Fu Bing arrived at the hospital half an hour later.

Once again, Wu Shi picked her up and carried her into the elevator, descending to the floor where Rong Shizhi’s operating room was located.

The Rong family was deeply touched that Fu Bing had arrived so quickly.

Rong Lan said in a hoarse voice, "My grandmother is still undergoing ergency treatnt."

"Which doctor?"

"Doctor Li is performing the surgery himself."

"Please inform Doctor Li that I’d like to go in and observe," Fu Bing said before heading to the sterilization room.

After she changed into sterile clothing, mbers of Doctor Li’s team were already there to et her.

A complete set of sterilized acupuncture needles had been laid out in the operating room.

Doctor Li said, "Xiaofu, co take a look."

Fu Bing quickly walked over.

The screen clearly displayed the tumor in Rong Shizhi’s brain.

The tumor was large, pressing against several critical nerves.

Brain surgery is extrely complex. A slight mistake could lead to brain death, or touching a nerve during the operation could impair a patient’s organ function or limb mobility.

Fu Bing averted her gaze. "What are your thoughts?"

"The patient’s current condition is too weak for surgery; we can only opt for conservative treatnt. We’ll keep her hospitalized for observation over the next few days. The team will then discuss and finalize the surgical plan. What do you think?"

Doctor Li was a renowned master in the dical field, yet he wasn’t arrogant.

In the realm of dicine, talent abounded, and seniority didn’t necessarily grant the most authority. He placed greater importance on brilliant young talents, seeing them as the future of dicine.

"Your assessnt is absolutely correct."

"Then let’s proceed this way for now. We’ll imdiately form an expert panel to discuss this. Xiaofu, I hope you’ll join us."

"Okay."

Fu Bing exited with Doctor Li, who then announced his decision.

The Rong family mbers were all very understanding and showed great respect for his professional opinion, especially since Fu Bing also agreed.

After discussing Rong Shizhi’s condition with them further, Fu Bing found a nearby hotel.

When she had entered the operating room earlier, she realized her hands and legs were shaking. It was an uncontrollable tremor. In this state, it would be very difficult for her to participate in any dical procedures. She didn’t know if it was because she was overly worried about her teacher, or if her body currently couldn’t handle standing for extended periods. She needed to resolve this issue before Doctor Li decided to proceed with the surgery.

Wu Shi noticed sothing was amiss and asked, "What’s wrong?"

"My hands and feet feel a bit numb."

Wu Shi poured the dicinal powder Aunt Ning had insisted he bring into a basin, added hot water, and stirred it thoroughly before placing it by Fu Bing’s feet.

"Soak them."

Fu Bing didn’t hesitate, obediently dipping her feet in.

Due to her previous injuries, she couldn’t bend over easily, so she couldn’t soak her arms.

Wu Shi then took a towel and gently rubbed both her arms and hands.

He was so focused on the task, seemingly without any ulterior motives.

At first, Fu Bing felt a bit embarrassed, but she gradually grew accustod to it.

He was also very familiar with acupressure points. As he wiped her arms, he massaged these points with just the right amount of pressure.

The weakness and tingling in her arms gradually subsided.

Wu Shi then naturally reached his hands into the basin.

Fu Bing pulled her feet aside. "A longer soak should be enough; you don’t have to massage my feet."

"The dicine won’t absorb properly without massage. If Teacher Rong has surgery tomorrow, you won’t be able to assist in your current state. It’s too late to find a female masseuse tonight. I’ll help you for now, and we can find a professional tomorrow during the day."

Wu Shi sounded very sincere.

Any further refusal would seem pretentious.

"Thank you for your trouble."

"It’s no trouble."

Wu Shi massaged her feet without any hint of aversion.

In the dark brown dicinal brew, her feet looked exceptionally white and delicate.

She didn’t think her feet were small. Most girls wore a size 36 or 37, while she wore a size 38. Only when Wu Shi held her feet did she realize how small they truly were, even a little shorter than his hands.

Initially, her feet were numb, and she felt nothing as he massaged them.

But as sensation gradually returned, Fu Bing began to feel awkward.

It was an unbearable mixture of itching and tingling.

She endured it for a mont but finally couldn’t bear it any longer.

"It’s too ticklish! I’d rather just soak them. You should rest for a bit."

Wu Shi chuckled softly and, respecting her wishes, withdrew his hands.

He rely wiped his hands with a tissue, not bothering to go to the washroom.

Seeing how tired she looked, Wu Shi said, "If you’re sleepy, go ahead and rest. I’ll keep an eye on the ti and help you dry your feet when it’s done."

"You should go back to your room and rest."

"Is it because you can’t sleep soundly with soone else around?"

After a mont’s hesitation, Fu Bing nodded.

"It’s not that I don’t trust you; it’s just too awkward," she explained.

"Then I’ll return to my room. If you need anything, call or knock on the window—I’ll hear you," he replied.

"Mm, thank you for coming with ," she said.

Mu Lin was also very diligent, but she didn’t feel the sa sense of closeness with him as she did with Wu Shi.

Wu Shi closed the door and left.

Only after removing his mask, the prosthetic scar from his face, and the costic contact lenses from his eyes did Qin Jinhai allow himself a quiet sigh of relief.

Her obedient and endearing deanor made him want to pull her into a tight embrace and kiss her fiercely, kiss her until his scent completely enveloped her. But he couldn’t do that! He had been too domineering and unreasonable in the past. His attitude had deeply scarred her, making her past romantic experiences painful. He didn’t want her to fall for soone who was, once again, domineering and autocratic.

Tonight was a sleepless one for the Rong family.

All the Rongs had gathered at the hospital.

The entire family consisted of over thirty mbers.

They quietly kept Rong Shizhi company, making no noise or disturbance.

Their visits and companionship strictly followed the dical staff’s instructions.

Rong He whispered, "I thought Fu Bing was coming? Her dical skills are so good, why isn’t she operating on Mom?"

Rong Lin replied, "Fu Bing was in a severe car accident just last month and hasn’t fully recovered. She still needs her bodyguard to carry her when moving around. Even if she wanted to, she wouldn’t be able to endure an entire surgery."

"Didn’t she participate in that dical skills competition? What about all those highly skilled doctor friends of hers? She didn’t bring a single one?"

Rong Shizhi’s eldest son, Rong Li, said coolly, "Are you doubting Doctor Li’s abilities?"

Rong He quickly denied it. "That’s not what I ant. We all like her so much, but when Mom is in such a critical situation, she can’t do anything. What’s the point of her being here?"

"She’s Mom’s proudest student. Helping Mom make a coback and shine on the silver screen again when her career was declining—wasn’t that enough? If you have such high expectations for Fu Bing, should I also expect you to go in and cure Mom? You’re Mom’s own son; why don’t you go in and cure her? Whenever sothing happens, all you do is bla outsiders."

Rong Li had always looked down on this younger brother, adopted from his uncle, considering him petty and lacking a broader perspective. After so many years living with the Rong family, he hadn’t learned a single good trait. Whenever trouble arose, he’d be the first to find fault internally, inciting conflict among themselves. Now, he was directly finding fault with Fu Bing.

Chastened by Rong Li and Rong Lin, Rong He didn’t dare say more, but in his heart, he remained unconvinced.

It’s obvious Fu Bing is refusing to help. Her dical skills are so extraordinary; she could just casually give Mom a pill or perform acupuncture once, and she’d be fine. But she deliberately refuses. She’s clearly trying to exploit the situation, waiting to jack up the price and fleece them!

At that mont, the alarms on the machines in the ward suddenly blared.

The monitor tracking Rong Shizhi’s heart suddenly flatlined.
