilling and tense chase was over.

However, unexpectedly, seeing he couldn’t catch Pew, the doctor took a hidden passage and went directly to the next floor of the elevator to wait for him!

As the elevator passed the second floor, the doctor tore open the old elevator’s safety gate and charged in, intending to kill Pew.

During their fight, the doctor was so engrossed he ignored the descending elevator. While swinging the scissors, half of his body was pushed out of the elevator.

Then!

Creak!

The descending elevator directly crushed the doctor in half at the waist, like a giant pair of scissors cutting him in two.

Cause and effect, retribution is swift.

The doctor had cut off Miles’ finger with scissors, and now Miles used the elevator to sever the doctor’s body.

This karmic retribution made Jimmy nod repeatedly.

He had to admit.

Although this was a horror ga thed on thrills,

Golden Wind still pursued perfection in storytelling.

Whether it was the fragnted notes and reports scattered like puzzle pieces,

Or the looping, suggestive, and coincidental transitional settings,

From Titanfall to PT, from To the Moon to Escape,

Golden Wind always strove to tell great stories in their own way.

Among them,

Whether it was ‘Trial by Fire’ in Titanfall, ‘Wall Hole Murder’ in PT, ‘We’ll Always et on the Moon’ in To the Moon, or the current ‘Cause and Effect’ in Escape,

Almost every plot was cinematic.

In Jimmy’s view, if Golden Wind’s gas were adapted into films, producers wouldn’t even need to change the scripts.

Because the storyboard, dialogue, plot structure, and narrative techniques

Already had the quality of a big-screen movie.

Just then!

Knock knock knock—

Suddenly, soone knocked on the office door.

“Co in.”

Jimmy replied without closing the live stream, casually leaning back in his boss chair and looking toward the door.

An assistant with bright orange-red hair appeared at the door:

“Supervisor Lawrence, Mr. Brown is here to see you.”

“Oh, good. Please send him in.” Jimmy waved, signaling the assistant to bring Brown inside.

A mont later, a man with shoulder-length curly hair wearing a graphic tee, leather jacket, and work pants strolled in, chewing gum.

Will Brown.

Head of the Joint Developnt Division at United Business dia (UBM) in the US, about thirty-six or thirty-seven years old, roughly Jimmy’s age.

“Coffee, please,”

He flirted with the assistant as he strolled into Jimmy’s office, hands in his pockets, tilting his head to look at Jimmy’s screen:

“Hey! Jimmy! Slacking off at work watching Twitch again! Gotcha!”

“This is my work,”

Jimmy remained calm, without panic or embarrassnt. Instead, he found a comfortable position and placed both hands behind his head:

“You’re the one slacking off, coming here to drink coffee during work hours. Is your company going bankrupt?”

“Ha ha, funny you should say that,”

Will laughed and sat beside Jimmy:

“I’m here to work too.”

“Then talk about work!”

Stretching lazily, Jimmy took the coffee handed by the assistant, thanked her, and said:

“So? Has your direct invitation list co out yet?”

“Almost done. Sa old stuff,”

Will nodded:

“How about you? Have you picked the venue?”

“Do I still need to choose?”

Jimmy shrugged:

“Sa as always. Online press conference, offline networking at Loshanji Conference Center.”

“So no changes?”

Will sipped coffee:

“Sa location, sa format, sa invited guests. Routine and predictable.”

However, before he finished speaking,

Jimmy said, “Not necessarily.”

“Not necessarily?”

Hearing this, Will looked at Jimmy:

“What’s your idea?”

“Not mine,”

Jimmy shook his head and asked:

“Who’s on the direct invitation list from Huaguo this ti?”

“Just... the usual, you know,”

Will shrugged:

“Guangyao, Zhenting, Nuyan, and one vacancy we’re still figuring out.”

“Stop figuring,”

Jimmy waved his hand:

“Maybe we can just give it to GW, Golden Wind.”

“GW? You an Golden Wind? They were our previous discussion candidate,”

Hearing that na, Will clicked his tongue awkwardly:

“But their size… not even $200 million…”

“Oh, oh, oh, Brown, my brother,”

Hearing this, Jimmy frowned slightly and looked at Will Brown:

“That doesn’t sound like sothing you’d say. Since when did you care about a company’s size? Isn’t the revolution Golden Wind brought to the gaming world enough to support them joining this conference?”

“Uh… that’s not my opinion,”

Will quickly waved his hand to avoid taking the bla:

“If I were choosing the list, I’d pass half the companies invited,”

“But… you know, UBM’s rules are like this.”

“Then break the rules!”

Jimmy waved his hand, signaling Will not to be so constrained by formalities:

“Just like Golden Wind always seeks breakthroughs, we shouldn’t always stick to inviting just the big companies,”

“After all—”

“Our conference is called the Ga Developers Conference,”

“Not the World Big Ga Company Exchange!”

Exactly!!!

The “conference” Jimmy Lawrence and Will Brown were discussing was the annual Ga Developers Conference, GDC for short.

It was the largest and most influential professional gaming exchange conference worldwide.

A crucial event for various ga developers to communicate, learn, inspire, and network.

It gathered programrs, artists, sound engineers, planners, and other professionals to exchange ideas and define the industry’s future.

The organizers of this global developer event were IDC, where Jimmy worked, and UBM, where Will worked.

Now!

More than a month remained until the conference.

It was ti to notify the invited companies and release the attendee list.

“You said it yourself, Will, there’s one vacancy for Huaguo,”

Jimmy said:

“If there were no vacancy, I wouldn’t suggest swapping the list,”

“But now, since we have this vacancy, why not give Golden Wind a chance?”

“Rember, whether it was PUBG, Titanfall, or later SilentHell.P.T,”

“It was because platforms and soone willing to give them a stage that these gas brought surprise after surprise to the industry,”

“Now that GDC is becoming more routine, ideas and topics are becoming rigid. This is when fresh blood is needed,”

“For example—”

“The Future Developnt and Shaping of Cinematic Gas”

“Sounds pretty good, right?”

Hiss—!!!

Hearing this,

Will’s eyes brightened!

“This is… the speech topic Golden Wind reported to you?”

“It’s just my own random idea,”

Jimmy laughed:

“I don’t even know anyone from Golden Wind, and they don’t know . How could they randomly report speech topics to ? I just… saw this.”

While speaking,

Jimmy pointed at his computer screen.

“See? I’m not lying,” Jimmy smiled. “I’m actually working.”

“Hmm—”

Hearing this,

Will also looked at the screen, pondering Jimmy’s topic.

Thanks to Jimmy’s reminder, Will suddenly recalled Golden Wind’s collaboration with Legend Studios in TTF.

No one was more suitable to give this speech topic than Golden Wind.

Moreover!

With the era of motion-sensing pods arriving, film and gas as cultural entertainnt forms seed to be entering a period of blurred boundaries.

Thinking this,

Will also focused on the screen and started ‘working’ with Jimmy.

……

Thunder roared, lightning flashed, and a violent storm raged.

Pew stood outside the inpatient building of Mountain ntal Hospital, wind whipping his disheveled hair.

Earlier, when the doctor asked if he wanted to go outside for a walk, Pew thought he might regain his freedom and nodded repeatedly.

But now, truly standing in the howling wind, he realized he was better off inside the hospital.

“Fuck… this is…”

“Too dark!!!”

Nothing could be seen!

Chilling wind blew, rain roared fiercely!

This was the hospital’s backyard.

Following the priest’s instructions, Pew needed to cross the backyard to reach the church and find him.

The priest seed to have prepared so mysterious ritual, needing Pew as a ‘witness,’ promising that if he went, he could find a way out of the hospital.

Mumbo jumbo.

But now, Pew seed to have no choice.

He took a deep breath and stepped out of the hospital entrance.

In the heavy rain, the DV cara’s view beca increasingly short and blurry.

Only when lightning flashed could he barely see the road ahead.

Passing through the overgrown shrubbery, Pew first found the door to the church.

Sure enough, the door was locked with a chain, and he needed to find a key.

The key was on the other side of the backyard, inside the tool shed.

Cursing Sam, the torture king, Pew stiffly turned and trudged toward the small garden.

Rumble—crack—

Rain poured down and lightning struck repeatedly.

Holding the DV cara, Pew used the lightning’s brightness to observe the garden at the end of the path.

Not a single person.

Step… step… step…

Wet footsteps sounded ominously on the path.

Just as he was about to enter the garden,

Suddenly—

Flash—rumble—crack!!!

Lightning tore through the night sky again!

And in that instant!

Suddenly!

A pitch-black figure appeared on Pew’s DV cara!

Like a hanging god or a silent fierce ghost, it now hovered in midair at the garden’s edge!

Like a skull wrapped in black mist.

The black figure had no legs, floating like a shadow in midair. Its eye sockets flickered with glowing green light staring at him.

“Walrider… Walrider!!!”

Pew felt his scalp tingle, hair standing on end!

Seeing the shadow attack, he turned and ran!

Running while shouting in disbelief:

“Isn’t this a ntal hospital?”

“What the hell is this floating ghost?”

“This isn’t scientific at all! And if it weren’t for the night-vision DV cara, I wouldn’t have seen it… wait!!!”

As Pew temporarily escaped the shadow’s pursuit and used the key to open the church door,

His mind suddenly lit up!

Science… shadow… invisible to the naked eye…

Hiss—!!!

In an instant,

All previously gathered fragnted information pieced together.

Pew felt a chill down his spine!

“That’s… Walrider!!!”

No wonder the Murkoff Corporation spent huge sums researching this project!

After witnessing the Walrider lineup, the motives gradually beca clear!

“Fuck! Fuck!!!”

Pew could hardly believe his reasonable guess!

Nor could he believe the ga’s bold concept!

“Damn it! Murkoff Corporation is actually making ghosts!!!”

Suddenly!

Pressure maxed out!

From this mont on!

Walrider was like a shadow ghost, following him everywhere!

And it was completely different from all the monsters encountered before!

In normal state, it was totally invisible!

The difficulty and terror increased even further!

To make matters worse, on the way to the church’s topmost part, to evade pursuit, Miles accidentally dropped his DV cara due to the story’s setup!

Players helplessly watched their ‘daddy’ roll from the third floor to the second, then slip through the floor gap to the first floor.

So!

Players had to brave huge pressure, enter the first floor in darkness, dodge Walrider’s attacks, and carefully retrieve their precious DV caras!

Along the way!

Players cursed loudly!

Gu Sheng probably had never been cursed by so many people at once in his life!

In various live streams, colorful language and cyber-tan dialects flew wildly!

Players almost used every insult imaginable on Gu Sheng!

But fortunately!

After a thrilling journey!

Players finally arrived at the church’s topmost chapel.

There!

The morally ambiguous Father Martin had already hung himself on the cross…
