"That’s great! Don’t worry, Director Chu, I’ll definitely be there," Jiang Changhai promised wholeheartedly.
"Hey, what Director? When we’re alone, just call Big Brother Chu," Director Chu said very humbly as he began to treat him like a brother.
"Alright, Big Brother Chu," Jiang Changhai did not refuse Director Chu’s friendly overture and smoothly adopted the na.
He understood why Director Chu was suddenly so warm towards him; it must have been clear from this incident that his family had a genuinely good relationship with the Yu Family and he wanted to establish a connection with Yu Cheng’s family through his own.
That said, understanding is one thing, but he was not soone who couldn’t grasp the situation—he would find an opportunity to return the al.
After leaving the director’s office, Jiang Changhai took the remaining half of the roast duck to the logistics departnt.
Master Yang was surprised to see Jiang Changhai and asked, "Eh? Changhai, didn’t you take ti off to pick up your daughter? Why are you back?"
Jiang Changhai placed the roast duck on the table and explained, "I’ve picked her up. My daughter brought back a few roast ducks from the Capital City, and I rembered you guys, so I specially brought it over for you to try."
"Capital City roast duck? Changhai, that’s really generous of you. I’ve always only heard about it but never actually tasted it."
"Yeah, I heard it’s really expensive, one could cost us half a month’s salary. We are in for a treat today."
Jiang Changhai’s coworkers sward around him, praising him effusively.
While Jiang Changhai’s coworkers were enjoying the roast duck, Su Wanyu, carrying the other half, walked out with Jiang Mianmian, also thinking of letting the neighbors taste the duck.
It was just after 1 p.m, and after lunch, with nothing else to do, the neighbors were chatting under the big tree just outside the alley. When Su Wanyu ca out and saw everyone gathered there, it saved her the trouble of visiting each household—she went straight over with Jiang Mianmian.
"Sister Li, Sister Wang, Sister Wei, you’re all here. This is the roast duck Mianmian just brought back from the Capital City. Co and have a taste," Su Wanyu said warmly as she placed the plate of sliced duck in the middle of the group.
"Oh my, Capital City roast duck, that’s sothing precious." Aunt Li was surprised to see the shiny red skin and the perfectly fatty at on the roast duck.
"Co on, taste it. It’s still warm. The skin is crispy and the at tender; it’s delicious," Su Wanyu urged.
Aunt Li quickly grabbed a thigh piece with her quick eyes and hands, and as she ate, she asked, "When did Mianmian co back? How was your trip to the Capital City?"
The neighbors living close by knew that Jiang Mianmian had been away to the Capital City for more than ten days, which made all the neighborhood kids envious.
"Auntie Li, I ca back this morning. The Capital City is so much fun; you should definitely go if you get the chance," Jiang Mianmian said with a smile.
"Ah, as if I have that kind of luck—going to the Capital City would cost so much money," Aunt Li sighed.
"Sister Li, who knows about the future? Once Lanlan gets her education and makes sothing of herself, she’ll take you to the Capital City," Su Wanyu said with a smile, flattering Li Lan.
"Haha, then I’ll take your auspicious words for it," Aunt Li was cheerfully placated by Su Wanyu.
After Aunt Li finished off a piece of at, she grabbed another, "You all stay here; I’ll take a piece over to my daughter."
Hearing this, Wang Li’s Mother also took a piece and followed Aunt Li.
