140: Chapter 137: Major Incident at the Press Conference 140: Chapter 137: Major Incident at the Press Conference Director Ross just burst in and imdiately faltered.
He just realized that there were only Consultant Parker and him in the office.
“Sorry, sorry.”
Director Ross wiped the sweat from his forehead and quickly closed the door.
But, after a mont, he hesitated and opened the door again, poking his slightly balding shiny head back in.
“Junior President Carter, perhaps you should step out for a bit.
Vice President Palr has arrived.”
“Oh,”
Carlos replied nonchalantly.
Today at Carter Automotive’s new car launch event, Carlos did not invite Evan Palr, and since the latter ca uninvited, Carlos couldn’t be bothered to greet him.
After all, Evan Palr had not agreed with this project from the beginning and even wanted to overturn it at one point.
Since that was the case, the new car launch naturally had nothing to do with Evan Palr.
“But besides Vice President Palr, mbers of the board have also arrived.”
Seeing that sothing was amiss, Oliver Ross had Director Ross seek out Carlos.
After searching around, Director Ross, upon hearing from security that Carlos had carried soone into the R&D center, finally found him.
The board mbers were here too?
Carlos’s thick eyebrows knitted together; this was a sign of trouble.
He glanced at Emily Parker.
“My foot is fine, you go ahead with your work.”
Emily sensed that Evan Palr’s purpose for this visit was probably not so simple.
In the exhibition hall of the launch event, the magnesium lights flickered again.
Just monts after Carlos had carried Emily away, Oliver Ross, stepping into a crisis, continued with the final stages of the event.
But then, Evan Palr arrived.
“It’s Vice President Palr!”
“Vice President Palr’s deanor is as distinguished as ever.”
“That must be the board of directors of the Carter Clan behind him?”
The crowd of journalists, seeing Evan Palr parachuting in, all wore faces full of gossip.
Though not as frequently appearing in the headlines of entertainnt news like Carlos, Evan Palr’s storied victory in winning over the Carter family’s daughter had been a popular tale over the years.
Evan swept his gaze around but didn’t see his son Carlos.
Carlos really had so nerve; such a major event as a new car launch and he hadn’t inford the board nor his own father.
Evan’s gaze darkened as he noticed a nearby resting room.
When he entered, he had heard from the gatekeeper that Carlos had brought a girl here today.
What was Carlos thinking at such a ti?
Evan walked to the door of the resting room and swung it open.
“Ah!”
As the door opened, Rainny White, who was about to co out to see what was happening, accidentally bumped into Evan Palr’s embrace.
The scent of mature n’s cologne, mingling with pine and sandalwood, lingered at Rainny’s nose.
Wincing in pain, Rainny looked up, her teary eyes eting Evan’s sowhat somber ones.
Evan’s gaze swept around the resting room, not seeing Carlos.
“Vice President Palr, President Carter, he’s stepped out,”
A staff mber inford Evan.
Evan then gave Rainny another look.
“Who are you?”
His gaze lingered for a mont on Rainny’s young and beautiful face.
“I’m a friend of an employee at the car factory.”
Rainny’s face reddened as she quickly lowered her head, revealing a stretch of fair swan neck.
“I should be going.”
Worried that Vice President Palr might bla her for not seeing Carlos, Rainny quickly picked up her bag and hurriedly left.
When Rainny White walked out of Carter Automotive, she sent another ssage to Carlos, saying she had left first and wishing the launch event a smooth success.
Evan Palr and others didn’t wait long in the lounge before Carlos appeared, accompanied by Director Ross.
He had his hands in his pockets, looking casual and carefree, leaning against the door of the lounge without wearing a coat.
“Carlos, you are becoming more and more reckless.
How could you not inform the board about sothing as important as the new car launch?”
Evan Palr scowled, rebuking Carlos in front of everyone.
“Carter Automotive is Carter Automotive.
When Grandpa handed it over to , he already said that I have full responsibility for Carter Automotive.
Who I want to invite, or don’t want to invite, is up to .”
“Junior President Carter, Carter Automotive is still part of the Carter Clan, notifying the board is a must,” said an old board mber, trying to smooth things over.
“All you care about is watching the stock price of Carter Automotive rise after the new car launch.
Back then, you all disagreed with investing in Carter Automotive, now you feel envious, don’t you?”
This imdiately turned the faces of those board mbers green.
“Carlos, how can you talk like this to your uncles and elders?
Moreover, such an important event as the new car launch, and you have a secretary hosting it, what does that look like?”
“Yes, yes, yes.
Young people are still not mature enough.
Vice President Palr, in our view, it should be you who hosts.”
A few of Evan Palr’s confidants in the board agreed.
The crowd then surrounded Evan Palr and walked out, with Evan Palr standing next to the new car.
Oliver Ross looked at Carlos, and Carlos nodded.
Oliver Ross quickly handed the microphone to Evan Palr.
Evan Palr then had a smile on his face,
“Ladies and gentlen, mbers of the press, welco to the new car launch of Carter Automotive.
On behalf of the entire board of the Carter Clan, I announce the official release of the new car of Carter Automotive.”
Saying this, Evan Palr forcefully pulled down the red silk cloth on the new car behind him.
The big screen behind him also displayed Evan Palr with the new car, with countless flashes flickering nonstop.
It seed as though Carter Automotive and the new car were all credited to Evan Palr.
Outside the lounge door, Carlos stood with his arms crossed, watching Evan Palr steal the lilight.
Suddenly, the image on the big screen changed.
Evan Palr hadn’t noticed it yet, but the dia journalists were all stunned, their eyes fixed on the big screen.
They saw a person, face covered in blood, climbing out of a car.
There was also a car with a smashed front, continuously emitting black smoke.
The bloodied driver said to the cara,
“This new car from Carter Automotive has issues.
It’s not possible to drive it normally.
It’s a killer car.”
At this mont, Evan Palr also noticed sothing was wrong, and he turned to see the video on the big screen.
His smile instantly froze on his face.
Wow~
Truly, a single stone stirred a thousand waves, and the hall instantly erupted.
The journalists rushed towards Evan Palr,
“Vice President Palr, is the video real?”
“Is the new car from Carter Automotive really a killer?”
“What does the Carter Clan have to say about this?”
Evan Palr looked embarrassingly cornered, his gaze fiercely turning towards Carlos nearby.
Only then did Carlos slightly curl his lips, nonchalantly walking towards Evan Palr and the journalists.
In the office of the research and developnt center, Emily Parker also saw the live broadcast on TV, and her heart suddenly leaped.
