Rong Fan’s body stiffened slightly. “Aren’t we waiting for Bo Jingmo?”

But the woman only raised her brows slightly. “No need. He won’t be back that soon. Let’s eat first.”

Rong Fan took off his coat and sat down at the table.

Yu Li smiled as she presented the dishes on the table. “Eat up. See how it tastes.”

Rong Fan hesitated as he picked up his chopsticks.

He rembered... Li Mu didn’t know how to cook.

With skepticism, he took a bite—his face changed instantly.

So spicy!!

Rong Fan quickly reached for the glass of water next to him. Just as he was about to drink, his movent paused almost imperceptibly, but in the end, he still took a sip.

Watching Rong Fan drink the water “completely off guard,” Yu Li’s brow lifted slightly. Her fingertip tapped lightly on the table, but she said nothing.

The rest of the people, either physically weak or too young, had their own specially prepared als. So at the entire table, only Rong Fan had eaten these dishes.

Leaning against the back of her chair, Yu Li chuckled. “Looks like my cooking isn’t great. I’ve embarrassed myself in front of Dr. Rong.”

Propping her chin in one hand, she looked a little troubled. “I was hoping to let my husband try it... but clearly, that’s not happening now.”

“……”

Rong Fan said, “It’s not bad. He should try it.”

But Yu Li yawned disinterestedly. “Forget it, I can’t be bothered. Let him cook for instead.”

Maybe her cooking had hit a sore spot. Her expression turned listless, no longer as friendly as before. Her gaze drifted toward Mu Chengsi. “You guys full yet? If you are, then hurry up and leave.”

The impatience and dismissal were written all over her face.

Mu Chengsi: “……”

Sis, I’ve only been sitting here for one minute.

But rembering this woman’s role, she paused and turned to Xiao Yun and Xiao Zhi. “Xiao Zhi, want to go ho? Mommy will play puzzles with you.”

Kids didn’t care whether they were full or not. Hearing there was playti, they imdiately clapped their hands in delight. “Yay yay!! Mommy, let’s go!!”

As the mother and daughters left, Rong Ya remained seated and looked at Rong Fan. “Ge, should we also…”

But just then, the woman across the table spoke with a bright smile. “Rong Ya, your brother and I have sothing to talk about. Why don’t you go back first?”

Rong Ya froze, instinctively looking to Rong Fan.

The man simply nodded at her. “Go ahead. I’ll be back later.”

“…Okay.”

With a click as the door shut, only the two of them were left at the dining table.

Rong Fan looked up, eting the woman’s eyes across the table. “I’m surprised you have sothing you want to talk to about.”

Yu Li rested her head on her hand, lips curling. “Oh? Surprised? I thought you’d be afraid.”

Before he could answer, she continued:

“After all, haven’t you already guessed who I am?”

At those words, Rong Fan’s lashes trembled. He pressed his lips together, saying nothing.

“I’m very curious—why didn’t you kill ? Why didn’t you tell the others that I’m the biggest monster?”

With each word she spoke, the man across from her gripped his water glass tighter, his gaze growing darker and more unreadable.

【Huh?? What’s going on—Rong Fan knew??】

【Is he trying to get himself killed?】

【…Knew it. Stop guessing, guys. Bet his old habits ca back the mont he saw Li Mu. He’s always been like this—whenever Li Mu’s in a scenario, his brain short-circuits.】

【F***, Rong Fan, if Li Mu weren’t holding things together here, we’d be roasting you alive. You figured it out and still said nothing? The old crowd is gonna tear into you for being selfish.】

【The guy even went to deva—you think he cares anymore? Selfishness is basically that team’s calling card now. He’s not the sunshine boy he was eight years ago. He’s just like the old dogs now, screwing people left and right.】

【I was wondering why Rong Fan seed so dazed in this instance. Not even fighting for screen ti. Did he forget Li Mu is an NPC now? She’s not the Li Mu from back then, you fool.】

【Just wait—he won’t even know how he died.】

【Still crushing on her? Wait till she stabs you, then we’ll see.】

Yu Li was right—Rong Fan had indeed figured out her identity.

He already suspected when Li Mu suddenly showed up at Mu Chengsi’s place last night.

All the other NPCs had forgotten what happened the night before—but not Li Mu. She ca out in the open, completely unfazed.

She’d dropped way too many clues, never once hiding her actions.

A breeze drifted in from the door, carrying with it the faint scent of blood from her.

It was faint, but unmistakable.

He’d known all along—Li Mu had been at 606 that night.

And in this instance, the BOSS… was Li Mu.

So why hadn’t he told Jiang Xi and the others? Why act clueless?

The man sat there, eyes half-lowered, the complexity in them shielded.

—Because he didn’t want Li Mu to die.

If Li Mu died in this instance, he didn’t know if he’d ever see her again in the next one.

Besides, Rong Fan had his own selfish reasons. He wanted to understand Bo Jingmo’s character setting—wanted to know how Bo Jingmo would die, and why Li Mu hadn’t killed him.

What exactly was that man’s setting?

Why did he get Li Mu’s special treatnt?

And clearly, the answer lay sowhere in that single-floor level.

Rong Fan had always been unwilling—always seeking Yu Li’s attention.

And he did succeed. Yu Li had noticed him.

But what she noticed… were his clumsy little tricks.

His head growing heavier from the drug, Rong Fan leaned limply against the back of the chair, his eyes dull and unfocused.

A woman’s soft voice drifted to his ears—just like back then. Casual, lazy, seemingly indifferent—but with an overwhelming sense of safety.

“Rong Fan, your sense of danger is too weak.”

At that, Rong Fan gave a bitter smile.

Low awareness…

So she was still the sa, still scolding him like she used to.

They all said Li Mu was crazy—but to him, this lunatic gave him a hundred percent sense of security.

His guard was always down—only for her.

Which was why he didn’t hesitate to drink that drugged water.

Rong Fan didn’t make any excuses—he just let his consciousness slowly fade.

That familiar scent drifted to his nose, warm and comforting, just like always. His eyes relaxed into a dazed curve, a trace of soft nostalgia in them.

Crash—

The glass cup slipped from his hand and shattered on the floor with a sharp crack.

The man slumped over in his seat, completely unconscious.

Bzzz bzzz bzzz—

A sudden, dull vibration broke the silence, coming from the man’s coat pocket.

The woman rose from her chair, slowly walked over, and casually retrieved the phone from Rong Fan’s pocket.

Seeing the screen marked with Jiang Xi’s na, she hit decline without hesitation.

Then, using his fingerprint, she unlocked the phone. Leaning against the table, Yu Li began typing ssages, replying to everyone in Rong Fan’s tone: he was out on a house call.

After finishing, she stared at the top of his head for a few seconds—then lifted his chin with the edge of the phone.

The man’s eyelids were thin, his features carrying a cold, detached look. He didn’t seem approachable at all. His glasses glinted faintly in the light, dulling so of that aloof air. Unconscious, he actually looked rather harmless.

Her brows arched slightly, and she let out a low, ambiguous laugh.

“Now this is interesting.”
