Twenty minutes later, the Bugatti Veyron slowly ca to a stop.

She had just gotten out of the car when Emtt got out of another one.

"Mommy!" Emtt frantically threw himself into her arms. "Are you okay? Did Daddy hit you? Did he abuse you?"

Emtt looked warily at Shane, as if his father were an abuser.

Emtt wasn’t quiet, and his shouts drew the attention of everyone nearby.

The onlookers stared at Shane, their gazes heavy with insinuation.

A vein throbbed on Shane’s temple.

’Confird.’

’He’s here to collect a debt.’

But with so many people around, it wasn’t the right ti to deal with the little brat. He just rolled up the window. "Go."

Emtt lit up when he saw Shane leave. ’The daddy who fights for Mommy is finally gone!’

"Oh, you." Eliza gently patted Emtt’s head. "You little rascal."

Emtt humd softly, tilting his adorable little face up to ask, "Mommy, where are we going?"

"We’re going to get noodles from a really delicious place, okay?"

"Okay," Emtt agreed obediently, slipping his small hand into Eliza’s.

The noodle shop Eliza chose wasn’t large or in a pri location, but the decor inside was cozy and the place was kept spotlessly clean.

It was still early, so the shop wasn’t very crowded.

The owner, a woman, smiled when she saw Eliza. "Eliza, you’re here for noodles? This must be your son."

"Yes."

Emtt broke into a wide smile and said sweetly, "Hello, Grandma."

The owner was delighted. "What a good boy! Eliza, once he’s grown up, you’ll be able to just sit back and relax."

"That’s right. I’ll be counting on my Emtt to take care of then."

After a few more pleasantries with Eliza, the owner asked, "The usual?"

"Yes, beef noodles. One large and one small."

"Coming right up." The owner quickly returned with a plate of crispy fried pork. "My husband heard you brought your son, so he told to bring this over. They just ca out of the fryer, so give them a try."

"Thank you, Auntie."

"Don’t ntion it."

The owner bustled away.

Eliza separated a pair of disposable chopsticks and handed them to Emtt. "Go on, try so. They’re delicious."

Emtt picked up a piece of the crispy pork and put it in his mouth. He chewed tentatively at first, but his movents quickly sped up. "This is so good! Mommy, do you co here often?"

"Mhm. Ever since I was a student, I’ve co here every week for beef noodles and crispy pork." What Eliza didn’t say was that back then, when she was still a little girl, this was the thing she looked forward to most.

It was tragic, really. She was clearly the young lady of the Sutton family, yet after her mother passed away, the only warmth she ever received ca from strangers.

The beef noodles arrived quickly—one large bowl and one small.

Emtt looked unhappily at the small bowl in front of him. He said seriously, "Mommy, I’ll be able to eat a big bowl soon. Then I’ll grow up tall, and I’ll be able to protect you."

"Okay." Eliza’s eyes crinkled with a smile as she looked at Emtt. "I’ll be waiting for Emtt to protect . Now, eat up."

Emtt picked up his chopsticks and took a big bite of noodles. His eyes instantly lit up. "Mommy, this is so good!"

"If you like it, then eat up."

Emtt nodded and ate until only the broth was left in his bowl.

Eliza was startled and began massaging Emtt’s back to help him digest. "Emtt, you can’t eat so much from now on. You’ll get indigestion, understand?"

Emtt said, "But I want to eat more so I can grow faster. Mommy, I want to be able to protect you sooner."

"I know. Emtt, you have no idea how happy it makes my heart to hear you say that. But it’s exactly because you need to grow up to protect that you can’t do things that hurt your own body. It’s like trying to make a plant grow faster by pulling on its sprouts."

Emtt nodded. "I understand, Mommy. I won’t do it again."

"Such a good boy, Emtt." Eliza truly adored this child.

Emtt was overjoyed.

Even though Eliza was never stingy with her praise, he was still delighted every ti he heard it.

But just as quickly, the smile on Emtt’s face vanished. "No, I’m not good. Mommy, I’m not a good boy. You shouldn’t like anymore."

As he spoke, his eyes grew red, and tears threatened to fall.

"Emtt, why would you say that?"

Emtt took a deep breath. "Because I know you want to divorce Daddy. I know you’re not happy in the Lockwood family. But I love you, and I couldn’t bear for you to leave, so I selfishly tried to make you stay. That’s why I took your divorce papers and gave them to Grandma. Mommy, I’m sorry. You can hit ."

Emtt closed his eyes, his small body trembling uncontrollably.

Seeing Emtt’s pitiful state, any anger Eliza might have felt would have instantly vanished—not that she had ever blad him in the first place.

"Silly boy, how could I ever bear to hit you? Besides, you didn’t do anything wrong."

’Truly.’

Eliza didn’t think Emtt was at fault.

He was only a five-year-old child. He loved her and wanted to keep her as his mother forever; no one should bla him for that.

"Mommy, you should divorce Daddy. I’ll help you with Grandma." Emtt squeezed Eliza’s hand, his dark, bright eyes fixed on her. "Mommy, I want you to be happy."

Eliza couldn’t hold back any longer. She pulled Emtt’s small body into a tight hug. "Thank you."

She was so incredibly grateful to Emtt.

Grateful that he loved her with such a pure and sincere heart.

When Shane got ho from work, he found the master bedroom bustling with activity. Emtt was busy packing a suitcase.

Eliza stood to the side, trying to reason with him. "Emtt, you don’t need to pack all that."

"We do," Emtt insisted. He added thoughtfully, "Don’t worry, Mommy. I’ll have Daddy deduct the cost from my allowance. Can you just pretend it’s a gift from ?"

Emtt gave Eliza a pitiful look. "Mommy, you wouldn’t refuse a gift from , would you?"

His expression was just pitiful.

Eliza couldn’t bring herself to refuse any longer. "Then thank you, Emtt."

Emtt brightened up again and went back to hauling things, huffing and puffing with the effort.

He looked as if he wanted to pack up the entire room.

Shane’s brow furrowed. "What are you two doing?"

Eliza turned, surprised to see Shane back ho. Erik Irvine had told her he wouldn’t be returning tonight.

Before Eliza could speak, Emtt announced, "I’m helping Mommy pack. I’ve thought it over, and I’m going to let Mommy divorce you."

Emtt snapped the full suitcase shut, planted his hands on his little hips, and declared, "I’ve thought about it. My mommy is so wonderful. A boring daddy like you doesn’t deserve her. I can’t stand to see my mommy suffer like this, so I’ve decided to divorce you on her behalf."
