Shane Lockwood narrowed his eyes and said coldly, "This is all my fault. I’ve been too indulgent with you, which is why you’ve beco so brazen."
Emtt Lockwood shrank back in fear but still insisted, "You’re threatening again. I’m diagnosing you with violent tendencies. My mommy is so pitiful for being with you. Dad, you’d better divorce Mommy of your own accord. Otherwise, don’t bla for asking Uncle Walter to find a lawyer."
Shane Lockwood sneered and yanked the boy over like he was picking up a chick. "Co here. Say that again."
Emtt Lockwood looked at his father’s face, which resembled a gathering storm. After a mont of silence, he burst out wailing, "Mommy, save ! Daddy’s going to hit !"
Eliza Sutton hurried over to hug Emtt, looking at Shane Lockwood with displeasure. "Mr. Lockwood, Emtt is just a child. How can you treat him so roughly?"
Shane Lockwood retorted, "Didn’t you hear the outrageous things this brat just said?"
"I heard."
"And you think there’s nothing wrong with what he said?"
"There is." Eliza Sutton agreed smoothly. She looked at Emtt and said earnestly, "Emtt, listen to Mommy. You can’t talk like that anymore. You’re still a child, and being so direct will only put you at a disadvantage."
"..."
’Was this really about Emtt being at a disadvantage for speaking that way? It was clearly about how he shouldn’t have said it at all.’
’A child, trying to ddle in his marriage? Wasn’t he just asking for a spanking?’
Emtt Lockwood said, "Mommy, I understand. I won’t do it again. Mommy, I’ve already had soone prepare a house for us in The Lumina Gardens. It’s my third birthday present. Can I give it to you?"
"No. This is your gift, Emtt, how could I take it? But... if you’re willing, I’ll move in there for now."
"I’m willing! Of course, I’m willing! Mommy, can I live with you from now on?"
"Of course."
Emtt Lockwood imdiately brightened up. "Then I’ll have soone prepare a set of my things, too."
Emtt Lockwood happily went to get ready.
Eliza Sutton said, "I’ll go pack my things as well."
And with that, Eliza Sutton left.
Shane Lockwood was left alone in the room.
Looking at the suitcase on the floor and the room now empty except for him, he was so angry he laughed.
’Excellent.’
’Eliza Sutton had successfully caught his attention!’
「The next day」
A servant ca from the main residence early in the morning to invite them for breakfast.
Eliza Sutton was a little stunned.
According to the Lockwood family’s rules, they were only summoned for breakfast on the first and fifteenth of the lunar month, or when sothing major had happened in the family.
Eliza Sutton looked at Shane Lockwood.
Shane Lockwood said, "We’ll go over right away."
Eliza Sutton pushed Shane Lockwood’s wheelchair, and along with Mrs. Lockwood and Emtt Lockwood, they went to the main residence.
They had just stepped into the courtyard of the main residence when they heard the sound of crying.
"I’m Shane Lockwood’s second aunt! Even if I’ve been a bit negligent or slighted him in the past, he shouldn’t be taking it out on my side of the family! If he’d just beaten up my nephew, I’d let it slide. It was his own fault for not having the sense to get out of Shane’s way. But he threw the man in jail and even arranged for the harshest possible punishnt! He’s trying to ruin my nephew and his entire family! How am I supposed to face my relatives after this?!"
Eliza Sutton realized it was about the incident at the amusent park yesterday.
She had made so inquiries. Florence Young was only a distant relative of that person. Her coming here to cause a scene wasn’t really about getting justice for him; more importantly, she wanted to use this to gain Master Lockwood’s sympathy.
Suddenly, her hand was grasped. Shane Lockwood said in a low voice, "Don’t worry."
Eliza Sutton froze for a mont. She hadn’t expected Shane Lockwood to worry that she’d be scared.
It had been a long ti since anyone had worried about her.
She had to admit, the feeling was novel.
"Okay, I’ll explain everything clearly to Grandpa... Emtt." Before Eliza Sutton could finish her sentence, Emtt Lockwood had already darted into the living room.
Emtt Lockwood shouted, "Second Great-Aunt is lying! She’s protecting a bad guy!"
When Florence Young saw Emtt rush in, she frowned and said, "Emtt, what nonsense are you spouting? What do you an I’m protecting a bad guy? Sister-in-law, Shane, which one of you taught Emtt to be so disrespectful to his elders!"
Eliza Sutton replied, "Second Aunt, you truly have a clever tongue. You imdiately accuse Emtt of being disrespectful without even bothering to find out what my Emtt actually said."
The last ti Florence Young had clashed with Eliza Sutton, she had lost badly. She was thrown out of the old residence and forbidden from returning for half a year, an incident that had caused her to lose all face in front of the Lockwood Family.
Now, seeing Eliza Sutton stand up to her, old grudges and new hatred surged up all at once.
"Eliza Sutton, are you mocking ? No wonder you’re from a lesser family—so impolite, with no sense of your place!"
"Second Aunt, if the whole reason you ca to the old residence today to cause a scene in front of Grandpa was just to slap a label on , your niece-in-law, then I’ll just have to accept it."
"Eliza Sutton, you—!" Furious, Florence Young lunged forward to slap Eliza Sutton.
Mrs. Lockwood blocked Florence Young. "What are you doing, sister-in-law? Since when does the Lockwood family forbid the younger generation from speaking?"
"Enough! I’m not dead yet, and you’re already ignoring ?" Master Lockwood’s cane struck the floor heavily, his voice thick with suppressed anger.
Everyone quickly lowered their heads and murmured that they wouldn’t dare.
Master Lockwood snorted coldly, but his face broke into a smile when he turned to look at Emtt Lockwood. "Emtt, co here."
"Great-Grandpa." Emtt obediently hugged Master Lockwood. "Emtt missed you so much. Did you miss Emtt?"
Looking at Emtt Lockwood’s fair, tender little face, Master Lockwood felt his heart lt.
"I did. Of course I missed our Emtt."
"Then is Great-Grandpa willing to listen to what Emtt has to say?"
"Of course I am."
"Yesterday, Mommy took to the amusent park. We went on lots of rides, and she even bought cotton candy. It was so sweet! I knew right then that I had to bring so back for Great-Grandpa." As he spoke, Emtt Lockwood produced a cotton candy.
This cotton candy was tiny, just a little wisp, a miniature version of the ones sold at the amusent park.
"Our Emtt is just too good." Master Lockwood was overjoyed. At his age and status, what kind of treasure hadn’t he seen? The only thing that could truly make him happy was the sentint behind a gift.
Emtt Lockwood’s cotton candy had gone straight to Master Lockwood’s heart.
Florence Young pursed her lips, snorted, and muttered, "Sister-in-law really knows how to raise a child. He’s such a little brown-noser at such a young age."
"You!" Mrs. Lockwood was furious, glaring at Florence Young.
"What did you say, Second Aunt?" Eliza Sutton said, deliberately loud. "Did you say Emtt is a brown-noser? How could you say that about him?" She put on a hurt expression. "Emtt just wants to be a good boy for his great-grandpa."
Master Lockwood heard it too, and his face imdiately darkened. "If you don’t know how to speak, then shut your mouth!"
Florence Young didn’t dare make another peep.
Emtt Lockwood pressed his advantage. "Is Great-Grandpa unhappy? I know how that feels. It’s just like yesterday. At first, I was so happy when Mommy was taking to play. But then I ran into a classmate who called a motherless child, a little bastard. I was very sad then, too."
