He saw Yu Cheng and Jiang Mianmian return and said affectionately, "Mianmian is here."
"Grandpa Yu, hello! It’s been half a year, and you still look as radiant as ever," Jiang Mianmian greeted the old man sweetly and politely.
Elder Yu imdiately burst into laughter, "Haha, if our country had more little geniuses like you, my complexion would always be this good."
"Grandpa, this ti Mianmian brought you a big gift." At this mont, Yu Cheng handed Jiang Mianmian her backpack, signaling her to tell Elder Yu herself.
Upon hearing this, Elder Yu asked with so interest, "Oh? What kind of big gift?"
"Grandpa Yu, it’s this—a rechargeable lithium battery I developed," Jiang Mianmian said as she took out the lithium battery and handed it to Elder Yu.
Upon hearing this, Elder Yu was both surprised and delighted. He took the battery from Jiang Mianmian’s hands excitedly, squinted, and looked it over carefully but couldn’t quite understand it.
"Mianmian, you said this lithium battery is rechargeable?" Elder Yu asked Jiang Mianmian, looking for confirmation once again.
"Yes, Grandpa Yu, this is my latest research achievent. Here’s the charger; you can try it," Jiang Mianmian said as she took the charger out of her backpack.
"Good, good, Mianmian, you really are amazing! I don’t understand these things myself. Grandpa Yu, may I take these items to the departnt of scientific research for testing?" Elder Yu asked.
"Of course, you can! Grandpa Yu, the battery and the charger are yours to command," Jiang Mianmian said without hesitation, handing over all control to Elder Yu.
"Good child, Xiao Cheng, stay at ho and keep Mianmian company. Grandpa is going out for a while," Elder Yu said. He then put on his military uniform, found a bag, packed the lithium battery and charger Jiang Mianmian had given him, and hurried off to the scientific research departnt for testing.
He didn’t take Jiang Mianmian with him, fearing that the research departnt, with its many people and prying eyes, might accidentally expose her identity.
Now, Jiang Mianmian had not only developed the technology for colored television but had also created a rechargeable lithium battery, making her safety of utmost importance and not to be taken lightly.
"Brother Yu, I want to make a call to my parents to let them know I’m safe," Jiang Mianmian said, pointing to the telephone and asking Yu Cheng for permission.
"Go ahead, so that Uncle Jiang and Aunt Wan don’t worry about you," Yu Cheng said thoughtfully.
Jiang Mianmian picked up the phone and called ho. As soon as it rang twice, the call was answered.
"Hello, Mianmian?" Su Wanyu’s voice ca from the receiver.
"Yes, Mom, how did you know it was ?" Jiang Mianmian asked curiously.
"I guessed you would be arriving around this ti," Su Wanyu said with certainty in her voice.
Jiang Changhai had watched the plane take off before leaving, and Su Wanyu, estimating the ti, figured her daughter would be arriving soon and had been sitting by the couch waiting for the call.
That’s why she was able to pick up the phone so quickly.
"Haha, Mom, you’re amazing, always guessing right. I’ve just arrived at Grandpa Yu’s house; you and Dad don’t have to worry about ," Jiang Mianmian said cheerfully, praising her mother before she started to report her situation.
Su Wanyu laughed and lightly scolded, "You little flatterer," then went on to tirelessly admonish, "Have a good ti in Capital City, stick close to Brother Yu, and don’t wander off, okay?"
Jiang Mianmian was not annoyed at all: "Uh huh, I promise to stick close to Brother Yu every step of the way."
