Just before Darren could respond, there was a knock on the bedroom door. I hurriedly excused myself to answer it.
I opened the door to find Moira outside with a breakfast tray and my clothes from yesterday. I stepped aside to let her in.
"Good morning My Lady, I trust that you had a wonderful night rest?" She smiled at .
There was sothing about the way she smiles that pulls you in no matter the type of mood you are in and she does it so effortlessly too.
"Good morning ma’am. My night was wonderful thanks to all your help."
"You’re scaring her, Moira." Darren comnted, still typing away on his laptop. His voice held a teasing note that reflected through his eyes as he looked up at to speak.
"Forgive her Kalia. She’s not used to having a woman in the house so she’s pretty much excited about everything." He was quick to add.
"You can’t bla . This is the first ti in decades that you’ve brought a woman ho. Of course I’m excited you rascal." She said before facing .
"Thank you for accepting to be with him my dear." She held both my hands and kissed my knuckles. "You don’t know how happy this makes . I’ve always thought that he’d die a lonely man."
I glanced at Darren but he didn’t seem to mind at all. Moira finished with and exited the bedroom when she was done.
"Don’t worry, with ti you’d get used to Moira. She looks quite old but she has the heart and mind of a teenager." He assured but I only smile.
"Now why don’t you get ready so that I can drop you off at ho on my way to work?" He asked. "We have a lot of work to do."
"Of course." I answered and stepped into the bathroom. I had no idea about what awaits at ho but I was a little thrilled because I know that I have stirred up dangerous waters.
Stripping myself out of Darren’s shirt, I got into the shower to bathe. When I finished, I applied lotion on my skin and changed into my clothes before stepping out of the bathroom.
I walked in on Darren talking to soone on the phone who turned out to be his mother, his back was against so he didn’t notice my presence in the room.
He sighed softly. "Goodness mother, you’re so dramatic. I’ll only be away for a few months and before you know it, I’ll be back ho with you."
He was explaining to her and judging by the way he talked, she doesn’t seem like soone who wanted to hear an explanation.
"No. Father isn’t forcing to stay." He spoke into the phone.
"I’ll admit that I actually ca here because he requested to but sothing ca up last minute that needed my urgent attention and—"
"No mother, of course you’d be the first to know if I ever found my mate or was romantically involved with any girl." He tried to coax her.
From their relentless banter, it was quite obvious that they have a budding and beautiful relationship with each other. Sothing that I never got to have or experience with my own family.
Darren turned around and our eyes t. "I’ll call you later mother and then we can talk properly okay? I’m late for work and you know I don’t like being late. Alright, bye." He added before disconnecting the call.
"Sorry about that." He apologized to .
"It’s okay." I answered. "Your mother sounds interesting."
"You have no idea. It’s a miracle that I’m not groveling on my feet to make her feel better this ti around." He breathed out. I was fighting the urge not to smile at that statent.
"You’re ready. Why don’t you have breakfast while you wait. I’ll be out in a few minutes okay?"
Before I could respond he dashed into the bathroom to get ready. I had the breakfast that Moira had made while I waited for him to get ready in his closet.
He finished in a short while and hastily gathered his files into suitcase. I don’t know how he manages to look so good without even trying. Maybe it was a superpower that only he possessed.
"Lest I forget, can I have your cellphone?" He requested and I handed it over to him.
He went to my dial log and punched in a few numbers before giving it back to .
"Now you have my number saved so feel free to call anyti you need . We’re partners now so we should at least be able to communicate with each other."
"Future husband?" I muttered to myself when I saw the na under which he saved his number. "Why future husband out of all nas? Isn’t it a little too dramatic?"
"You’re trying to stir up waters and what better way to do that than to lay your claim on ? The Alpha’s first son?" He retorted.
"Imagine what would happen should in case anyone sees my number saved with that na on your phone. You’re welco." He smiled at .
"But you don’t have mine though."
"I’ll get it when you call and I’ll do well to save it as my future wife, so shall we?" He gestured at the door and I walked out with him trailing behind .
After bidding Moira goodbye, we headed outside the mansion to see his driver waiting for us.
He bowed down his head in greeting before opening up the car door for us. I don’t think that I’ll ever get used to this type of gestures though.
We got in and as soon as we were settled, he took to the wheels and pulled out of the house as we made for my ho.
The drive back ho took less than thirty minutes and as soon as we drove into the mansion, my parents as well as Celyn all ran out to the sound of the car.
I could see their eyes glaring daggers at through the window. I guess that they must’ve been waiting all morning for my arrival.
"Are you ready?" Darren asked, staring at .
"For what?"
"Stage one of our plan. Stay calm and try not to act too shocked." He answered and before I could assimilate what he ant, he winded down the window to the back seat and pulled closer to him before crashing his lips on mine in a shocking yet nerve wrecking kiss that seized my breath and vanished the air from my lungs in a single heartbeat.
