The senior Mr. Quan faced Jinbei’s aggressive gaze with a hint of guilt.

Then, he cald himself down again.

"What do I have to explain?"

The old man’s attitude beca more and more composed, "Do you, as a son, really expect , your father, to apologize to you?"

"I don’t expect an apology, but... if you have important announcents, shouldn’t you at least inform ?"

Jinbei spoke impassively, his face betraying little emotion.

Yet, precisely because of this, he seed even more inscrutable.

The senior Mr. Quan caught his breath and watched him warily, "What do you an?"

"Do I need to make myself any clearer?"

Jinbei tugged at the corner of his lips, his gaze filled with sarcasm, "If you didn’t understand, I wouldn’t mind elaborating further."

"I don’t know why people have been saying since I was born that I wouldn’t live past thirty."

"But... I think you owe an explanation as to why, instead of cherishing the ti you had with , knowing I wouldn’t live past thirty, you imdiately adopted soone with no blood relation to , forced them upon , and began grooming him as the future heir of the Quan Family."

"I hadn’t thought about it before and naturally didn’t see any issue, but now..."

He laughed mockingly, "Aren’t you ready to tell the truth yet?"

The senior Mr. Quan, faced with his penetrating gaze, suddenly found himself at a loss for words.

What could he say?

Admit that he had planned from the beginning to place his illegitimate son beside his biological son, raising him as a grandson?

He could do such a thing, but he couldn’t bring himself to admit it.

"Dad, why aren’t you speaking?"

As Jinbei’s words fell, Yaoguang followed up with, "How could he speak now? There are so things that he has the face to do, but not necessarily the face to acknowledge!"

The senior Mr. Quan, who had just been left embarrassed by his own son, was also aware of his guilt.

However, he didn’t have the sa emotions when facing Yaoguang.

Looking at Yaoguang, his expression was so dark it seed lethal.

"What’s this got to do with you? Who asked for your opinion?"

Jinbei frowned, his gaze growing darker, "Dad, Yaoguang is my wife."

That statent was both a declaration and a warning.

The senior Mr. Quan’s heart chilled, and his gaze towards Yaoguang grew even more guarded.

Ever since Yaoguang had appeared by Jinbei’s side, Jinbei had beco uncontrollable to him.

Now, that feeling was even stronger.

The thought made the senior Mr. Quan’s view of her even more cautious.

Furthermore, during their last eting, Yaoguang had openly demanded such a hefty "eting gift," and he couldn’t find any fault with it to refuse.

That made him feel a pang of pain when he looked at Yaoguang now.

And yet, Yaoguang was exceedingly brazen.

In his presence, she showed no awareness of being in front of her father-in-law.

Seeing her confrontational manner, anyone unaware might think she had a vendetta against the Quan Family, as if she had co for revenge today.

And in fact...

That was indeed the case.

She was here for revenge.

Yaoguang tilted her head and cracked a sly, malevolent smile.

Even her tone of voice carried a hint of provocation, "Elder, so things can’t be kept hidden just because you wish to conceal them."

"Today we appear here looking for an explanation, and you’d better cooperate with us,"

An explanation?

What explanation?

The Quan family patriarch took on an "I don’t know anything, don’t ask " attitude.

That was a clear signal he had no intention of giving an explanation.

Quan Jinbei coldly observed his indifferent deanor, a smirk forming on his lips.

"Are you planning to smash the pot now that it’s cracked?"

Hearing the sarcasm in his tone, the old man felt uncomfortable inside.

To him, this son was just a tool to be used.

In the eyes of the patriarch, what did it matter how capable Quan Jinbei was?

No matter how he galloped through the business world, the empire he struggled to build was still his own in the end.

And he, seemingly having relinquished control and retired at ho,

was in fact scheming behind the scenes, controlling everything.

This feeling was intoxicating.

So much so that the patriarch’s heart gradually beca inflated.

Seeing the aggressive attitude of the couple, he felt even more offended, his gaze turning fiercer when he looked at them.

"I have nothing to explain. You can leave."

Without another word, he gave the order to dismiss them.

Quan Sicheng and Shi Yiqing watched silently from the side, showing no intention of intervening to ease the situation.

It seed the old man wasn’t expecting them to intervene, either.

He looked at Shi Yaoguang, his attitude had already hardened, "How I conduct my affairs is my business, not for a junior like you to question."

"Today, I do not welco you here. What can you say about that? Surely, you can’t think of settling scores with for this reason, can you?"

"Settling scores with you is out of the question, but..." Shi Yaoguang lifted her gaze towards Quan Sicheng, malice spreading in her eyes, "settling it with him is still possible."

She deliberately drew out her speech, "Others might not know, but Patriarch, surely you haven’t forgotten where he, who was brought in from the outside, was picked up from."

"Heh," she chuckled lightly, "Oh, right, you are advanced in years, Patriarch, your mory probably isn’t what it used to be."

"If you feel you can’t make things clear, I wouldn’t mind speaking out for you, and it might also help you recall what foolish things you did back in the day."

Hearing her call him foolish, the old man’s face turned green with rage, "What do you an by that?"

"Did I say sothing wrong?" Shi Yaoguang’s face was full of confusion, and her expression seed especially sincere, "I shouldn’t have done anything wrong, right?"

As she spoke, she let out a soft sigh, "I’m just trying to help you, dear elder, rember and, by the way... inform everyone of the truth."

"If you think what I’m doing is not right, you are free to say so."

Just as the patriarch was about to speak, she added, "However, I am resolutely unwilling to change."

Quan patriarch: "..."

There was no point in speaking if she wouldn’t change her mind anyway. What use was it?

He truly wanted to curse out loud, forgetting his pride.

Yet Shi Yaoguang clearly wasn’t intimidated by him, speaking her mind without hesitation.

"With all your sneaky preparations, I suppose you’ve said everything that needs to be said and what shouldn’t have been said, right?"

Shi Yaoguang said, raising her eyebrows toward Quan Sicheng, "After all, it’s a mother-son relationship. Why don’t you share your own thoughts?"

Quan Sicheng’s face darkened upon her ntion of a mother-son relationship, and just as he was about to speak, she continued, "But then again, you’ve always lacked sha..."

"Never taking the initiative, never refusing, never taking responsibility, occupying the position of the heir without budging. You probably don’t feel embarrassed, do you?"
