Jian ixue anxiously watched Han Yue return to her room.

She turned off the lights uneasily and followed upstairs to her own room.

Every ti Han Yue stayed out late, Jian ixue couldn’t sleep, fearing sothing might happen to her daughter. Given Han Yue’s fiery temper and impulsiveness, Jian ixue always worried that she’d cause trouble or get bullied.

Jian ixue felt even more concerned thinking about Han Yue’s earlier reaction.

She woke her soundly sleeping husband, "Honey, Yueyue just ca back, and she doesn’t seem quite right. Shouldn’t you check what she’s been up to outside?"

Groggily woken, Han Cheng complained, "It would be strange if her temper didn’t cause trouble. What are you afraid of? In Jiangcheng, no matter what trouble she gets into, I, Han Cheng, can protect her. You can rest easy and go to sleep!"

With that, Han Cheng turned over and continued to sleep.

His words eased Jian ixue’s anxiety slightly, but she still lay down restlessly.

Han Yue had a very troubled sleep that night. Every ti she closed her eyes, she saw Shen Linmin lying cold and lifeless on top of her. Han Yue was imdiately jolted awake in fright. Extrely tired, she was nevertheless shocked awake again and again. This repeated all night long.

She feared the night and dreaded the dawn, knowing that as soon as day broke, the Shen Family would surely not let her off the hook.

The first streak of dawn light shone through the curtains that weren’t tightly closed. Along with the sunlight, the Shen Family and the police arrived.

Han Cheng and Jian ixue were awakened by the insistent doorbell. Han Cheng descended the stairs irritably. Seeing Shen Xian and the police outside in the courtyard, he hesitated for a mont before instructing the servant to open the door.

"Brother Shen, what happened?"

Shen Xian’s eyes were bloodshot, filled with grief and anger. "How dare you ask what happened? Han Yue murdered my son in the street and fled! I’ve brought people here to arrest her!"

Jian ixue imdiately denied it, "Yueyue is so kind-hearted, how could she possibly kill soone? It must be a misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding?! Do you think all the onlookers were blind?"

Criminal Investigation Team Captain Zhang He said, "Mr. Han, the evidence is conclusive, the chain of evidence is complete, there are videos from multiple angles as proof, and nurous onlookers can testify. Han Yue indeed committed murder in broad daylight. Please cooperate with our investigation and hand over Han Yue so we can take her back to the station for processing."

Han Cheng, like Jian ixue, was stunned silly by this reality.

But with his years of experience in the business world, he quickly regained his calm.

"Captain Zhang, I understand your eagerness to solve the case. Words alone are not proof; please present the evidence. If there’s no evidence, I firmly won’t agree with what you just said."

While he said this, he inwardly believed it was largely true.

For Han Yue to be with Shen Linmin was beneficial to both the Han and Shen families, who would support and assist each other in the future. Consequently, the relationship between the two families had improved a lot due to the young couple. The Shen Family wouldn’t just lash out without reason.

Zhang He opened his laptop and clicked on a video.

Jian ixue moved closer to Han Cheng to watch.

After all the multi-angled videos had finished playing, the two of them were silent.

Han Cheng felt his scalp tingle. Han Yue had actually been rash enough to wield a knife. If she hadn’t taken the knife, what happened afterward wouldn’t have occurred.

Shen Xian’s eyes reddened further. "Hand over the person!"

Jian ixue stood up anxiously. "How much money do you want? My Shen Family will pay, even if it bankrupts us! My daughter is still young; she doesn’t understand anything. I beg you to spare her. I am willing to give everything I have to protect her."

"My Shen Family is short of money? Is your daughter’s life a life, and my son’s not? My son is gone; your daughter must pay with her life too!"

Zhang He didn’t correct Shen Xian’s statent. Even though Han Yue killed Shen Linmin, she was guilty of manslaughter, not a capital cri according to law. If she admitted her mistake with a good attitude, coupled with the Han Family’s influence, she might receive a lenient sentence. Explaining this to Shen Xian now would only add fuel to the fire.

Jian ixue was about to speak again, but Han Cheng interrupted her. "Brother Shen, I know how hard this is for you, and I’m deeply saddened by this news as well. Right now, the most important thing is to make funeral arrangents for Lin Min, and I’ll do whatever it takes. As for Han Yue, I will handle her case strictly according to the law, without any leniency. Our two families have known each other for many years; no one wished for this to happen. But now that it has, we can only face it."

Shen Xian sneered, "Do you think I don’t know what you’re thinking? You plan to delay, but how could I possibly give you ti to send Han Yue away?"

Shen Xian barked, "Captain Zhang, Han Yue’s car is in the garage; she must still be at ho. Hurry up and search!"

Jian ixue panicked and blocked the way to the second-floor landing. "You can’t search! My daughter’s not ho; she hasn’t been back since last night!" Her voice trembled as she blurted out the lie.

Han Yue leaned against the back of her room door, too afraid to listen, yet terrified that those people would suddenly burst in and seize her. Her heart was in agony.

If it hadn’t been for that woman last night, I would never have gotten so angry, let alone impulsive enough to want to ruin her face. If I hadn’t wanted to ruin her face, I wouldn’t have taken the knife. It was all that woman’s fault! She was the root cause of everything! She should be the one bearing the consequences of this incident!

Han Cheng yanked Jian ixue over and shouted, "Enough! How much more do you want to disgrace yourself?"

Jian ixue looked incredulously at Han Cheng. "How can you be so heartless? Yueyue is the daughter you’ve cherished for over twenty years; how can you let them take her?"

"She made her bed, now she has to lie in it!" Han Cheng said coldly.

This was not the ti for reasoning; the more they shielded their daughter, the more they would infuriate Shen Xian and the Shen Family. How could she not understand such a simple truth? Handing her over quickly might even offer a chance to de-escalate the situation. Moreover, he could think of ways to pin the incident on the woman in the white dress who had instigated it all. If handled properly, Yueyue might not even have to go to prison.

Jian ixue scread furiously, "Han Cheng, are you even human? If you don’t love her, I do! She’s the precious child I carried for ten months and gave birth to, and I will not allow anyone to take her away from ! So what if she killed soone? Shen Linmin deserved to die! It’s his own fault for ogling other won! He clearly had a girlfriend, yet the mont he saw a beautiful woman, his eyes practically popped out! Doesn’t a man like that deserve to die?"

Jian ixue was so angry that she spoke without thinking, her words tumbling out without thought.

Han Cheng wanted to cover her mouth, but Jian ixue dodged nimbly, not letting him catch her.

Shen Xian and the Shen family mbers were shaking with rage.

"Captain Zhang, this is the attitude of a murderer’s family. What are you waiting for?"

Zhang He gestured, and officers from the criminal investigation team quickly ascended the stairs.

Terrified, Han Yue ran to the window. Uniford officers were everywhere, both inside the courtyard and out.

Her door was pounded on loudly. Han Yue scread hysterically.

"I didn’t kill anyone!"

"I didn’t kill anyone!"

"You’re wronging ; you can’t arrest !"

No one listened to her.

The expensive door was kicked open, and a group of uniford people surrounded her.

Her legs gave out, and Han Yue sank limply to the floor, not daring to move.

Seeing her daughter’s pale little face, Jian ixue’s heart ached trendously.

"Yueyue, Mommy believes you didn’t do it. It must have been that woman in the white dress who said sothing to provoke you, right?"

"It was her fault. Why would I carry a knife in my bag when I went out on a date with my boyfriend? She must have sneaked it in there."

This was the first ti Han Yue’s mind had ever worked so quickly.
