In the office.

Shane Lockwood grabbed the scissors and ruthlessly cut a chunk of Eliza Sutton’s hair.

Eliza Sutton jumped up, clutching the bald patch on her scalp. Her gaze subconsciously darted to the space between the man’s legs, where a few strands of black hair were caught in his zipper, dangling in the air.

His arousal, anwhile, had yet to subside. It was on full display, a blatant testant to his virility.

"Seen enough?" Shane Lockwood’s voice sounded, cold and nacing.

Eliza Sutton shuddered and quickly averted her eyes. "Sorry, I’ll be on my way."

"Stop!" Shane Lockwood commanded. "Tell . Why did you co to the Lockwood Group today?"

Gazing into Shane Lockwood’s sharp eyes, which looked like they wanted to dissect her, Eliza Sutton instantly understood. He thought she was a woman with ulterior motives. "I’m here for work," she said imdiately. "Mother arranged a job for in the design departnt. I didn’t expect to run into you."

"You just happened to run into ? Do you really think I’d believe that?"

"You can. If you don’t believe , look into my sincere eyes." Eliza Sutton batted her big eyes, trying her best to appear innocent and harmless.

Shane Lockwood sneered, showing he didn’t believe a single word.

eting Shane Lockwood’s scrutinizing gaze, Eliza Sutton felt exasperated. She took a deep breath and said earnestly, "Mr. Lockwood, you really don’t need to be so paranoid. After all, it’s common knowledge that you have a... hidden ailnt. Even if I had other ambitions, I wouldn’t use a thod like today’s. It would be much more to my advantage to just secure an heir and get rid of the father."

Shane Lockwood’s expression turned dangerous. "Secure an heir and get rid of the father?"

A vein throbbed on Shane Lockwood’s temple as he pointed to the door. "Get out of my sight. Right now."

"Alrighty then."

Leaning against the wall, Eliza Sutton recalled Shane Lockwood’s cold, probing gaze. ’I have to find my child as soon as possible, and then get out of the Lockwood family,’ she thought. ’This Shane Lockwood is too dangerous. If I stay here much longer, all of my secrets will be dragged into the light.’

Just then, Eliza Sutton’s phone suddenly rang.

It was a call from the design departnt.

Eliza Sutton hurried to the design departnt manager’s office.

Behind the desk sat a young, fashionably dressed woman in her twenties. Her makeup was exquisite, and her eyes held a look of arrogance.

"Hello, Manager Preston. I’m Eliza Sutton, here to report for my first day. These are my docunts." Eliza greeted her politely, placing her resu on the desk.

Brenda Preston acted as if she hadn’t heard Eliza, continuing to give instructions to the assistant beside her.

Eliza’s expression remained unchanged. She stood there quietly for half an hour before Brenda Preston finally looked up.

She frowned, as if just noticing Eliza. "Who are you? What are you doing in my office?"p>

Eliza didn’t get angry. "I’m the new employee in the design departnt. Here are my docunts."

Brenda Preston reached out, took Eliza’s docunts, and glanced over her resu. Her expression changed abruptly. She hurled the papers at Eliza and yelled, "Who hired her? A criminal with nothing but a high school diploma! What right does she have to be in the Lockwood Group’s design departnt? Have the people in HR lost their minds?"

The docunts hit Eliza squarely, and her resu scattered across the floor.

Brenda Preston stood up and stomped on the papers, instantly crumpling the pristine white sheets.

Mr. Walker quickly interjected, "Manager Preston, please calm down. Mrs. Lockwood personally called HR to arrange her position. Never mind a criminal, even if she were a pig, we’d have to welco her into the design departnt."

Eliza’s expression was placid, as if she hadn’t noticed the assistant’s sarcasm. "If there’s nothing else, Manager Preston," she said lightly, "I’ll go to my workstation."

With that, Eliza prepared to leave.

"Stop!" Brenda Preston strode aggressively in front of Eliza. "Eliza Sutton, don’t think you can do whatever you want in the design departnt just because you’re Shane’s good-luck-charm bride!"

"Mm-hm."

"What’s with that attitude? Are you showing , your supervisor, no respect?" The thought that Eliza had not only beco the Madam Lockwood she had always dread of being, but had also publicly seduced Shane, made Brenda Preston lose control. She raised her hand and swung it at Eliza’s face.

Eliza caught Brenda Preston’s wrist. Her gaze turned cold, and her aura flared, pressing down on Brenda with the weight of a mountain.

Brenda Preston staggered back instinctively, stopping only when her hip slamd into the desk. The sharp pain was a stark reminder that, just a mont ago, she had been afraid of Eliza Sutton.

Anger flared in Brenda Preston’s heart. She glared at Eliza. "How dare you! To think you’d act so disrespectfully to your superior! You must be itching to get thrown out!"

"Disrespectfully to my superior?" Eliza smiled, then suddenly asked, "Who did you say I was a mont ago?"

"Eliza Sutton. A convict," Brenda Preston answered instinctively.

Eliza wagged her finger. "Wrong. You said I was Shane Lockwood’s good-luck-charm bride."

"So what if I did? Are you proud of it?"

"It’s decent enough. At the very least, when you see this ’good-luck-charm bride,’ you’ll have to call Mrs. Lockwood. Or perhaps, the CEO’s wife."

"In your dreams!" Brenda Preston gritted her teeth. ’As if I’d ever call a woman like her the CEO’s wife!’

"Whether you like it or not, you can’t change a thing. My ID badge." Eliza Sutton looked toward Mr. Walker.

Mr. Walker’s heart clenched. Before he even realized what he was doing, he had already handed over the ID badge.

"Thanks." Eliza took the ID badge and left.

Brenda Preston was livid. She unleashed her fury on Mr.Walker. "What do you think you’re doing? Who gave you permission to give her that badge! Don’t tell you’ve decided to disrespect , too!"

Mr. Walker was too embarrassed to admit that he had been so intimidated when Eliza looked at him that he’d handed over the badge without thinking. Instead, he said, "Manager, how can you say that? I just figured that since she is Madam Lockwood, after all, if we start a direct conflict and things escalate, we’re the ones who will suffer. It would also give Mrs. Lockwood a bad impression of you, and that wouldn’t be worth it."

Brenda’s anger subsided considerably upon hearing her assistant’s last sentence, and her senses returned. "You have a point. However, if Eliza Sutton’s reputation is ruined, not even the luckiest birth chart in the world will be able to protect her."

As she spoke, a venomous glint flashed in her eyes.

「The Design Departnt.」

Eliza Sutton had just sat down at her workstation when a stack of files was slamd onto her desk with a THUMP. The pile was so large, and Reina Miles had been so careless in placing it, that the docunts imdiately scattered across the floor.

Reina Miles said arrogantly, "Organize these docunts, and fast. Have them on my desk tomorrow morning. If you hold up important work, you’re finished!"

Eliza glanced at the docunts. ’A quick look shows they’re all files from the design departnt from years ago. Besides, anyone with half a brain knows it’s impossible to sort through this much in a single night.’

Rembering that Mr. Walker had been in the design office earlier, Eliza knew exactly what was going on.

"Wait a minute."

"What is it now?" Reina Miles stopped, exasperated. "Don’t tell you’re great at seducing n, but completely useless when it cos to organizing a few docunts."

"Pick up the files."
