Cheng Lie heard what Yun Shifei said and froze for a mont, as though he hadn’t expected her to say that.

He truly hadn’t thought that the ti they had spent together recently could be so haphazard to her—so haphazard that she wasn’t even sure if he liked her.

Cheng Lie let out a small laugh in anger, his dark eyes fixed tightly on Yun Shifei, yet he didn’t say a word.

Under the weight of his gaze, Yun Shifei lowered her eyes, not daring to et him.

"What do you an by ’not liking that much’?" After a long mont, Cheng Lie asked.

He enunciated each word, and as they left his lips, there was a distinct grinding of teeth undertone.

Wasn’t it true? Yun Shifei thought about the ti she proposed breaking up, and Cheng Lie had said nothing at all. Even during this period of eting up with her, his deanor remained so understated.

He was always so cold, detached, as if everything in life was rely fleeting and inconsequential.

She had always believed that he didn’t like her very much. And of course, thinking about it another way, if he didn’t like her that much, then when she brought up the breakup, she wouldn’t feel pained because he was hurting.

She wanted to explain herself, but as she opened her mouth, she suddenly didn’t know what to say.

At that mont, Cheng Lie stood up, glanced sideways at her, and said, "I’ll take you to see sothing."

He had been restraining his emotions for so long, and now he could no longer hold them back.

Yun Shifei suddenly felt Cheng Lie had changed—his eyes seed to be swallowed by darkness, with no trace of light within.

She felt a bit scared and clutched at the cushion in her arms.

"I’m a little tired. Can we go another day?"

Even if she was a fool, she could tell Cheng Lie was angry at this mont. So she tried to appease him, saying sweetly, "Cheng Lie, was my earlier comnt out of line? I’m sorry, please don’t be mad at ."

Her voice was soft and gentle, like the brush of a kitten’s tail across soone’s heart.

Normally, he would let her off easily, but not this ti. Thinking about the tornt he had endured during this period—the pain she seed completely oblivious to—and worse still, her doubting his feelings for her...

True, he had refrained from openly expressing his affection around her for various reasons.

But he absolutely couldn’t tolerate her not recognizing his feelings for her.

It felt like she had stomped on his dignity and trampled it beneath her feet. A wave of burning fury surged in his chest, threatening to shatter his control.

He didn’t pay any attention to Yun Shifei’s attempts at appeasing him.

He asked, "You don’t want to go?"

Yun Shifei nodded. If they were going to interact calmly, it would have to wait until his anger subsided.

"Then I’ll have to drag you there."

Yun Shifei: "..."

Ignoring her pitiful expression, Cheng Lie grabbed her hand and hauled her outside.

When Cheng Lie seized her wrist, Yun Shifei couldn’t help but frown.

He was no longer the boy he used to be; he was an adult now, growing more and more mature, and his strength had increased significantly.

In the past, even when he held her hand tightly, it never felt as overwhelming as it did now—almost to the point where she feared he might break her bones.

She faintly struggled but found Cheng Lie entirely unresponsive.

He was furious.

Yun Shifei sighed. It was all because of what she had said earlier—it had provoked this storm of anger in him.

Well, seeing him this enraged, she now realized sothing she hadn’t before. He wasn’t as indifferent to her as she had imagined.

On the contrary, he must actually like her quite a lot.

Perhaps it was due to her longstanding impression of Cheng Lie—as soone naive and slow to understand such matters—that she doubted whether he grasped what love truly ant.

And honestly, she never imagined that soone as accomplished as him could possibly like soone like her.

If Cheng Lie were to like soone, it should be soone like Wen Lin, not soone like her.

Lost in her thoughts, Yun Shifei barely noticed when Cheng Lie drove her to his ho.

"Get out." Cheng Lie unbuckled his seatbelt and cast a glance at her.

Now that they were already here, Yun Shifei could only obediently comply. Fine—it was her words that had angered him, so she would let him vent as he wished.

Walking into Cheng Lie’s house, it had been a while since she’d last been here, yet the furnishings hadn’t changed much.

The place still felt so empty and cold.

She couldn’t help but sigh. Cheng Lie really didn’t know how to live—there wasn’t a single trace of warmth to his ho.

Cheng Lie led her to the door of his room and pushed it open.

Turning back, he caught sight of Yun Shifei’s puzzled expression.

From the restaurant until now, she’d seed perpetually confused, as though she couldn’t understand why he was angry.

The Cheng Lie of the past always worried about Yun Shifei being bullied due to her naïve nature.

But he never imagined that this very naivety of hers could infuriate him so deeply.

"Go in," Cheng Lie said.

Hearing this, Yun Shifei instinctively stepped into the room.

Cheng Lie grew even angrier—she was truly so careless with people. How could she walk into a man’s room without a shred of caution?

Just like back in South City, when she had co to find him and unceremoniously walked straight into his room back then as well.

Luckily, the person she t was him.

Yun Shifei grew increasingly baffled—why had her initial defiance angered Cheng Lie, only for her cooperation to anger him even more now?

The room hadn’t changed much since South City—still characterized by a cold palette, deep gray bedsheets, white walls and desk, and a minimalist layout.

Yun Shifei glanced around briefly before averting her gaze.

Cheng Lie, however, asked her, "Won’t you take a closer look?"

"Ah... Oh." Yun Shifei, hearing Cheng Lie’s suggestion, began inspecting the room more closely.

And then she saw things she recognized.

There was a frad photograph on Cheng Lie’s desk—a picture that looked oddly familiar.

Yun Shifei stepped forward, picked it up, and realized it was a photo of them taken during a forest park outing years ago!

At the ti, they had taken this picture together—she was smiling brightly at the cara, while Cheng Lie’s eyes were fixed on her.

Three years had passed, and the photo looked slightly faded, but Cheng Lie had carefully placed it in an elegant fra and displayed it on his desk.

Just as Yun Shifei set the photo back down, Cheng Lie spoke again: "Open the drawer and take a look."

Yun Shifei complied.

She opened Cheng Lie’s drawer and saw a simple black box inside. When she opened it, it was filled with colorful candies.

These candies...

The colorful assortnt inside consisted of ones she had eaten before and had even given to Cheng Lie in the past.

He had kept them all?!

Yun Shifei couldn’t help but turn to look at Cheng Lie. The man was standing quietly behind her, his expression calm and distant.

Compared to the slightly blurred-faced boy in the photo, the Cheng Lie of today had shed his softness—his features sharp and defined, his gaze deep like an unfathomable ocean.

He wasn’t as cold as before, but he was far more impossible to read now.

Yun Shifei suddenly realized that she had never truly understood Cheng Lie.
