Previously, when Jiang Mianmian was taking her high school entrance exams, their family’s three old hens were all slaughtered by the old lady. Now, at ho, there are only little chicks that were bought two months ago, and the old lady is counting on raising them to lay eggs.

Taking advantage of the fact that the family was ho for lunch, the old lady took so money and went to a family she had a good relationship with to buy a fat and large old hen, tied its legs, and threw it in the yard.

In the afternoon, when it was ti to head to work, the old lady figured it was ti and ran to the field to ask the village chief for leave.

"Village chief, I want to leave an hour early today. I need to go to the town to deliver an old hen to my daughter-in-law to give her a boost."

The village chief, upon hearing that she was taking sothing to Su Wanyu, agreed without a second thought.

"Sure, Aunt Guihua, you really are an exemplary mother-in-law, no wonder Changhai’s wife is so filial," the village chief gave her a thumbs up and praised.

"Of course, Changhai’s wife is the most filial and virtuous, she’s my favorite daughter-in-law, and she gave a clever little granddaughter." The old lady truly couldn’t hide her affection whenever she ntioned Su Wanyu.

Having asked for leave from the village chief, the old lady went ho, changed into so decent clothes, and with the old hen and the tender bamboo shoots she had dug up a few days ago, happily headed toward the town.

Just as she reached the village entrance, she heard a group of won whispering about sothing by the roadside.

At first, she paid no attention, but as she got closer, she seed to hear Su Wanyu’s na, so she imdiately walked over with her ears perked up.

Then she heard them saying that Su Wanyu had gone to the city, she still looked so pretty, and was now so capable and earning so much money, she’d most likely look down on Jiang Changhai, her unsuccessful rural husband, in the future.

They even said that Su Wanyu would surely be like those educated youths, divorcing Jiang Changhai, abandoning husband and daughter, and such talk.

The old lady erupted with fury upon hearing this, damn these gossiping harpies, daring to curse my son to divorce.

In her anger, she bent down, picked up a few large clods of dirt from the ground, and hurled them hard at the group of won.

"Ouch, who is it? Who’s so wicked as to throw dirt at !" The woman who got hit stood up abruptly, shaking off the dirt while angrily searching for the culprit.

But when she saw Zhang Guihua standing not far away, glaring at her fiercely, her complaints stopped dead in their tracks.

"Aunt Jiang, when, when did you get here?" The woman who had been raging just monts ago changed her expression upon seeing Zhang Guihua and asked with a stamr.

Now, the status of the Jiang Family in the village is even higher than the village chief’s. They were just tired from work and a bit envious of the Jiang Family’s good life, gossiping to find so balance.

Who would have thought they’d be so unlucky to be caught red-handed by Zhang Guihua.

If they offended the Jiang Family because of this, she’d beco the sinner of her family.

"What? Am I interrupting you badmouthing our Jiang Family? You gang of jinxes, gossipmongers, just loafing around at work, eager to gossip like there’s no tomorrow. You all can get divorced, but my son won’t. The couple has a great relationship, envy all you want," Zhang Guihua pointed at them and scolded fiercely.

"Aunt Jiang, you, perhaps you heard wrong. We weren’t saying that Changhai’s wife is getting divorced; we were talking about those heartless educated youths who divorce once they get into college," one of the won tried to explain.
