Erik Irvine shook his head. "It’s probably not a family matter. The Mistress is gentle and considerate. She would never dare to make President Lockwood angry."
"That’s strange. Why is President Lockwood so on edge, like his wife’s about to run away?" Manager Campbell muttered.
Then, he realized the office had fallen completely silent, and a prickling sensation crawled up his spine.
Manager Campbell slowly turned his head and saw Shane Lockwood in his wheelchair at the doorway.
Manager Campbell wished the ground would open up and swallow him whole.
Too bad cracks in the floor were so hard to co by. Manager Campbell couldn’t find one.
Manager Campbell forced a laugh. "Heh heh... President Lockwood, I was talking about myself. My wife is the one who’s about to leave , heh heh..."
Shane Lockwood was expressionless. "Since you’re so free, why don’t you organize all the files from the Planning Departnt for the past several years. I want to see them on my desk tomorrow morning. And I expect to see your individual capabilities, Manager Campbell. Is that a problem?"
"N-no... No problem," Manager Campbell forced himself to agree.
’Even if he had a problem, he wouldn’t dare say it out loud!’
Shane Lockwood grabbed his phone from the conference room, maneuvered his wheelchair out, and left.
The others in the conference room imdiately scattered.
Erik Irvine, holding the organized eting minutes, followed Shane Lockwood back to the president’s office.
Walter Ellington was getting bored. Seeing Shane Lockwood, he couldn’t help but complain, "Lockwood, what took you so long? I’ve been waiting long enough to have a baby."
Shane Lockwood’s expression was glacial. "Secretary Irvine, book Master Ellington a flight to Country M. While you’re at it, schedule an appointnt for an artificial womb. Since he’s so eager to have a child, let’s let him experience it firsthand."
"Holy crap," Walter Ellington yelped. "Boss, I was just talking trash! Don’t take seriously!"
Shane Lockwood said, "Secretary Irvine, what are you waiting for? Or do I need to make the call myself for sothing this simple?"
Erik Irvine replied with an affirmation and left to make the call, giving Walter Ellington a ’you’re-on-your-own’ look on his way out.
When Walter Ellington saw that Shane Lockwood was actually serious, he completely folded.
"Lockwood, I was wrong! I shouldn’t have run my mouth," Walter Ellington wailed. "You were working your tail off, and I was just spouting nonsense. Please, forgive ! Lockwood, I’m the only heir to the Ellington Family! If I really go through with that... our family line will end with !"
"It won’t," Shane Lockwood said coolly. "An extra womb just ensures that any child born from your belly is your own. Aren’t you thrilled with this grand gift I’m giving you?"
Walter Ellington shook his head so hard it looked like a blur. "No, no, no! I’d rather my wife cheat on than give birth myself! Besides, my parents are generous people. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind raising another man’s kid."
Shane Lockwood snorted. "If you have sothing to say, spit it out."
"It’s about the Wyrmcrest Bay project," Walter Ellington said, his eyes full of scorn. "Fabian Lockwood has been making a lot of noise lately. And the funny part is, so idiots actually believe you’re on your deathbed. They’re already kissing his ass, hoping to be rewarded for backing the winning horse."
Forget the fact that Shane Lockwood was currently paralyzed from the waist down. Even if he were on his last breath, dealing with an idiot like Fabian Lockwood would be child’s play.
Shane Lockwood’s eyes were cold. "Since they want to act up, we’ll give them the stage. Everyone deserves a chance to achieve their dreams, after all."
Hearing the chill in Shane Lockwood’s tone, Walter Ellington couldn’t help but offer a mont of silence for those troublemakers.
’What was wrong with them? They had good lives, yet they insisted on courting death.’
After discussing business with Shane Lockwood, Walter Ellington sidled up to Erik Irvine again, a sly grin on his face. He whispered, "So what’s really going on? Why’s Lockwood acting like his wife left him?"
Erik Irvine said diplomatically, "The last person who said that in the conference room is now working overti all night."
Walter Ellington froze for a second, then the pieces clicked into place.
He couldn’t help but say, "Lockwood hasn’t actually fallen for that good-luck bride of his, has he?"
Shane Lockwood, hearing Walter Ellington’s rambling, was just about to open his mouth when his phone, sitting on the desk, lit up.
It was a ssage from Eliza Sutton.
Mr. Lockwood, I’ve found a new place and moved out. Emtt is with for now. I’ll bring him back in a few days.
Shane Lockwood was already in a foul mood. After reading Eliza Sutton’s ssage, his expression turned downright stormy.
Walter Ellington happened to see the ssage on Shane Lockwood’s phone and let out a cry of alarm. "What’s Eliza Sutton trying to do? She’s moving out? She’s playing hard to get! That’s definitely it. Lockwood, don’t fall for her trap!"
Shane Lockwood threw his phone onto the desk, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "You’re reading too much into it. I’ve said before, the only woman I’ll ever marry is Vivian. Why would I be fooled by the clumsy theatrics of so good-luck bride?"
Walter Ellington flinched, shrinking his neck. If he were any braver, he would have shot back with: ’The way you’re acting? Only a total moron would believe nothing’s going on.’
「Seacliff Manor.」
Eliza Sutton was packing a suitcase for Emtt Lockwood.
’The clothes in the wardrobe were all provided by the Lockwood Family. Since I’m divorcing Shane Lockwood, I won’t touch them, even if the Lockwoods wouldn’t mind.’
But Emtt was a different matter.
’He was a Lockwood. Even if he was going to stay with for a few days, he was still the Young Master of the Lockwood Family. It was only right for her to pack a few things for him.’
Mrs. Zimrman watched from the side, at a complete loss. She tried to reason with her, "Mistress, I know President Lockwood’s attitude wasn’t the best this morning, but couples always fight and make up. You can’t just run away from ho with the young master!"
"Mrs. Zimrman, you’ve misunderstood." Eliza Sutton didn’t want to explain her relationship with Shane Lockwood, so she simply smiled. "Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of Emtt. The mont Mr. Lockwood calls, I’ll bring him right back."
Emtt Lockwood said, "Madam Zimrman, please don’t nag. I’ll take good care of myself after I leave with Mama. If you miss , you can co visit. And I’ll co visit you when I have ti, too."
Mrs. Zimrman replied, "Is that really the issue here? President Lockwood will be furious if he finds out."
Emtt Lockwood said, "Let him be unhappy. My dad walks around with a long face all day anyway, like the whole world owes him five hundred. Who cares?"
With that, Emtt Lockwood squeezed his small hand into Eliza Sutton’s. "Mama, let’s go."
"Okay."
Before Mrs. Zimrman could stop them, Eliza Sutton was already leading Emtt Lockwood away.
Eliza Sutton had just walked out the main gate of Seacliff Manor.
Eva Monroe pulled up in a fiery red convertible, stopping right at the entrance to Villa Number One.
Eva Monroe spotted Eliza Sutton and let out a sharp whistle. "Hey, gorgeous! Over here!"
Eliza Sutton walked over, holding Emtt Lockwood’s hand, a little surprised. "What are you doing here today?"
"Who else would it be? You got another girl on the side now?" Eva Monroe feigned a vicious expression, looking as if she’d fight Eliza Sutton to the death if she dared to agree.
