Chapter 354: Chapter 354: They All Said No
Su Wanyu looked at her neatly arranged house and felt her mother-in-law was exaggerating a bit.
She normally kept things pretty clean, it was just that she went to sleep early yesterday, so so items were a bit untidy, making the house seem unclean.
But she didn’t argue with her mother-in-law, since the latter only visited occasionally, there was no need to start a conflict.
Obeying, Su Wanyu picked up the broom and began to sweep the floor.
“Granny, Mom, let help you,” Jiang Mianmian offered to help.
She usually did so household chores during her holidays.
Of course, her parents only let her sweep and wipe the tables and such.
“San Ya, you don’t need to do this; go and play or read a book for a while. There isn’t much work, your mom and I can handle it,” Zhang Guihua pushed Jiang Mianmian into her room.
Jiang Mianmian looked at her mom and seeing an expression of helplessness on her face, she obediently stayed in her room and began reading.
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law cleaned for roughly two hours before Zhang Guihua finally felt satisfied and stopped.
“Mom, I’m going out to buy so vegetables; let’s make sothing tasty for lunch,” Su Wanyu said, supporting her waist, as she was tired from working too long.
“No need, I’m heading back now. Don’t bother going out to buy anything; just eat whatever we have at ho,” Zhang Guihua said, then started to leave.
“Grandma, aren’t you waiting for Dad?” Jiang Mianmian heard the two talking and hurriedly ran out to keep them.
Su Wanyu also tried to persuade her, “Yes, Mom, you can’t just leave after working; at least stay for lunch. Brother Hai will be back soon.”
However, Zhang Guihua was resolute, “No, I’m not staying; I have things to do at ho. When San Ya’s exam results are out, you must tell imdiately.”
She was staying here and eating two more bowls of rice after all, which was money hard-earned by the Eldest.
“Mom, don’t worry, you’ll definitely be the first to know.”
Seeing her mother-in-law intent on leaving, Su Wanyu reluctantly went to the kitchen, took out the fruits and snacks purchased a few days ago, and gave them to her.
“You have to take these, or returning empty-handed, the villagers will definitely say Brother Hai is not filial to his parents.”
Zhang Guihua nodded upon hearing this, “Alright, I’ll accept them then. Next ti I co, I’ll bring you a bag of coarse grains.”
Su Wanyu: “…Okay.”
Could a daughter-in-law refuse her mother-in-law’s kindness?
Of course not!
Zhang Guihua carried a big bag of items, smiling as she returned to the village.
Seeing her energetic stride, the villagers curiously asked, “Aunty, did you go to the Supply and Marketing Cooperative to shop?”
“It’s not bought; it was given by the Eldest’s wife. I told her no need, but she insisted on giving it to ,” Zhang Guihua boasted.
The villagers imdiately envied, “Changhai and Wanyu are really filial; they never let you return ho empty-handed.”
They recalled the last ti the Jiang family mbers moved houses, they brought back a piece of pork.
Zhang Guihua’s smile widened, “Eldest Son has always been the most filial. He even got a jar of honey recently, and so very expensive fruit from the Capital City called ‘pineapple,’ which I had never seen before in my decades of living. It was delicious.”
However, soone in the village had heard from Sun Lixia about Jiang Mianmian not attending her final exams.
Seeing her so proud, they maliciously asked, “Aunty, I heard San Ya didn’t take her final exam yesterday; what happened?”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Guihua knew the person just wanted to mock her.
