Chapter 422: Chapter 421 Xiao Juan is having the baby
Zhang Guihua finished speaking and headed to the kitchen to take out a large bowl of braised pork and fried fish that she had set aside, stuffing them into her mother’s hands.
“Mom, neither dad nor my elder brother got to eat at the banquet, so take these ho for them to try,” Zhang Guihua whispered.
“No need, I won’t take them. Keep them for yourselves,” Old Lady Zhang refused.
It was hardly proper for soone to eat and take from their daughter’s ho like that; Old Lady Zhang worried that such behavior might lead to the villagers gossiping about her daughter.
Although Big Sister-in-law Zhang wanted to take them, she didn’t dare reach out as her mother-in-law was unwilling to accept.
“Oh, Mom, why stand on ceremony with ? We still have plenty of at and fish left in the kitchen, and it’s too hot to keep for long. Please, take it with you,” she said.
Zhang Guihua was determined to have her mother take sothing; after all, given the number of people in their house, no amount of food was ever enough, so how could it go bad?
After much back and forth, Old Lady Zhang finally accepted the food.
“Guihua, get a couple of copies of the newspaper that featured Mianmian. I want to take them back to the village and show everyone how accomplished our Mianmian is,” Old Lady Zhang proudly said.
“Yes, right, let them see how amazing my granddaughter is,” said Zhang Guihua with a beaming smile as she handed two copies of the newspaper to Old Lady Zhang.
When the Zhang family mbers prepared to leave and the busy Jiang family mbers quickly ca to see them off.
As they escorted the Zhang family to the door, Old Lady Zhang looked back at the children with loving eyes and said, “Zhiwen, Zhiwu, Mianmian, Yu Cheng, you lot should co visit at Great Grandma’s house in a few days. There’s tasty food there and lots of playmates too.”
“Got it, Great Grandma, we’ll co over in a few days,” Zhiwen and Zhiwu, the two boys, shouted loudly.
Yu Cheng and Jiang Mianmian also nodded and replied, “Okay, Great Grandma, we will visit when we have the ti.”
Not long after the banquet ended and the guests at ho had left one after another, Jiang Mianmian and her family were also planning to clean up and head back to town.
But before they could discuss going ho, Zhao Xiaojuan, who was washing dishes, suddenly felt a severe pain in her stomach.
She was montarily stunned, but then quickly realized—she was about to give birth.
Having had several children before, she knew how to handle the situation. She imdiately took deep breaths to calm down and then called out loudly for Jiang Changhe.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Changhe rushed into the kitchen and saw Zhao Xiaojuan clutching her belly in pain.
He, flustered, picked her up and laid her on the bed-stove inside the house.
Zhang Guihua heard Zhao Xiaojuan’s cries as well, but unlike Jiang Changhe, she was calm and commanding, giving orders in an orderly fashion.
“Changtao, go find the village midwife quickly and tell her Xiaojuan is about to give birth, so she should hurry over with her things,” she directed.
As soon as Jiang Changtao heard this, he ran out to find soone.
“Laosan’s Wife, get a move on and boil more hot water. Make six brown sugar egg drinks for Xiaojuan to regain her strength. We can’t have her run out of energy halfway through. That would be terrible,” she instructed.
“Alright, Mom, I’m on it,” Sun Lixia understood the urgency and responded imdiately, getting to work right away.
Seeing the house in disarray, Su Wanyu decided not to leave either, “Brother Hai, I’ll go help too.”
“Go ahead.”
Jiang Changhai thought that in case of any ergency, they had bicycles, which could be used to rush to the hospital or to send a ssage for a doctor.
