Hearing this, Su Wanyu imdiately asked, eagerly, "So can we get our house back, too?!"
"Yes!"
Big Uncle Su nodded, "Originally, your family’s house had always been occupied by others. But this spring, suddenly, everyone moved out. I guess they had received a ssage from above, knowing that a house that wasn’t theirs wouldn’t stay with them, so they conscientiously moved out ahead of ti."
"This is really great!" Su Wanyu said, both excited and thrilled upon hearing the news.
She had not anticipated that state policy would have improved to such an extent that they could even get their house back. However, when she arrived in Haicheng, she had known nothing about this and hence hadn’t brought the deed. "Alright, just rember this matter. Your father didn’t leave you much else, but this house is a keepsake," said Big Uncle Su with a nod, speaking wistfully.
Once back in town, Su Wanyu gave Big Uncle Su her phone number and address.
"Uncle, let’s keep in touch more often from now on," Su Wanyu said gently, looking at her uncle, who was showing signs of age.
"Wanyu, when are you leaving? Your uncle would like to see you off," said Big Uncle Su, his voice tinged with sadness.
When Su Wanyu was sent to the countryside, he had been too afraid of getting involved to see off his brother’s only daughter, which weighed heavily on him. But at that ti, he had his own wife and children to consider.
"Uncle, there’s no trouble; we’ll be leaving in a few days," said Su Wanyu, her arm linked with Jiang Changhai’s, and a beaming smile on her face.
Big Uncle Su’s smile stiffened slightly, "Ah, good, then, then your uncle wishes you a safe journey ahead of ti."
Looking at the couple in front of him, he knew his belated concern seed sowhat cheap. After all, when Su Wanyu needed her family’s help and warmth the most, he had held back. Now that her family was happy and fulfilled, they didn’t need his concern anymore.
After parting from the Su family mbers, Su Wanyu’s steps were light, and she humd a tune. Seeing his wife so happy made Jiang Changhai happy, too.
"What’s up? Wife, are you that happy to see your relatives?" Jiang Changhai asked with a chuckle.
"Yes, Brother Hai, over the years, knowing that Uncle had been looking for , and that he had been offering incense and prayers for my father, I’ve co to terms with it. That they have done so much is already quite comndable," Su Wanyu said with a smile brimming in her eyes.
"Yes, well, it’s good that you can think like that. We don’t have enough ti this trip. Next ti we co over, we’ll pick an auspicious day to erect a headstone for Dad," Jiang Changhai planned.
Su Wanyu’s ti for her exchange visit had co to an end, and she needed to return to work. Having been out for quite a while, he couldn’t stay in Haicheng any longer either.
With a lovely smile, Su Wanyu nodded in agreent, "Mhm, Brother Hai, I’ll go along with your plans. Next ti we’ll bring the deed and take care of all these matters."
"Good, we’ll head ho tomorrow. Let’s head to the departnt store now for a bit more shopping. We’ll buy so gifts for our daughter. You check if there’s anything else you want, and we’ll take it all back ho," Jiang Changhai said grandly, waving his hand.
