Wu Shi handed her the notebook. "Take a look. I’ll step out for a mont."

Fu Bing murmured softly.

Only after the study door closed did she carefully examine every detail listed inside. Tears welled up in her eyes.

The villas, courtyards, and houses were all places they had visited together. So were locations where she had fild, and he had taken the ti to visit her on set. He had actually bought all of them.

What was he thinking when he did all these things?

Fu Bing’s lips trembled.

She pushed back the tears. She had shed enough tears already.

Qin Jinhai was now considered dead by the outside world. Even though she never believed it, there was still no trace of him.

She had unexpectedly discovered the things he had left for her.

If he really...

How should she face these things?

Why couldn’t he tell her in person?

Why did he always threaten her?

Fu Bing closed the notebook.

If Qin Jinhai was hiding in so corner, would his hidden agenda also target Qin Sheng? Then, their goals aligned.

Even if he was gone, her objective remained the sa: to settle old and new scores with Qin Sheng.

Fu Bing’s eyes lost their earlier confusion, becoming clear and determined once more.

Wu Yue was playing with a specially cultivated, large variety of foxtail grass in the yard.

Taking advantage of no one watching, his hands itched, and he picked a foxtail stem to play with.

He really didn’t understand the taste of the rich. Foxtail grass was everywhere in the suburbs, yet they went out of their way to dig it up and plant it in the yard—it was just too weird.

Xiaoi looked at the freshly cleaned Wu Yue, her expression unfriendly.

"Are you one of the Wrongfully Deceased, too?"

"Mhm," Wu Yue casually replied without concern.

Seeing his straightforward affirmation, Xiaoi was at a loss for words.

Wu Yue, on the other hand, seed unfazed. "Don’t pity . I’m quite happy my parents are gone. When they were alive, they fought every day. After they fought each other, they would beat . The ti they died, they first tried to throw from the fifth floor. When they saw it didn’t kill , they planned to drop a flowerpot on to finish the job. Instead, they argued over who should move the pot and ended up killing each other in a drunken brawl."

Wu Yue recounted this with remarkable calmness.

"Actually, I’ve been quite happy since I beca one of the Wrongfully Deceased."

Xiaoi asked, "Is your special skill the art of disguise?"

"That’s one of my abilities, yes," Wu Yue replied. "I have many others."

Xiaoi sneaked a glance inside the house and lowered her voice to ask, "What kind of person is Wu Shi?"

"He’s a very good person. Every ti we’re in danger, just seeing him assures us we’ll survive."

"Can’t you live a normal life?"

"We are living a normal life," Wu Yue looked puzzled.

Xiaoi didn’t press further.

Wu Yue glanced at her sideways. "Are you worried your sister will get entangled with Brother Shi?"

Xiaoi didn’t answer.

Wu Yue shrugged. "Aside from his looks, Brother Shi has a better heart than anyone. Your sister wouldn’t be losing out by choosing him."

"It’s not that I think he’s no good. It’s just... I hope my sister can live a peaceful life. She’s suffered enough already..."

Wu Yue opened his mouth, but no words ca out. The Wrongfully Deceased are a group of people who have already died once. How could they offer anyone a stable life?

After parting ways with Fu Bing, Feng Yu did not go straight ho but instead spent the night playing gas at his cousin’s house.

Yu Huo played until midnight, until he could barely keep his eyes open.

He tossed the ga controller aside. "If you like playing so much, why not switch careers? Doing sothing else might give you more freedom. You spend every day in the military, either training or on missions; it’s tough and boring."

Feng Yu retorted, "And your life out here isn’t tough and boring?"

Yu Huo bragged, "There are so many beauties out there, what’s there to be bored about? Did your aunt set you up on a blind date this ti you ca back?"

"She did, and I’ve already t her." Feng Yu thought of Fu Bing, his eyes showing a tenderness he himself hadn’t realized was there.

Yu Huo lay on the bed playing with his phone and asked casually, "How was it? Do you like her?"

"I like her, but I’m afraid she doesn’t like ."

Hearing this, Yu Huo sat up abruptly, even neglecting his phone.

"Who is it? Who wouldn’t be interested in you? Are her standards ridiculously high?"

"Fu Bing."

"Who?" Yu Huo appeared entirely perplexed.

"Fu Bing!" Seeing his ga character get killed, Feng Yu irritably tossed his phone aside.

"I never thought I’d actually et her."

"It must have been Mr. Ren who set you two up." Yu Huo stroked his chin, choosing his words carefully. "You don’t see many won in the service. It’s normal to be attracted to soone as beautiful as Fu Bing now that you’re out. But I have to say this: whether Fu Bing is a good person or not, she has too much of a past. If you choose her as your wife, do you think she’ll just quietly wait for you when you’re back with the army? Besides, you know how wild those celebrities can be. No respectable family would marry an actress; they can’t afford the disgrace. You, especially, shouldn’t."

Feng Yu glared at him. "You have quite the opinion about her."

"I don’t have an opinion about her; I’m thinking of you. I guess Uncle and Auntie felt they couldn’t refuse Mr. Ren, so they arranged the eting. It’s simple to deal with: just turn her down. She doesn’t have your contact info, does she? If she tries to reach out, just ignore her."

Determination filled Feng Yu’s dark, shining eyes. "I’m going to pursue her!"

"You’ve just been around too few won; you’re looking for so excitent. Why don’t you pick any other actress from the entertainnt industry? Soone with a cleaner background. Have so fun for a few days, and when you’re done, I’ll help you handle any fallout. Fu Bing is different; she’s not easy to deal with. Her background is too complicated. You’re better off not getting involved."

"I’ve spent ti with her. She’s nothing like the rumors say."

"She’s an actress, and a Best Actress award winner at that! Acting is her specialty!" Yu Huo was wide awake now. "Her situation with Qin Jinhai isn’t even resolved, and you want to jump in?"

"That’s all in the past. Which adult doesn’t have a past? All that matters is that from now on, she only has ." Feng Yu hadn’t co to his cousin’s rely to play gas.

He had wanted a place to properly sort out his thoughts. In every aspect, Fu Bing matched his idea of a wife. What he possessed was precisely what she lacked. They could build their relationship on this mutual need. With their combined emotional intelligence, he believed they could manage their relationship and their life together successfully.

Yu Huo was left speechless by Feng Yu’s words. "Never mind whether I agree or not, do you think Uncle and Auntie would agree?"

"If they don’t agree, I’ll keep working on them until they do. That’s not the hard part. I’m more worried Fu Bing won’t choose ."

Feng Yu knew he could work on his grandparents and parents. They loved him. With a bit of shaless persistence, they would eventually consent.

But Fu Bing was a different matter; she would make her choice based on her own feelings. He lacked confidence about that.

"If you choose her, she should be thanking her lucky stars and worshipping her ancestors all night, alright?"

Unless she’s completely clueless, there’s no way she’d refuse.

Feng Yu said, "Now I see why your relationships always fail. You don’t respect the other person at all. No one in their right mind would choose you."

"Are we talking about now? Besides, I’m still young. It’s not too late to play around for a few years before getting serious about finding soone."

"Just be careful. With your attitude, no decent girl will marry you. You’ll end up having to marry soone you look down on. Would you be happy with that?"
