Azure turned her head slightly to avoid the bouquet, a fine scratch left on her face.
She held her face, looking at in disbelief. This was the first ti I had physically confronted her; before, I had only verbally mocked her.
"Miss Hathaway, I was just worried about your health, so I ca to see you... I had no idea what this bouquet implied!" Azure was almost in tears.
She may not know, but doesn’t the florist? She’s always bothering with her petty sches.
"Stop acting and disappear from my sight imdiately!" I warned coldly, "Or I’ll have soone throw you out."
Tears falling, Azure turned around and walked away, aggrieved.
This matter was originally just a minor episode, but that night I received a video from Leah Lane. The video was taken in my hospital room, showing throwing the bouquet at Azure and asking her to disappear from my sight.
The video was cut short, lasting only a few seconds, containing just one line: "Disappear from my sight imdiately!"
Azure’s pitiful, helpless appearance garnered sympathy from many of her fans, and so of her forr classmates and friends ca forward to defend her.
In their minds, Azure was still the simple, kind girl from before, forced into being a howrecker out of helplessness.
I scoffed at this, ignoring whether Azure sought comfort or complained to Henry Preston with the video.
To my surprise, Henry never ca to see , nor did he seek justice for Azure being hit with the bouquet in the video.
I was relieved to have so peace, staying in the hospital to ensure the pregnancy until there was no sign of bleeding. After a series of tests, I was discharged.
Before I left, the doctor reminded , "Miss Hathaway, your health is not in the best condition. Make sure to get plenty of rest, eat a balanced diet, avoid fatigue, and keep your emotions stable after discharge."
I kept the doctor’s advice in mind, pondering over my work situation once I got ho.
Should I continue working, or should I focus on having the baby first?
If I choose to keep working, I might not be able to carry the pregnancy to term, but I find it hard to quit.
As I deliberated, the doorbell rang.
"Ivan Underwood?!" My mouth dropped open like it had swallowed a light bulb when I saw Ivan outside the door.
He was wearing a brown light trench coat, his black hair trimd slightly shorter, looking fresh and spirited, though his features were still sowhat aloof.
Most importantly, he was carrying a suitcase.
"You’ve lost weight again?" Ivan imdiately criticized upon seeing , "Haven’t you been eating on ti? If you keep losing weight, you’ll definitely beco malnourished and ruin your health."
"No, why are you here?" I was stunned.
"Official assignnt," Ivan replied casually, "I should be staying at a hospital here for half a year."
Before I could react, Ivan had already entered the living room, placing his suitcase by the sofa, "Zoe Hathaway, I need a favor from you."
I closed the door, puzzled, "What favor?"
"The hospital’s arranged accommodation for isn’t ready yet, so I need to stay at your place for a while, okay?" Ivan asked.
I was full of questions, "Stay here? Why don’t you go to Henry Preston’s place? Isn’t he also here? And that Julian Jennings."
Ivan answered casually, "I haven’t told them I’m here yet."
This was getting interesting. Did it an that my relationship with Ivan was now closer than with Henry and the others?
I couldn’t help but think of what Ivan said before: he didn’t like Azure, so why couldn’t the unsuitable person be ? Could it be...
My heart tightened; this was definitely not a good thing for !
I just escaped from Henry’s lair; how could I fall into Ivan’s trap?
Besides, Henry and Ivan were good friends. If I got entangled with Ivan, it would surely bring Henry back to bother .
"No, you can go stay in a hotel!" Thinking of this, I imdiately refused Ivan rcilessly.
"Because of Henry?" Ivan saw through it clearly.
"That’s part of it, but mainly because it’s inconvenient for a single man and woman to live together." I shook my head. Last ti, Dylan Dawson stayed for a few days, and my pregnancy was almost exposed. If Ivan stayed for a few days, I really couldn’t imagine.
After all, he’s a doctor; he could detect sothing was wrong in just one day.
Ivan smiled helplessly, "Then it wouldn’t be too much for to have dinner here, right? I’ll go to a hotel after eating."
This request I couldn’t refuse, so I had to agree.
I took so ingredients out of the fridge and was about to start cooking when Ivan walked in, taking the ingredients from my hands, "I’ll do it."
For so reason, when he said this, he seed a bit weary.
When my hand brushed against his, I could feel the heat.
Watching Ivan washing vegetables from behind, I asked worriedly, "Ivan, do you have a fever? Your hand feels a bit hot."
"It’s nothing," Ivan answered briefly.
I walked over to him, nagging like a mother, "I have a thermoter. Why don’t you check? You’re a doctor, and you just scolded for not taking care of myself. Don’t be like ; what if you faint from a fever?"
As I spoke, I reached out to touch Ivan’s forehead.
Just as my hand was about to touch Ivan’s forehead, he suddenly raised his hand and grabbed my wrist, looking at with an indecipherable expression. I froze for a mont, realizing this was inappropriate.
Moreover, I sensed a hint of danger in Ivan’s eyes at that mont.
"Why could Dylan Dawson stay here, but I can’t?" he suddenly asked.
"Who told you that?" I was startled.
"Silas Lockwood," Ivan’s gaze remained fixed on my face, as if probing for so information.
Now, even Crystal has beco an information center?
I pulled my wrist from Ivan’s grasp, answering awkwardly, "That was Crystal’s mischief; her brother only stayed for two or three days before leaving."
"Have you completely let go of Henry now? No longer interested in revenge?" Ivan’s question jumped quickly.
My mind was in chaos, "What do you an? Don’t you know I’m divorced from him?"
"I know, but if you still resent him, you can use ," Ivan’s words shocked more and more.
For a mont, I didn’t know how to respond, just staring wide-eyed at Ivan.
He frowned, "Is it hard to understand? Use the way you used Joel Sutton; I should be more effective."
"Stop!" I shouted abruptly, my heart racing unevenly, "Ivan, are you out of your mind? Aren’t you and Henry best friends? Do you know how outrageous what you’re saying sounds?"
Ivan rely smiled, "The fact that I fell for you is already outrageous."
